Aircraft engine testbeds are usually large multi-engine aircraft with wings long and strong enough to mount another underwing engine...and can fly at extreme altitudes like modified B747 or B52 for high altitude testing...because the testbed aircraft must be able to fly when the tested engine fails...and house large volumes of testing sensor systems and possible test evaluation personnel....
Both s5 class and ssn will join the navy by 2030s. We need to construct them fast. Also the SBC must be expanded to construct ssn and SSBN simultaneously
l&t has done a tremendous job in defence sector in a very short span of time as it saves time and money. It will be more visible in every order they get. Hats off to our private sector.

Only sensible comment here! Yes India is trying to win the marathon after running 41.5 kms at a snail's pace, and finishing the last lap of the marathon in a 100 m style 9.65 sec finish! Nevertheless, we lost a lot of precious time for over 50 years in making our own weapons systems. It's partly due to some of our PSUs being in slumber and also lack of political will. Let's hope that in the next decade, India is not only a military superpower but also a major defence exporter!

L&T is a well-managed private sector company while GSL is a PSU ran by government babus . DRDO, OFB and HAL also fall in the category of Babus' ran PSUs. L&T delivers most of its commitments on or ahead of schedule while PSUs take their own sweet time to deliver with multiple delays.
Privatisation is the only way. Gone are the days when you were nurtured by tax payers. Its time you get out of your home, innovate and earn yourself to serve the nation in a better way.
