Back in 2012 (When I was a Muslim losing faith) I attended a university course taught by a former commanding officer in the Canadian Army. He mentioned that one of the biggest threats to modern Western civilization would be "Islamism"...and he was absolutely correct. I was not offended because I already knew at that point the dangers of Islam even though I was still a Muslim.

One of the biggest issues in the world today is Islamic extremism. You will see evidence of this in the West/India/other South Asian countries/North Africa/Middle East. The root cause I believe is clergy (clerics/mullahs) misguiding people and poisoning minds. It has spread in the West/India even though Ms are not the majority, due to the following groups, who hide the problem and give cover fire to clergy: leftist/ultra liberal whites in the West, ultra liberal Hndus in India, educated/well off Mslms who don't like talking about this problem (and many are dishonest about it). But the silver lining is that more people are now aware of how dangerous the left is. Also UAE/Saudi leaders are making an effort to reform, which is good news.

Harris, thank you for speaking up! I am an agnostic person of Jewish background that has always been liberal. I always respected thinking people of any background. What I see happening right now is sickening to me. The problem is that people have started learning history and forming their political stance on Tik Tak that is full of toxic and false information. I have decided to switch my vote to conservative since they are the only ones left with any common sense. I watched the Republican debates yesterday and I could really get behind at least a couple of those candidates. It's time that people like you and me, Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Atheist, people with any reason and intelligence stand together to protect this society from going to crap! If we do, maybe we will even be able to move the middle east closer to peace. The only path to peace is to destroy hate. We need to be able to sit at the same table and look each other in the eye. Good points, from the chaos we see now, I actually realized that Jews are calmer people. Their protest are peaceful. I understand it’s not you all civilians desiring war. As Indians We have seen violence and protests by this radicalised community enough. Where ever they are in majority, they do not allow hindu festivas to be celebrated. My personal (real) liberal values haven't changed: I still believe in freedom of thought and expression, I still believe in being open-minded and open-hearted. I still believe in a pure education, teaching one to think, not what to think, and to provide a solid foundation in the major subject areas; I believe in conscientious capitalism, I don't believe in handing money to businesses that fail on their own merits, no matter their size; I still believe in 'social' institutions like unemployment and the FDIC. I still believe all kids should have clean, healthy food, medical care and a safe place to live. I still support labor unions in theory; I don't support their being corrupted; I still believe that public education can be successful but I also understand and support those who wish to go more non-traditional routes, though I think there should be some benchmarks students can meet so that there is at least no disadvantage to them. I've always been moderate-minded. I believe in common sense. Though I won't change what I believe, I also recognize that the left no longer (and it's been a while now) but I just don't trust and can't embrace "the left" as a party. I would be very happy if the next elected president in this country is a moderate democrat or republican. I wanted Bernie Sanders in office because I thought he offered an interesting combination of a) being Jewish, and understanding the need for Jews to have a place on Earth to call home, every Jew, no matter left or right, if they know their own history, kind of has this in their heart; but, b) he is recognized as a liberal leader, and wants peace for everyone over there (I do as well), and being a pacifist by nature, I just think he would have been a really interesting, naturally balanced/moderated person in that role. Anyway, I'm off on a tangent; the point is; I'm still a moderate liberal. But I probably will not vote for a liberal in any upcoming elections. I won't vote for an extreme conservative right person either. I think all people with common sense should abstain from voting for any member of any party this year. Okay, now I'm just losing it. I don’t think that there is a muslim “right” or “Left” I would categorize it as neither. But rather a type of non-secular government with a base in religion that can adopt other ideologies temporarily depending on what benefits the umma.

Although I continue to see myself as a liberal secular humanist, I find that the "right of center" voices are seeming to be much more rational than the left of late. Everything you have said here is absolutely true, and I seriously don't understand why individuals who are supposed represent those that believe in liberty, equality, fraternity, for all people are seemingly aligning themselves with groups of people who represent the very antithesis. This is literally where the term left wing came from, those who supported the French revolution and an end to authoritarianism sat to the left of the house, while the conservatives who supported the king and nobles sat to the right... Yet these people who are supposed to care about equality and human rights and freedom of thought have been moving ever increasingly towards irrational authoritarianism, victimhood mentality, and have become so focused on "diversity" that they are dividing everyone into smaller and smaller "tribes", where they are labeling certain groups as villains and others as victims based on skin color or religious beliefs... They have become nearly indistinguishable from the far right in many ways... The far left has just become the "far right" with a different religion and skin color than what we traditionally think of as the far right... which i swore was the very things we were trying to say you should never judge somebody by... judge an individual on the merits of their actions, not by the color of their skin, or eyes, or hair, or whatever other arbitrary feature you choose to use to clump people in groups. I mean they are both waving around swastikas!! How are they any different at this point??
I think you have thought a lot of this out very clearly, but regarding religion I think your reasoning was too simplistic or based on faulty assumptions. For example, it is understood pretty much everywhere except America that the Bible is a mixture of history, hyperbole, allegory, poetry, and law. And the historical claims, such as the Resurrection - well, those who witnessed it all died horrible bloody deaths because they insisted that it happened. That's recorded in history, outside the Bible. Yes, I think you were under-informed on that topic.

