Story City, Iowa is the featured town in the pilot episode of "A Place to Grow" from WOI-TV. This program originally aired on WOI-TV on April 18, 1977. Fred Kalamaja, a Story City resident, was the producer of the series. Dennis Flickinger, also a Story City resident, was the cinematographer, and Betty Lou Varnum is the co-producer.
