@@hassymiia6267 he was born in 1933. There was no Bangladesh then. Technically, there was no Indian republic either. It was all part of British India.

      @@siddikasultana7295 incorrect on both accounts.
      1. He was born in 1933 in Shantiniketan which was in the Bengal province of British India. In 1947, Bengal was again divided between India and Pakistan and Shantiniketan became a part of West Bengal, India.
      2. Bangladesh declared its independence in 1971 not 1972.
The point is, as a bangali you can be proud of him irrespective of where he was born but that doesn't mean you can change facts.

I still think good policy and fundamental freedoms should be a multiplier if feasible? Conflating his work with neoliberal united fruit property laws is a disservice. It is true though that legal facilities for grass routes economic rationality are not the objective. Rodik from Harvard makes a lot of good points going further political economically. Also for the sad economist with a sense of history, it's a useful degree. You learn a lot of useful heuristics, model evaluation...

I think when Sundar Macchan visited IIT KgP, Amartya Sen should have guided state govt to give a proper welcoming him to the state instead of disregarding him. Nor has he helped TCG group to inspire further exploration of investment opportu ities to alter the deplorable condition of the state, where all young people are feeling. I wonder what he does and how does it help, rather Mohd. Yunus has ignited the small banking sector worldwide
