It should tell you how wild of a take this is that MauLer couldn't even repeat it in GDELB without breaking character to tell the audience directly that he is NOT making this up.

Video essays were always a way to manipulate the viewer, Rags used to make the same content until he dropped his channel to do the podcast. Video essay people are nothing more than leeches trying to stoke flames of rebellion towards the systems that have worked for years.
I don't *believe* you. Or *him,* if that's what *his* cope was for the reception it got. It's only a "joke" in the derogatory way. It's just as bad as the vast majority of his other videos.
Is it really racist to say the Vietnamese were like aliens to the Americans? The Klingons in Star Trek are inspired by the Mongolians, and I can't say who Ferengis are based on.
It would be thing to say they were foreign or different but problem is the usage of alien which implies something unknowable or unknown. Except we are talking about another group of people where it is easy to find the motivations for them fighting and in a war where it was broadly televised and known. Filmento just made a completely retarded comparison.
@ROCKET ATTACK Okay, so the Vietnamese in this case are being compared to a vicious alien race of monsters that are intent to wipe out the entire human race on the planet for reasons unknown.
@ROCKET ATTACK Except he used the word allegory, which means to be a narrative or visual representation of character, place, or events to represent hidden meaning of moral of political significance. Now again, we are applying alien space monsters to the Vietnamese during the Vietnam War to the Tommorrow War, and the whole stark cultural difference seems stupid when looking at the events of both and the Aliens not having not much of a culture. I get the idea of what he is going for, but it goes far past clumsy and into stupid town when looking at this whole thing.
@ROCKET ATTACK Mate the Vietnam War comparison is way off, and it doesn't work just because the Dad is a Vietnam War Vet. Firstly, the Tomorrow War is about an Alien race invading hell bent on wiping out the entire human race for unknown reason and suffering a massive amount of inconsistent plot armor. Now, apply this to the Vietnam War, and this quickly becomes dumb as it was widely known what reasons the war was being fought on for both sides and wasn't solely on the survival of the human race. Furthermore, the North Vietnamese wasn't some unstoppable force during that war as they suffered enormous damage and were barely holding it together by the near end of the war. Also, do tell me the huge cultural similarities the Vietnamese have with giant evil bug aliens? Otherwise, this whole culture shock allegory falls flat.

I met somebody from Vietnam once. I showed them hospitality since I knew they had traveled several lightyears and would need the rest.
😂😂
Add him to the list of film reviewers who let their messy morals slip out while reaching for a theme.

As a Vietnamese, I laughed my freaking ass off when I saw this EFAP
how does it feel to be an alien race? :V
There is a Vietnamese part of town here and I heard there is a big brothel there. Time to live my Mass Effect fanfic.
This was the most outrageous take I've heard in the longest time. I about lost my mind when I first heard it!
Nah there's the person that reviewed Elden Ring and actually said "If the game isn't for everyone it shouldn't be made".

If he's an extraterrestrial then it makes sense for him to view the Vietnamese as an alien race.🤔

So the real question…is filmento based or cringe for this one?
He is in the rare gray where he is somehow both at the same time, truly impressive.
cringe. Unless he means communists are aliens, in which case, based.

The film was never about a specific war, trying to generalize it to one is missing the whole point of the movie’s theme.
