I know he'll probably average like 18-22 PPG and 7-10 RPG if he stays with the Utah Jazz and gets a primary role.. but man inside.. i hope he gets like 25-28 PPG and establishes himself as a dominant force in the NBA... Colin Sexton and him both can really accomplish something if given the chance this year!

He could average 30ppg if he wasn't so unselfish....

Finnish athletes are almost always unselfish, no matter what sport we're speaking about. We're so small country that our play has always been team first, team play. That's why he doesn't take like 30-40 attempts per game.

@@devdog720 Lauri was finally unshackled and left alone to roam the court and cause mayhem and not sit in the corner and wait for his 6 three pointers per game if they happened to happen or not... Lauri has been really badly limited on the NBA in the last 3-4 seasons before he got to the Jazz. He was just as good on the Cavs and Bulls, but never got the opportunity to showcase his true potential. He was just another long shooter... Until the Jazz coach told him to play like he did for the national team and the rest is history. Just one person giving him the green light and it was off to the races... That seven footer coming down the full court with the ball is a scary sight for any defender. You either let him score or you have to foul him... It's just that he is so big and strong that he can finish through contact.

@@kinggamerz2838 because he has totally changed his physique training from Bulls years. The main focus of physique training has shifted away from gathering mass, which makes big guys injury prone. In the last two years Markkanen's weight has dropped 15 pounds.
The new objective has been set in explosiveness, improving maximum strength and staying healthy during the long season. Below are some quotes from Markkanen's physique trainer Jani Parkkinen who is also sports physiotherapeut and former basketball player (so he should know what he is doing)
      - ”The best performance is the ability to play, not being injured on the game day. According to studies an adequate maximum strength level of legs seems to be that kind of factor which protects from injuries”
      - "With Lauri we're doing extra work with his ankles, feet and calves. Last summer there was some work to be done in the pelvis and hip region, this season not so much.”
      - When asked how much can Markkanen still improve his physique, Parkkinen says ”It's hard to say where the ceiling is. But we are not there yet.”
Will this new training make Lauri's injuries less likely in NBA? Defnitely. But it doesn't mean Lauri couldn't get injured because no player is safe from injueries.
Anyway, Markkanen said himself he is now in the best shape of his life and it kind of showed in this EuroBasket tournament where Markkanen scored the most points of all players and was second in PPG (27.9 pts) after Giannis Antetokounmpo (29.3 pts). Doncic was only the 4th best (26 pts).
