    What we REALLY need and I think a lot want, is custom modular animal pens / paddocks.
    Placeable fences, with separate water and feed troughs (both fence style and stand alone for in the middle of the field) along with animal loading gates.
    The fences, fence line troughs and loading gates all act as permanent barriers for specific types of animals (eg, 3 wire fences won't contain chickens) and regular gates act as temporary barriers.
    Each trough has its own storage capacity, so like silos you can add more storage by adding more troughs.
    You can load multiple types of feed in a single trough, or use one trough per feed type.
    The loading gates act as a trailer interaction zone while regular gates will allow you to open access into lane ways, other paddocks etc with the help of a cattle dog to heard them.
    Assuming the fencing supports (can contain) an animal, any number of any animal can occupy the field.
    So sheep, pigs, cows can all use a field at the same time, but with a disadvantage to production or health.
    Then animal specific equipment can be placed, with or without fence snapping support.
    Such as barns for shelter, milking / shearing sheds, static and rotating brushes.
    Treatment crushes (to capture a single animal and allow treatment of worming, hoof care etc), sorting gates would add even further immersion.
    Of course, the icing on the cake would be to have gendered animals (besides chickens and roosters) with a single male being limited to mating a certain amount of females, babies being male or female, with male dairy cows being all but useless aside from breeding and lower quality meat etc.
    And female dairy cows needing to give birth before producing milk, going dry after some time and needing to give birth again.
    I mean, all the steps and detail that goes into crop farming and animals are so much of an after thought.
    You look at a real farm and you'll often find animal farms have so much more daily work to do where as crop farming tends to be periods of long hours when conditions are right for planting, harvesting etc and periods of when it's just a waiting game (not to suggest one is easier than the other).

      @@crnoman9408 umm, the feed lot pack is nothing but a high capacity yard that doesn't produce milk.
      And FS19 seasons did not have placable fences they contained animals in the way I described.

    This was sorely needed. I also think that the "dog" should have an effect on you herd. Your heard should face predation. At the moment, a dog does nothing. A dog should allow for reduced predation. You should be able to add farm dogs until the predaton rate drops to zero. And you should have to feed your dog.

    Love the sound of this mod, but one thing I've notice is that the cows now eat and produce 10x more - in the base game they eat 15 TMR however in the mod they now eat 150, they produce similar numbers of milk and slurry - so when I have a barn with 200 cows and ONLY 70,000 TMR space, they eat the whole lot in the month. I'm now forever going back and forth topping them up and emptying the milk & slurry.
    One thing I HATE is the modder never even mentioned this change on the description. Great mod, other than this....

      this was an issue for me too. But it can be fixed if you're using a modded barn. Open the mod file of the barn you're using. Unzip it, open the xml file in a text editor like Visual Studio Code, find the capacity values for what you want to increase, and change the values to whatever you like. Save the file, zip it back up, and put it back in the mod folder. I increased my capacities by an order of magnitude

      @@jareidsI ended up doing this, and then had to update the server and supply the changes (with a new mod name) to the other players on the server. I just wish modders would put all the information on the description when they change the values so drastically.

    Just need more maps coming with baby/small animals to simulate growth, so you can keep an eye on the pins visually with out having to go into the menu. I know Ballyspring is coming with the Hof Bergmann style animals, would love if some of the US/ North American maps could get those implemented.

      That was nice and an interesting balance to sheep given they are so easy to keep. With the wool output being limited to just a short period in the spring helped balance them from a profit standpoint.

    This would actually make pigs profitable. Even if mostly sold as piglets. And I sold the pig area on my current map and built new stuff in the area... Damnit....

    Thanks for explaining this mod. Since FS19 I have been just a crop farmer because animals seemed broken. But I have decided to get involved with animals more in fs22.
    I started using a meat processing mod which actually makes animals profitable. This Enhanced Animal System mod will help.

      Is the meat processing plant like a slaughter house? I have looked over so many mods and can’t find a slaughter house type mod. It would be cool to be able to have a production that actually produces meat patties to sell.

    I've had problems with this mod, I wonder if you might be able to shed some light on it for me? When I try a new game without this mod it screws up several things, and stallions that I had disappear, the miking dries up as well. I just did a live stream today on Prairie farm Michigan, when I tried to uninstall the mod, my animals disappeared! Will they upgrade this mod?

    Sounds a bit unrealistic, you can't get a pig preg several times in a row for example or chickens don't lay down that often on eggs either.. one option would be to allow offspring once/year or stop breeding at any point.. and can't offspring without male.
    But what is the worst in this mod it's the amount of food they now consume, it's probably 10 times more food used on each month, most of the pastures or coops don't even have that food capacity installed, you go sleep and wake up all the food or most of it is gone and on the other side the production of eggs, wool, milk it;s the same as the previous... so that s a big "no" for me..
    The mod has another option if I remember, if the health drops too much the animal will die which that can happen pretty much the next day if they run out of food overnight because your coop can't support 5k of barley but your chickens eat the 5k L every month.

      Pigs have litters so having 1 offspring is unrealistic for pigs as is with chickens aswell.

    Are these realistic numbers? I can’t imagine a chicken sitting on 10+ eggs at once and the piglet litter seems way high as well. Maybe it’s meant to simulate the longer time period it’s covering like if we play 1 day months then it’s adding extra offspring to account for all those missing days?

      From Google, The average litter size is 7.5 pigs, and it is not uncommon for a sow to have 12-14 pigs per litter. The gestation period of a sow (from the time she is bred until she farrows) is 114 days. A sow can have her first litter at approximately one year of age. So ya pigs do reproduce almost as much as the stereotypical rabbit.

    The CSZ pack has a chicken transport cage/crate but I couldn’t figure out how to use it.

      You use a fork to lift it onto the back of a flat bed or into a trailer then drive to the animal dealer and park on the trigger. When you get out of the vehicle and click the animal dealer trigger you will see the normal animal buying options but you’ll notice there’s no delivery fee on the chickens. Each crate can only haul 8 birds though so don’t be alarmed when your buy option stops at 8 if you have one crate. bring at least two crates with you or you’ll be making many trips. Then you drive them to your chicken pen paw print trigger and click on it and you’ll be able to unload there.

      Not sure, Given that Maize plus changes animal behavior it could conflict. The only way to know would be to try it out.

      @@FarmerKlein I’ve been running it with maize plus on a number of maps and so far have not seen any conflict or odd behaviour in fact I think it compliments maize plus. What we need now is a mod that allows transfer of animals between pens or paddocks on a single farm with no cost just enter source and quantity then destination and they get moved

      @@Elzorro574 not for 250 cows moving from one paddock to another right next to each other. or brining in 200 cows from the pasture into a barn for winter . This is always done by walking them in real life. trailers are for small numbers usually going off farm for sale etc. Its okay i have a work around simply open all theneessay gates etc as if going to walk them. Go into xml make a simple change and the cows move to the next pasture. close all the gates and then advance the time by maybe a hour or more depending on the length of the move to simulate the time expect ended in a move.

      Yes I know, I did a hof bergmann explained video on all the animals. There is at least one independent mod being developed to bring this to FS in general.
