  • edit since some people are concerned about the kite not flying well: This kite isn't made to fly high in the sky, It's a short easy project for a large group of students. The students did have lots of fun making the kite and then running with it. It is very easily breakable so many of the kids broke theirs when they ran too fast. But it was also a good critical thinking lesson, because I had them write about how well it stood up and how well it flew as well as how they could make a better kite themselves. If you are interested in proper kite construction for height and distance check out these resources: www.grc.nasa.g... www.my-best-kit... www.pbs.org/wet...
A lesson I'm going to do with fifth grade (It will probably be a disaster. But a fun disaster so oh well.) about hand making a simple kite out of cling wrap, straws, tape, string, and sharpies.
iMPORTANT thing I left off! the kite needs a tail to fly properly! attach some streamers or something to the bottom and you're good to go.
Editing and music added by my brother.
