Wow! What a behemoth of a video. I have never fallen into the “Lord Helix” hype, so I was pulling for scythe hands all the way. Keep up the awesome work man. I believe in you! You are going to reach your dream of YouTubing full time!
The nicknames being unfair wasn't because one takes a little longer to type when you make the names.. but every time that pokemon comes out into battle, one has a longer name which takes longer for the game to type out. If you add up all the times the game says each 'mons name those few extra letters add up
@Lazy Stinky Dog It's one frame per character in gen 1, so for a difference of 3 letters, that's a second every ten times the name comes up. And the names come up a *LOT* in gen 1 - once when you start the battle, at least once when your pokemon performs an action (and much more if you're poisoned in battle). Over the course of a run, this adds multiple minutes of difference
This psychic-dragon type is really intimidating. I'm always scared for its STAB 6x-effective Psychics. However, Omastar is actually a true meme, and it manages to take the Venomoth down. Scott, 2021, 25:22-25:32.
I really like the splits on the side being visible at all times in these comparison videos, it's not something you use in later videos aside from odd references here and there but i find it really convenient to be able to see how they compare step by step at all times.
Wonder how this would go if you did it in a later generation. Liquidation and stone edge on kabutops would help it out so much plus it's coverage from moves like x scissor, brick break, night slash, psycho cut, cross poison etc Plus omastar getting shell smash could make for an interested competition as well
I figured the name length difference was in reference to how long each battle takes to start and how long each text box is on screen for. (When it types out that *insert name* uses a move) Its a neat concept if it makes a difference. .1 second per box, multiplied by the thousands of boxes that pop up makes a difference when you've only got minutes between different wins
To be more precise, a two letter difference is a 1/15 seconds per name usage. Pulling some numbers out of my ass, let’s say a play through like this has around 100 trainer encounters (with an average of 3 Pokémon per) and 500 wild encounters. If you one-shot everything, you would have the name called once at the start of each battle, and twice per Pokémon (once for the move, once for experience), then let’s say you level up 65 times. You’d have a total of 2265 name calls, losing exactly one full Pokédex worth of seconds.
@@Blahblah97555 I think that number is pretty accurate to how fast the Fast Text Speed option is. Though it may be instead one every Frame so it could be 1/30th of a second. This will have to be checked.

Great video Scott! I love how detailed you are (resulting in lengthy videos, which I really enoy), the calmness of the presentation, the nostalgia shared every now and then, the editing and the strategies. I also think there's a great balance with the running gags. I think some UA-camrs overuse them, and a couple of videos ago I was kinda afraid you were going down that road too, but I think you've rebalanced it perfectly. Looking forward to the next video! Thanks for the content!
I certainly was going down that road...
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon Great to see your skills improve, both in the games and with everything around making good UA-cam videos. Happy for you it's working out with more subscribers and views. Looking forward to the premiere tonight!
"The next is Bruno, and we don't talk about him" Encanto reference prediction?
I was never a part of the dome versus helix debate and love all water sweepers
Great video though, love the deadpan delivery and I can see these video getting very popular, especially since there are so many counterparts to do videos on and improve as you keep making these
Love the dedication you put into your videos, man.
Was really looking forward to this awesome job man!!!
Even though my favorite fossil got beaten a total of 4 times, I have to give you credit. You've been improving so much over the months! Thanks for your content!
I'm glad you didn't high-five the Dark Lord... you could lose a hand that way. xD I really appreciated the sections, as it allowed me to watch the video in parts when I had time. Very helpful! :)
"MemeStar" would also have worked nice. Goes with the fact that it's already famous AND, "star" is part of its O.G name already.
Great Upload Scott.
I can see you put in hours of hard work. Your awesome man. Keep it up.
Thanks so much! You’re awesome too, thanks for leaving an encouraging comment.
Thanks for making these kind of very indepth videos to settle these childhood questions. Now we have more evidence on why we should praise the Dark Lord.
another great video, i mostly play competitive gen 1 so i didnt realize how beastly omastars stats were!
Love these long videos serious. I crave this stuff. So much better then 10-20 minute run throughs!!!!!
There was a time where an hour and a half video from scott was an "ultra marathon" now it's pretty much normal
I really don't normally comment on videos, but I just have to say always top notch videos mate. I really do enjoy your content and always look forward to your new ones.
Keep up the great work mate 👍
Thanks so much Chris!
love the vid man just msging here to make sure others can also enjoy your content
I just stumbled across your channel. This is great content. Keep it up!
Huh, I can't say I was expecting that result! But the consistent back and forth over the course of the game was interesting.
Waited so long for this. Thank you sooo much.
You're welcome Zachary. Hopefully the wait makes sense now. Haha
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon makes sense. And love how you went back and pretty much did everything possible to find every solution. This is the stuff I think about for pokemon so seeing it played out is a dream.
I normally watch your videos before I go to bed.. so I have no clue how far I’ll get with this one 💀
Nice video, as always!
Just a pointer, if you want to "abuse" the badge boost, it would make sense tonuse a rare candy right before any major battle (the ones that actially depends on the boost) to reduce the risk of leveling up greatly.
>Playing a game while this is up on my second monitor
>54:38
>Delayed laugh.
That was actually a good one, Scott.
Glad it got you.
Hi from a viewer from Brazil!
I'm watching all your videos, and I'm very happy finding someone that loves the Dome Fossil.
Great videos.
I hope one day you do challenges on the third gen and beyond!
(sorry for my English!)
One day!
These videos are so entertaining! Much more thought and substance than the infinite “can u beat Pokémon (x) with only a (y)” videos plaguing UA-cam right now.
58:40 I did know you can dig out of Sabrina's gym! If you play on normal speed, it is faster to jump down the teleporter pad first and then use Dig, as the animation of the teleporter will be displayed instead of the Dig animation, which ends up saving a few frames!
That's very interesting!