I don't think there is much anyone can do about this. You could recommend your personal sphere of influence to study Islamic history in India. Everything one needs to know about Islam can be achieved simply by reading about their 800 years long history in the subcontinent and also their post colonial actions here. You would not even require to read their holy book of barbarism to know exactly what their plans are for our future generations.

One of the biggest issues in the world today is Islamic extremism. You will see evidence of this in the West/India/other South Asian countries/North Africa/Middle East. The root cause I believe is clergy (clerics/mullahs) misguiding people and poisoning minds. What I see happening right now is sickening to me. The problem is that people have started learning history and forming their political stance on Tik Tak that is full of toxic and false information. I have decided to switch my vote to conservative since they are the only ones left with any common sense. I watched the Republican debates yesterday and I could really get behind at least a couple of those candidates. It's time that people like you and me, Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Atheist, people with any reason and intelligence stand together to protect this society from going to crap! If we do, maybe we will even be able to move the middle east closer to peace. The only path to peace is to destroy hate. We need to be able to sit at the same table and look each other in the eye. My personal (real) liberal values haven't changed: I still believe in freedom of thought and expression, I still believe in being open-minded and open-hearted. I still believe in a pure education, teaching one to think, not what to think, and to provide a solid foundation in the major subject areas; I believe in conscientious capitalism, I don't believe in handing money to businesses that fail on their own merits, no matter their size; I still believe in 'social' institutions like unemployment and the FDIC. I still believe all kids should have clean, healthy food, medical care and a safe place to live. I still support labor unions in theory; I don't support their being corrupted; I still believe that public education can be successful but I also understand and support those who wish to go more non-traditional routes, though I think there should be some benchmarks students can meet so that there is at least no disadvantage to them. I've always been moderate-minded. I believe in common sense. Though I won't change what I believe, I also recognize that the left no longer (and it's been a while now) but I just don't trust and can't embrace "the left" as a party. I would be very happy if the next elected president in this country is a moderate democrat or republican. I wanted Bernie Sanders in office because I thought he offered an interesting combination of a) being Jewish, and understanding the need for Jews to have a place on Earth to call home, every Jew, no matter left or right, if they know their own history, kind of has this in their heart; but, b) he is recognized as a liberal leader, and wants peace for everyone over there (I do as well), and being a pacifist by nature, I just think he would have been a really interesting, naturally balanced/moderated person in that role. Anyway, I'm off on a tangent; the point is; I'm still a moderate liberal. But I probably will not vote for a liberal in any upcoming elections. I won't vote for an extreme conservative right person either. I think all people with common sense should abstain from voting for any member of any party this year. Okay, now I'm just losing it. Anyway, it is very difficult to see where the liberal party has gone to. I'm probably the only person who will read this; but it was kind of venting to get these thoughts out.

I don’t think that there is a muslim “right” or “Left” I would categorize it as neither. But rather a type of non-secular government with a base in religion that can adopt other ideologies temporarily depending on what benefits the umma.
The idea of 'umma' doesn't make any sense in the modern world where there are nation states. Also, Ms completely ignore the persecution of Ms by Ms in M majority countries, which has been going on for decades/generations. I 100% hear you.. I have always considered myself left of center since I woke up and realized that the Holy book I believed in my childhood was just a book made by people and was mostly just fiction.
Although I continue to see myself as a liberal secular humanist, I find that the "right of center" voices are seeming to be much more rational than the left of late.
Everything you have said here is absolutely true, and I seriously don't understand why individuals who are supposed represent those that believe in liberty, equality, fraternity, for all people are seemingly aligning themselves with groups of people who represent the very antithesis. This is literally where the term left wing came from, those who supported the French revolution and an end to authoritarianism sat to the left of the house, while the conservatives who supported the king and nobles sat to the right...
Yet these people who are supposed to care about equality and human rights and freedom of thought have been moving ever increasingly towards irrational authoritarianism, victimhood mentality, and have become so focused on "diversity" that they are dividing everyone into smaller and smaller "tribes", where they are labeling certain groups as villains and others as victims based on skin color or religious beliefs...
They have become nearly indistinguishable from the far right in many ways... The far left has just become the "far right" with a different religion and skin color than what we traditionally think of as the far right... which i swore was the very things we were trying to say you should never judge somebody by... judge an individual on the merits of their actions, not by the color of their skin, or eyes, or hair, or whatever other arbitrary feature you choose to use to clump people in groups.

I think you have thought a lot of this out very clearly, but regarding religion I think your reasoning was too simplistic or based on faulty assumptions.
For example, it is understood pretty much everywhere except America that the Bible is a mixture of history, hyperbole, allegory, poetry, and law.
And the historical claims, such as the Resurrection - well, those who witnessed it all died horrible bloody deaths because they insisted that it happened. That's recorded in history, outside the Bible.

I don't think there is much anyone can do about this. You could recommend your personal sphere of influence to study Islamic history in India. Everything one needs to know about Islam can be achieved simply by reading about their 800 years long history in the subcontinent and also their post colonial actions here. You would not even require to read their holy book of barbarism to know exactly what their plans are for our future generations.
