My faves of the album switch very often, especially the more upbeat songs, so Ill really just be listing the whole album but generally I love emails I can’t send, tornado warnings, how many things, decode, skinny dipping, lonesome, and fast times. I love a good song that’s lyrics make you cry. I also went to her concert and the experience of seeing because I liked a boy in the concert setting was just incredible. It wasn’t my favorite song to start with, but the way it had become sort of an anthem for especially women who have been slut-shamed, or socially ostracized. Because I think it’s true that for women, when we come under scrutiny it also goes towards sexual harassment. Everyone who has been bullied and ostracized just came together in that concert to scream, “I’m a homewrecker, I’m a slut!” It was very cathartic. I think a lot of people think that because Sabrina’s story in that song is so personal and specific to her situation, that it couldn’t be related to, but they forget that everyday people go through online and in-person harassment every day in their communities.
A reminder majority of this album is NOT about the OR situation nor about Joshua Bassett. Said so by her as well. I bet a couple are about her ex before Josshua too given that he was with her for longer and it ended way worse. It just wasn’t covered as much publicly. She quite literally had to apologize publicly for HIS racist past AND he mocked her over the OR online in a cruel ass way. (Fuck him fr).
