Africa is not only the backbone of the world, but Africa is the continent of the future. This is the reason many wealthy people have left their countries to come settle in Africa. The reason why everyone is scrambling for a piece of Africa. Come back to my comment in 10 years to affirm this statement ❤

Bills you have to pay whether in Canada or Africa. There is no such thing as a free passage in Life. You have to pay your way through life. You go to work or business and earn good money. Someone else provides you with security, good roads and a clean environment to do you activity. These things are not free and don't expect them for free. The people who do this have to be paid who in turn pay taxes and other bills and create employment and more opportunities for you. That is how a society functions. In case you didn't know, It is called an economy. Expecting to earn highly and not pay bills is not only unrealistic but infantile. Who do you expect provides you with Electricity, clean water, cooking gas, and heating? This things are not free.

You are right that bills are paid everywhere, sometimes the bills paid differs and not for every purpose. In the Western world you hardly get any assistance from your neighbors, whereas in Nigeria for instance you get multiple assistance from them and are free or peanuts. You are taxed from the moment you wake up till you go to sleep. The fact that many Africans are running to the West for better life has been the failure of the government, not uplifting the living standards of the people, what I understand is that we have everything to make it in Africa and live a healthier life. We in the West understand this, but the government attitude has always been a draw back. What many of us fail to understand is that, the Europeans came to Africa under the power of their kings and Queens then, their expenditure were paid for or covered by their government. They organized a force for that. Ours has been an issue of individuality. Just imagine all the money we sent home goes to a special account and our people gets the home currency, how much will the government have from that. Nigerians alone sent more than $30b yearly.
Yes bills would be paid for work and taxes as well, our government unlike the West don't depends on taxes for survival, we were surviving without it before the white man came. It was the only means for them to survive as they lack all natural means of survival in Europe then. So they have to master that act. Corruption has driven the economy down and that itself is the main problem.
Those who have the courage to go back home and make it should be encouraged. Definitely we are working to survive in the West and can't afford to close our eyes and not worry about it.
Your point is clear and the advantages of life in Africa is far greater than the West.

👸 Queen Lynn, this is the kind of journalism I'm looking for as an African. Africans, our food security is in our hands 🙌 and make a little extra by exporting. In South Africa 🇿🇦 if we could have access to land the same way that our African brothers have, many would be farming, but our land is still in white ownership 😢. If Africa was bad, why are they not leaving, and going to the same Canada, UK, Australia etc, that we Africans rush too ?? What is they see that we Africans don't see?
    I'm proud of Joseph ❤😊
    Blessings from South Africa 🇿🇦

@@our10picks18 Ahhh, you totally misunderstood. I was commenting as someone who has been to the constitutional court for land. And Joseph was talking about our leaders, that where I was talking from. Lazy, I'm glad Lynn spoke about Nigerian stereo types, My dear, if only you knew me personally 😊, I think a person with a Phd, runs 5 km every 3 days, works full time, has traveled to how many countries I'v lost count, in clouding Joseph's country, is lazy. ❤ but I appreciate your reply, just don't be in rush to reply with emotion ❤.

Mozambique and other african countries have enough land, white south africans are running farms like Bananalândia and making money.Others are in the tourism business,no black south african is willing to do that, just because they do not have the mentality of thinking outside the box,is only South Africa in their minds.Things are not easy, many barriers, but people have to fight and learn to overcome

Wow.....The problem is the assimilation of English.
Just like I have been trying to tell our young people about the trend of letting our toddlers learn their own mother language at the tender age and allow them to have exposure to English once in school, but nobody sees the logic in it. Think about writing a composition or insha or even addressing a gathering, you don't think in English, but rather in your own mother language. Thank you bro. We should make this viral.

Very interesting topic. I have lived in the developed World for 20 years and I keep on going home to Africa every 2 years.
I have ever started and managed businesses for some people and they are now billionaires, I now know very well why Africa is behind.
    1. Lack of Unity. If today you call a meeting of 15 people and tell them ‘let us start a factory business’. Five of them will join you. Use their brain and you start the next day.
    2. TIME. Have value for time. Time is money. Plan your time program and follow it. Wake up at 5:45am and start.
Church is very nice and needs your support but 45 min Church service per week is enough. Spend the rest of the time running your business from which you donate to your Church.

Ooh Lynn, this was fantastic. Your guest insight was spot on, thank you.
In many parts of the world people actually learn in their own language.
For example, Switzerland is very small but has 4 main languages and each school in those regions teaches in the regional language.
Switzerland is also very rich, most of its wealth comes from many small companies that produce high quality products, produced by highly skilled individual (Handwerker). After highschool at age 16 most children go into apprenticeship where depending on the skill they are learning it takes 3 to 4 years, they work and go to school 1 or 2 days a week, after the training 99% who wants to work get jobs.
The government has also made it easy for people to open up their own firms, and it pays part of the apprentice fees.
I believe Africa can do it too.

Here, see physics: "the volume of an object submerged in a liquid e.g water is equal to the volume of the water displaced". This was Form one physics where we used a measuring cylinder to prove the above statement. Individually, I struggled to understand this concept mainly because language used never made sense to me. I tell you, my people, we have everything we need in Africa. I have travelled far and wide - Europe and North America specifically. These countries have nothing like we do. It is only we don't know what we have. I agree with this gentleman. I will be next on flight home soon. Watch this space.

Thank you so much Lynn for airing this discussion. At least one person spoke what I thought! Our education needs to change. He is right. Most jobs are about technical or require vocational training. We need to advocate for change. Why keep a child for 18 years in school only to come out of uni not get employed! It's like we set ourselves and children to fail.

Hi team Lyn in 2020 after covid lockdown and required to work from home (with a good paying job in an international organisation) having been raised and schooled in Nairobi know nothing about ushago life. I relocated upcountry in July 2020to work from home in Kirinyaga. I am happy to tell you that am resigning from my organisation to focus on my new found faith "farming"and 🙏 the peace of mind, fresh air and fresh food that goes with it away from the hustle and bustle of Nairobi❤

I always say it since i came to Canada in 2020, anyway its my own opinion that abroad is not for getting rich but for survival. Maybe for me because I was living a life with less struggle in Uganda. To me Canada has been quite a struggle especially because I have to work 10× harder(I was living like a queen even with the little I had) I can't wait to get back to that queen life with less hard work. Knowing what I know now, I can be a millionaire in Uganda especially through farming. I have now learnt that grass is not always greener on the other side, I have appreciated my Uganda more. Can't wait to pack my bags to go build my empire in Uganda. Brother I'm with you on that, mine is not retiring per say but I'm going back home in 3year. Already in the process of setting things up
