I found clue 1 so easy to finish. Not like last years. But it is not a quarter of the shawl which means there'll be more knitting during later weeks.
I'm a person who will check over a pattern from start to finish before starting one, so usually I'll watch clue videos from start to finish before starting too. I've gone off track with this clue. I felt the need to click to the end as soon as I saw the video pop up to see what we were making before I looked at anything else. I will never regret this as knowing what the shapes should add up to really made the journey easier and enjoyable to knit. Like most people, I'm thankful for the videos as this has really helped for certain areas where I wasn't sure where to pick up a particular stitch from. Also, the how of picking up a stitch when turning and joining. I'm sure you know where I mean. That join impresses me. It is not the first time I've knit Stephen's pieces together in this way, but I always seem to forget how it's done.
Greetings Martyn ~ Happy Craftin' & Happy Volgtober!! 🎃🧶👻🎉
I love the colors of Mark's shawl, they are gorgeous. I love your swatch with the fluff, it looks so comfy !
Glad you got to wear your cardigan. It is a great make. One of my first knits is a Noro cardigan that is big enough to snuggle in. I still wear it, 15 years later. You’re correct. The “n” in bettern is a contraction for than. The American Kennel Club has a maximum letter count in dog’s names. She was a beautiful Doberman. Have fun with clue 1. It is exciting to see your colors contrast and meld. Deborah from Florida
Happy MKAL day! The first sections look great.
Martyn, oh my goodness, I enjoyed watching your video. I'm working on Section 2 as I watch you. I am just absolutely so thrilled by this geometric, angular design. My colors are going to be great, too. I love yours and Mark's shawls. They both look just great! Here we go.
Coming out great!
Yes! That does look like a gorgeous, soft fabric. Once again, Mark's great taste is showing. The quality of the wool, the color pallet and his staff knitter are all top drawer! I'm off to watch the cast on party.
Oh !!! I missed the cast-on party !!!!
Nice to see your thoughts about the mkal. I did not go as far you and have bought the flamingo kit of Stephen West. 😅 I am look un forward all your vlogtober and MKAL progress from France.😊
I watched half of the tutorial video last night...and I can't even knit 😂. I love watching your videos and love your colour choices 😊
That plaid shirt looks amazing on you. Just saying.
Happy MKAL day.
Love the look so far.
Seeing the different woolly makes etc during October is a fabulous idea. (Shame Mark couldn't wear his jumper! 😂😂, I had to say it. 😂😇)
I had a day all planned out yesterday. Finish sock one of my test knit for My Yarny Corner. Sort out my yarn for Christmas Ornaments and organise some yarn shelves.
What happened was Did six rows on the sock. Took Mum to look at some residential homes and then out for tea, home and collapsed.
Oh well, best laid plans etc....
Happy Knitting xxJane
🙂
I haven't even watched the MKAL video yet!!!!
But..... I saw it drop about 0200pt, I'm trying to finish my sample knit, if you've made "jujuy", you know the last few rows are LOOONG!!!
3 to go & the picot bind-off.
(I don't mind a spoiler, but, I didn't look. 😉 I'll hopefully be caught up next week).
Hi Martyn, loving the MKAL and have a great weekend at Ally Pally ❤
Hi Martyn ❣Your shawl is going to be aaamaziiing💙🦋💙
☀️🌅🌺🌠
The colors you selected are beautiful on both shawls. This is so much more relaxing so far than last years. I finally finished Twists and Turns on Tuesday. 🐢🏆.
That is wicked cool!! Those colors are awesome!!
My hubby is always the chef 😅I’m too busy knitting!! Plus I will admit that he’s better than me at cooking.
You are looking so good. Can we go along on the weight loss journey?
Beautiful start! Totally impressed you’re doing two 💚🧶💚
I met Gemma on Sunday at the yarn dispensary in faversham lovey to see her and her wonderful yarn and other wonderful things
Fabulous 👏👏
Love the first clue, this is my mystery knit along.
Hi Martyn, I'm Carla. I'm new to your channel. Loving your hexi cardigan, it's beautiful, fab colours. Enjoy your time at Ally Pally. 😊
Enjoying your progress as I am choosing to sit this year’s MKAL out. Am working two at a time wraps while watching.
I finished section one. Light and concentration was not good enough to continue. Great progress on Marks shawl. Have fun on Sunday.
Ok happy clue 1 i have never knit in this style. I am blown away with how it is constructed ( scary how stephens mind works)... enjoying every stitch this year ❤
Loving the colours you've both chosen - i agree with you, adding the fluff to one of the lighter colours will look amazing. How about a bookshelf tour, a cubby a day? I love books snd I'm always intrigued what inspires people's collections. I love your daily vlogs Martyn! All the best for your fitness journey 😊
First❤. Love it allready😂
Your crochet cardi looks fab - do you have a pattern link for it? x
Love your colours Martin
Happy MKAL !!! I am in love with the first clue 🥰
Thanks Martyn for doing these Vlogtober videos! I do enjoy them. Absolutely love how your shawl is coming along. I’m going to cast on after my doctor appointment (reward myself 😂)
I do love Mark’s colors made up.I watched a bit of Stephen and as a beginner, not doing this mystery knit, I am loving his tutorial. I feel smarter already.
Row 5..added mohair! …going gouge
Clue one looks fun. I'll be starting soon. I had to switch out one of my blues because it blended too much. I am thrilled with my choice.
Not doing the mkal as I failed miserably last year. I have a oldish book on modular knitting. It’s reminding me of this style of knit. Interesting. Jen from Snowdonia xxx
I, watched the 1st clue and the shawl is going to be amazing!!! I, won't be casting on until January 1st. I, should have my courage up to the task by then 😂
Jippiee Mkal day
Your colors I am in love with it
Love the progress
Could we get the name of the author of the Russel T Davies book? Would love to read it😁 loved Doctor Who and Queer as Folk as well as a lot of his other work.
I know Mark doesn’t like to be on camera. But would be fun to perhaps see Mark cooking.
Hi martyn , I have fomo 😅
I'm impressed you're doing two shawls. Are you sticking with the original clue 1 or the new clue 1?
I’m doing the new clue but the triangle version one of the test knitters did!
@@knit365blog I look forward to seeing it.
So excited 😅
Hi Martyn
Hallo Martyn, thanks for sharing with us. Could you maybe tell me, what "tea" implies to you? I live in Germany and I always thought "tea" means a cup of tea and some sandwiches. But you cook a whole meal? So is "tea" something like supper/dinner? By the way: I love your colour-choices!!
Tea in the UK is often used to imply what might be called dinner. Although obviously tea time could mean time for a cup of tea or time for dinner so it can be confusing!
