- In this video I made a birdhouse for swallows from scrap pieces of pine. This is not the typical kind of video I love to make but I wanted to do a little social experiment. Let me know in the comments which kind of video do you prefer to see on this channel!

Great idea/plans...... the hole near the top, it’s a nesting house for spring/summer. Put the hole near the bottom, and it becomes a rousting house for the winter - giving birds warmth and shelter! A project I’d like to do with my son! Thanks for the video, good inspiration!!!!!
I wouldn't glue the top. I would run a wire from the bottom through the top. Anchor it on the underside. Have it come out the top and use as hanger. That way you could lift the cap to clean out old nest for next season. It's a win-win.

Cute bird houses, but good luck cleaning out the old nests. BTW, that didn't look like scrap pieces of pine to me. It looked like you cut up nice clear boards for what COULD HAVE been done with scrap.

I quite like sections of videos that are speeded up, providing there is either an accompanying voiceover, or on-screen text annotation. Sometimes the detail is otherwise lost in the speedy production. In this video, just about everything that needed to be communicated came through, even without much 1x. Nice build.

Nice work but a 🐦house needs a couple of drainage 🕳s in the bottom, it needs a few ventilation 🕳s or a slightly opened slot at the top and it Definitely needs to be able to be opened by you so it can get cleaned out of feces, mites, and potentially dead baby birds which will be impossible for the parent birds to remove...If you hinged the bottom and put in drainage and ventilation holes, it'll be perfect! Not trying to be a nudge here...I do love the craftsmanship...Also oiling and waxing the outside will keep it in great condition for years to come...I did sub btw!! 👍 😆 🤣 😂

Great project. Just one criticism. I see numerous birdhouse builders hang their houses with a cord/rope. I don't know where you people live. But where I am located we suffer a lot of high winds. Not uncommon having 30, 40 mile an hour wind. And with the severe storms we get, like yesterday. Trees are uprooted, fences are taken down, etc. Hanging the birdhouse by cord would be a big fail here.

Pat, love the project! For a beginning turner like myself I would love to hear or see you explain the process of cutting the parts a little more. Like when your cutting the circles for the top and bottom is each one 3/4 or an 1" smaller or so on. Thanks for the laughs always a good one from your vids.

Hey, real nice video/project! If I were to try this myself what width is the wood you use to make the body of the birdhouse and what angle do you cut it at on the table saw so you can glue it round?

Le PicBois when you are stopped at the border don’t be surprised 😮. It wasnt my idea. I was inspired to make it after I had seen it in a Woodsmith Magazine. I don’t have an original bone in my body. If people only make original things, we will run out of stuff.
Le PicBois you don’t have to do that. Just send the curds and we are even. My video had 2300 views for 30days. It is now over 70k, so I’m very happy. Good Luck with it.
