there's something to be said about looking up to ezra furman not just as a trans woman-- ive been out 8 years, i figure i don't really need role models in that respect-- but as someone who is figuring out her faith and seems to be landing on judaism her work is definitely comforting

After reading about you today on my Google feed, I had to look you up. You’ve definitely got talent...I’m assuming your songwriting is of true heartfelt feeling of who you are. And there’s absolutely nothing more beautiful than that, as there’s nothing better than truth.
I can’t say I understand who you once were & who you have transformed to being - yet I don’t need to. And although it may be of every importance to you, it’s unimportant to me, just as it should be. @@q.p9000 from what I understand, it’s about the commodification of belief and spirituality, and the desire for a spirituality/religious belief that isn’t a “church that fits in your purse”. The line “who got lost in God’s multitude of names” is a reference to the Jewish notion that God has a multitude of names, each corresponding to a different aspect (judgement, mercy, omnipotence, etc). Also the idea that we can only know so much “that the ocean of the known ends at the beach”. So basically, it’s about trying to find God, whatever that means to an individual.
