I also play it in the 1st position, but he likes the B7 Bar chord, so it's easier for him to switch to the B on the 7th Fret ;)

Do you have any more details on how to do the strumming pattern during the chorus?
Why would you play the C on the E string when you have it right beside your B on the A string?
probly just for the pull off effect with the E string
also, if he played that C that ur mentioning, he would be leaving the key that he was playing in
Watch live clips of Jace and his band and his guitarist plays the C on the A string but to each their own. I like the sound of the bottom E and the C together. If you like a cleaner sound, play the C on the E string.

Erick , you don't mention what you're doing when you go to the 8 fret. Is it the same as the 3rd fret??
Wow, you completely got me on that one. I watched an entire video and didn't catch that the camera had been flipped. he he. Luckily, it has worked out better for me to learn guitar and mandolin on my own then via youtube. Great videos though.
I love this. Great tutorial, glad I can learn, thanks :) Only thing is when I'm doing the beginning part with the Em-G and then go to hit the open E and then the B I keep hitting the 5th string, too and with an open A it sounds funny. Should I keep my pointer finger down like if I was playing an Em up there at the 6th fret while strumming the 6th string B note? Thanks for any help, cuz that's the only thing that sounds funny about my playing this song.
Thank you so much for the kind words. If you use your fretting hand to mute any strings that you don't want to sound, this is a good habit to get into, you will use it a lot and it will make your playing sound a lot cleaner.

Dumb it down a little bit. Not everyone that finds your video is a seasoned musician who understands all this. I was able to get half way understanding but I'm still lost. An explanation of the strum pattern would have been nice. But that's ok i guess. There's plenty of youtube videos that cater to the novice. I'll go watch their videos.

Why not pick up the C on the 5 string 3rd fret instead of the 8th on the 6th string? I mean other than looks more badasser to fly up there to the 8th 😂 mo-bettah, mo baddasser, same thing.
Never mind, B7 versus Bdom7 guess inshoulda hung tight and watched..
Old post/vid I realize but: B7 is B dominant 7. Same thing played in open or seventh position.

Nah, that's actually wrong, if you go by how the lyrics were originally written. They were changed when the song got used for TV series...

Your guitar lesson was great help. I've been playing on and off for about 25 years and came to the song through Tru Blood but only now have i looked into how to play the song, you've got a really nice teaching method
Save yourself the slide down and use the C note 3rd fret A string.
