To be upfront, I have nothing but support for Coach Paint or ANY of our players. This is a good, good team. Having said that, take a look at how our offense was clicking earlier in the season. It was a pass and move, pass and move offense until we found a good open shot or an organic inside passing lane to Zach. Unfortunately, in the past 4-5 games what we have seen is Bradon doing too much dribbling. That was particularly true today against Ohio State. No ball movement. Its much easier to keep track of the ball on defense when one guy is moving the ball on the dribble. Ball movement, ball movement, ball movement. Keep the defense moving, adjusting. Seams will open up, double teams on Zach will lead to defensive holes. When the ball does get to Zach double and triple team help will be farther away and moving shooters will get open. Get the shooters involved, get the ball in their hands. Mason couldn't get a look at an open 3 today, Fletch or Lance either. (All good shooters) Those open 3's don't happen as often when you move the ball at the speed of a guy dribbling. Pass and move. Don't help the defense by giving them time to get set all the time. Maybe it is coincidence but the Cousy award snub for Bradon may be in his head a bit. He IS one of the best point guards in the country. I love the guy. But perhaps he is trying to do too much right now by controlling the game on the dribble. Im old enough to remember the 1980 trip to the final four with Joe Barry Carroll and Jerry Sichting. Jerry was a good, good point guard (played in the NBA for a while) and Joe Barry was dominant. Well Zach is even more dominant and Bradon reminds me a lot of Jerry. This team has all the pieces to win the NATY but team needs to come first.
Playing Loyer so much just pisses me off, he just saps all the energy and Braden pays so much attention to him when Colvin is open or Mason is, the Loyer passes up open shots. It's frustrating when he gets stubborn with Loyer, play our shooters and encourage them to play harder.
Morton couldn’t even guard FDUs guards. Give Colvin more minutes. He looked great on Thornton and his team d will get better if we play him more. Painter is playing horrible lineups.
That's so nice. Is there a collegiate award for that? Maybe his Demeanor will get Purwont to the second round? Maybe Paint will send you an autographed "Empathy" warmup? I can guarantee you, NCAA tourney Champs aren't motivated by nice guys losing games.

In this entire post game press conference, there is exactly zero evaluation of the coaching staff. Is that the secret unwritten rule? That you're not allowed to challenge coaching decisions or you'll get kicked out of the presser? Turnovers are definitely a problem. But one thing opponents have come to rely on when playing Purdue, is that we won't pressure the ball. No half court trap. Nothing. You would think when we are in a tight game and need to re-motivate our team generating some pressure on the ball would be called for. I just don't understand why Purdue never pressures the ball. In my mind that is a big coaching mistake. Just as it is to always play man to man defense.
I’m watching now about half way thru…hopefully someone has the courage to ask him why he played down to their pace? Morton and Loyer are non factors offensively and to some extent defensively. Where was TKR…where was Colvin…where was Furst…where was Gillis? Too much Loyer and Morton to be a factor offensively today. This coaching performance reminded me of FDU to a tee. Horrible matchup coach…
Turnovers were a big problem. OSU got 22 points off our turnovers! The other issue was our non-aggressive defense. We tried to trap the ball just once the entire game!
I was a 7th grade coach, so I don't have the credentials to critique a Division 1 coach in a tough league who has been ranked top 5 all season. There is nothing a coach can do to prevent players from getting over confident or not playing at their peak every minute all season. The teams that will be successful, and win their leage, their leage tournament and get to the Final 4 are going to have players that know themselves, and know what it takes to be focused and in the zone--and do it. And they know themselves enough to not get hyped up to the point they make bad decisions or nervous shots. I think that Purdue has the teamwork attitude and the talent to win the NCAA. But so do a dozen other schools. Perhaps the team that makes themselves get the most out of the remainiing practices will take home the trophy. Painter alluded to the fact that it's the players that win games. But we all know that the coach is a key component of the team. If the coach doesn't like every one of the players and if even one player doesn't like the coach then the team won't gel to it's full potential.
In the unlikely scenario that coach reads this, when you were just starting grade school, My 7th grade team at Cowan, demolished the Delta 7th grade team with aggressive man-to-man help defense. And then we went onto beat a great Yorktown team to win the county championship. And then our high school varsity went on to win the Muncie Sectional. Our school had about 20% of enrollment of the other schools. Beyond the bragging, the point is that in any given game our tournament it is 5-at-a-time against the other 5. Talent and preparation are major--but not everything. It's desire that wins games and championships--and I've seen examples of that from most members of Purdue's team in spurts throughout the season. But there are games when it's missing. And I have seen Ohio State, Nebraska, and Northwestern play with well-channeled desire this season. It happens.
Purdue not a #1 seed. Probably be in same bracket as Creighton or Dayton and lose to them in 2nd round Purdue is a solid 3 or 4 seed. Trust me, they have no prayer to make the Final Four. Very average team.

In fairness to Edey, some of those 6 TOs should have been called as fouls. But to your point, I believe he needs to work on keeping the ball high to make it tougher for an opponent to swat it away.

I hate to have to say it, but this team is lacking one piece that would put them into the final four - an above average small forward of the offensive and defensive end. We don’t have that. We’ll get maybe to the Sweet 16. Final Four or a Naty? Um, no. The forty plus year disappointment will continue.

Purdue isn't that good. Big Ten refs tried to carry Purdue and their giant at the foul line and they failed miserably. Ohio State didn't even get a one and one until 40 seconds left in the second half. Great win for the Buckeyes but Purdue is very overrated.
Respectfully disagree. Their resume is incredibly good. One loss and people tend to overreact. Basketball is volatile and even great teams lose games, especially on the road.

Also how the refs completely changed the way they were officiating after the first half. OSU and Purdue were tied with 5 or so fouls each after the 1st half, then all of a sudden OSU got 15 more and purdue didn’t get any till 2 min left in the game. I agree with most the calls but the lack of calls on Purdue was just kinda odd.
