This version is, of course, quite emblematic of Mancini himself, but I must admit that my favorite version of this song is Pat Metheny's from Missouri Sky.

That’s some fancy witchy voodoo or something because I developed a strong dislike of this song and every other on the album of Joni it appeared on due to an employer who refused to play anything else in our store CD player on Saturdays afternoons which was the only day I worked there. The lady had two other albums for MWF and Tuesday and Thursday so although I forgot the musicians being it was well over 20 years ago. The ukulele happens by chance to be the instrument of choice of the former friend who broke up my marriage far to recently far too recently to have gotten past that yet I’ve never heard this channel it came up in recommendations …. I don’t know how you have made them both new again and good for you and I both there because I believe that was a necessity for me not to just go out like a Christmas light this weekend. Thank you.❤
