What I like about that goal is that Son and Richy's presence in the box created the space for Kane. The delivery was good too.

If Son wasn’t exhausted at one on one chance with the goalkeeper he should’ve controlled one more time before shooting then the goalkeeper should’ve had no chance to stop it.
Son played like Napoli's final defender. This is the reality of Tottenham, I think it is a natural result that Tottenham have failed to qualify for the Champions League this season.

Yesterday, Mason used Son as a defensive midfielder, again, Porro being a winger. You never listen.
However absurd this may be, they should have clarified this so as for Son not to be exposed to the criticism that he was out of the form and for the media and fans to be focused on his role as a defender.

좌측 윙어 쏘니와 동일한 2선상의 우측 윙어인 페드로 포로는 최후방까지 내려가서 수비하는 장면을 별로 못 본 것 같은데요. 손 선수의 자발적인 팀 플레이 수비 헌신인지 아니면 메이슨 감독 대행이 콘테 감독님처럼 고정 전술로 지시한 건지 아직 확인된 바도, 확인할 길도 없습니다. 풀백이 아니라 공격 가능한 윙포워드 라인업에 배정되었으나 불운하게도 공격 시 손 선수에게 볼 터치 기회가 좀처럼 오지 않았을 뿐입니다. 손이 특히 불운했지만, 전반적으로 다들 공격 기회가 많지 않았던 것 같은데 케인은 그 기회를 놓치지 않았고요. 감독 입장에서는 선수 기록보다 팀이 이기는 게 최우선인데, 손한테 풀백 수비 시켰는지 알 수 없는 걸 갖고 벌써 메이슨이 이기적이라고 비난하지를 않나. 그리고 다른 팀에서도 유명한 공격수들이 수비를 겸하기도 합니다.
저보다 한참 어린 손흥민 선수를 정말 좋아하는 팬이지만, "EPL 득점왕을 수비 시킬 거면, 이렇게 대우할 거면..."식의 코치진을 비난하는 댓글들이 우르르 쏟아지는 걸 보니, 손 선수의 안티, 즉 손까도 한심하지만 맹목적인 팬들, 즉 손뽕에 대한 일부 네티즌의 차가운 시선도 어느 정도 이해가 됩니다.
만약에 쏘니가 일대일 상황을 놓치지 않고 득점까지 했다면 공수 양면에서 맹활약했다는 기사들이 넘쳐나겠죠.
우리나라 팬들은 자꾸 닭장 토트넘 떠나라, 우승할 수 있는 강팀으로 탈출하라고 하시는데요. 저도 손흥민 선수의 열렬한 팬이고, 손 선수가 골을 넣어도 스퍼스 수비수들이 제대로 못 해서 패하는 시합들이 많아서 속상합니다. 손 선수는 골든 부트, 푸스카스 수상, 프리미어 리그 103골 등등 이미 이뤄낸 성과만 해도 레전드 반열에 오를 정도로 대단합니다. 하지만 EPL에는 현재 몇몇 뛰어난 공격수들이 있고, 또 다른 나라 다른 리그의 스타 공격수들이 이적해 오거나 앞으로 몇 년간 어린 공격수들이 EPL에 데뷔할 텐데요. 골든 부트를 3회나 수상한 해리 케인이 이번 시즌에 그렇게 많이 득점했어도 2000년생 Erling Haaland을 못 따라잡고 있습니다(아시다시피 케인은 세 차례의 골든 부트 이외에도. 한 시즌에 30골이나 득점하고도 2위로 이 상을 수상하지 못한 적도 있었습니다.). 막강한 자금력의 우승후보 강팀 스카우터들이 재능 있는 신예들을 마다할 리 없지요. 손 선수가 이번 시즌에 콘테 감독님 체제에서부터 부진해도 그 다음 경기에도 선발 출전하고 또 부진해도 그 다음 경기에도 또 선발로 나서는 등, 여러 경기 연속 무득점이어도 대부분 주전이엇는데요. 여러분이 생각하시는 강팀들로의 이적은 일단 구단에서 제의가 와야 하고, 이적하더라도 토트넘에서와는 달리 몇 경기 연속 골 없이 침묵하면 가차 없이 주전 경쟁에서 밀리고 선발 출전 기회가 줄어들 수도 있습니다. 출전시간이 줄어들면 개인 기록도 많이 내기 힘들죠. 저는 맨체스터 유나이티드의 박지성 선수가 알렉스 퍼거슨 감독님도 신뢰하는 훌륭한 미드필더였지만 매 경기마다 확고한 주전이 아니라 늘 주전경쟁을 해야 했던 과거를 회상합니다. 물론 손이 박보다 더 위대한 업적을 이룬 역대 최고의 대한민국 축구 선수라고 생각합니다만. EPL 강팀들에는 또 다른 쟁쟁한 스트라이커들이 있다는 사실도 염두에 두시기 바랍니다. 타 팀 코치진은 쏘니가 득점하기 유리한 전술만 짜준다는 보장도 없고요. 우승 트로피를 들어올리기 힘든 스퍼스 소속인 건 아쉽지만, 우승후보 팀으로의 이적이 성공할런지 확신이 서지도 않습니다.
끝으로, 이 경기에서는 원래의 포지션인 공격수보다는 수비수 역할을 더 많이 해서 안타까웠지만, 손 선수가 그래도 프리미어 리그에서 상위권 주급을 받는데 어느 팬의 의견과 달리 구단이 쏘니를 마구 부려먹는다는 맹목적인 비난은 하지 않으렵니다. 손 선수가 슈팅할 수 있는 기회가 많지 않았던 운 없는 날이었고, 또 쏘니 스스로 적극적으로 수비에 가담하여 팀에 헌신한 것도 있을 테지요.
지난 경기에서 쏘니 자신이 골을 넣었어도 팀이 져서 원정 팬들에게 미안하게 여기는 듯한 모습이었잖아요. 이번에는 꼭 누가 시켜서가 아니라 팀의 승리를 위한 자발적인 헌신이었을 가능성도 충분합니다. 수비수들이 제 역할을 못 하니까, '안 되겠다. 나도 적극적으로 수비해서 위험한 상황을 넘겨야겠다.'라고 생각했을 수 있죠.

애초에 손 선수가 수비로 포지션 변경했다면 윙백이나 풀백 라인업으로 배정 받았겠죠. 윙 포워드로서 미드필더 역할의 수비도 했지만, 히샬리송의 포지션도 공격수이고, 팀 내 여러 명의 공격수들 중에서 최전방에 누구누구를 배치할지는 전 세계 모든 감독들의 고유권한입니다. 득점왕인데 쏘니가 투톱 아니라고 간섭할 수 없는 노릇입니다.
