I'm glad to see support for British watchmakers, as I'm a fan myself. I own a Fears Brunswick Pt, and as a collector, I buy watches as investments. Even though it's such an iconic piece, I'd like to do some research and find out its worth to potentially make some profit.
How did you grow your portfolio to $52m, I'm impressed, I have a lump sum in the bank, the rates are not impressive so I'm moving it, what's your cash flow like?
Yes! Finally the Stirling video has arrived. You may remember me asking if you were going to feature them a couple of months ago! I own the Fraser, Durrant & Gibson from Stirling timepieces. They have all served around the world with me. Incredible quality timepieces.
Wow MWC, love all 3. The EC looks really classy and top quality and the Stirling really speaks to me, love the name and the whole vibe and he has lots of beauties on the site, the Campbell for example is awesome. Thank you, great stuff 👌
Great video, I have three Marloe’s already and I can vouch for their quality and beauty, I must admit to being very taken by the Edward Christopher, I’ve had a look and if I were to go for one it would be the red one as I have a blue Doxa Caribbean that looks similar to the blue Edward. Super video and maybe you’ve hit upon a little theme here where you can do micro brand watches by country of origin? Keep well Russ and I look forward to the next instalment.

Love this new segment! So far my favorite British brand is Fears from all that I have seen from different British brands. Love the history, the style and design language, and the story of Nicholas Bowman-Scargill reviving the family watch company after hearing about it from his Mom over a Sunday roast! The Brunswick 38 in white, salmon, and that champagne are super awesome. I also love how transparent they are about where their cases, sapphire, hands/indices, dials, movement, and strap all come from. My wish is that one day they can get as to close to in-house as possible and can then finally put "Bristol" back on the dial vice "England". If I had 3500 USD lying around, I'd be buying that Champagne Brunswick 38 right quick. It's been on my list for a couple years now. Hopefully you can get more Fears on the channel at some point! I just wanted you to know that here in Lincolnshire you have a very satisfied customer who will be showing off your watch with pride. 👍⌚♥
Great video Russ and a really honest review of some breakthrough UK brands. I am already a Marloe convert (Coniston Trackday) and likely to buy others. It would be great to see a review of Studio Underdog, a UK brand doing things totally left field compared to most and currently with a bit of a cult following. Are they any good? I don’t know but I reckon you’re the man to find out.
From these three watches I really like the Stirling watch as it truly is a military inspired one. The other watch I really like is the final Christopher Edward watch with the amazing blue dial and that is the one I would probably purchase. The size would be perfect for me and it really wears well on your wrist. I agree with you on the latter one though the lettering is a bit too big and would have looked better without the CE logo at the top so that it would be more compact. No a big issue though but just imo. Thanks for showing these wonderful watches Russel and I will definitely be checking these out.
Thanks for recommending the Stirling, just bought one off the back of the video 👍 I liked the look of the 'Black Edition' of the Marloe, shame it had sold out. 'Medicinal vibes' 😂😂👌🤙🖖✌🤘👏🍻
Love my Stirling Brunt! I have the DLC AUTO version. Its an older version so it has the white date wheel and the new ones have a black date wheel with a cleaner look. Nevertheless I wear the Brunt dailey and its heald up great!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR yes mate!!!! Can’t wait. I’ve been down to Shepard market and had a look at one in the metal. I think they’ve struck balance between retaining the classic charm and the modern updates perfectly IMO. Can’t wait to see what you think about it.
Alkin would be good to see. I’d love to see you review the Model Two white dial if they’ve got any to lend you and Scurfa watches are worth reviewing but they sell out in seconds
Hi Russell 👋🏻, I know how you’re into military background stories of watches- a few months back I purchased a limited edition of Avi-8 Twilight Tear, which they advertised has a small piece from the wing of a particular P-51 Mustang that served at the end of WW2 in Europe. And it does! Yet I did more in-depth research, by the serial tail number of that specific plane. I Got to learn much more! This P-51 served in Europe during April and May 1945, it has 3 air wins including one shooting down a Messerschmitt Me 262-the jet fighter!! It also participated in the raid on the eagles nest, Hitler’s lair in Berchtesgaden, which demolished the place. Than I tracked the plane which was sold to the Swedish air force and than, at 1953, to the Israeli air force. It served in the war in 1956 -a joined operation with Britain and France concerning the Suez Canal. And I’m half Hungarian, half Israeli☝🏻.
I really like the watches from Forge & Foster based in London. Amazing quality, for really affordable prices. I own 2 watches from the brand and I love both!
The first one looks like a Marathon Navigator homage. Stirling has a few Rolex homages on their website too. The third one looks like it's DOXA inspired, sharing a few elements. Marloe is the standout, since it is a brand that creates stylish and distinctive designs, and they're very open about where their products are made - currently Japan and Switzerland, with the aim to bring assembly to the UK in the future. At the end of the day, most microbrands are watch design companies, they don't manufacture much by themselves. As far as I know there are only 2 British watch companies that produce everything entirely in-house. Still, it's a start, and if these companies expand they may be able to invest in bringing back manufacturing too.
The Edward Christopher story is a little cheesy. The watch is okay but for the price, I absolutely expect an option for a bracelet. No exception for that much money. Lastly, I don't think there is anyone making watches in the world, let alone the UK like Schofield. They're mind-blowing.
I’d like others to know about Monro. My Monro Adventure in arctic white arrived a couple weeks ago and L-O-V-E it! It’s an awesome 1st offering. They have a diver coming very soon as well.
All very interesting but for the Stirling I can't get past the seconds hand not striking the mark! Sorry but why can't makers ensure this? Is it the Ronda movement?
Like any dice bezel my friend. There is an orange painted triangle on it. Turn it to line up with the minute hand and you can track the time elapsed or from the minute hand, move it to the amount of minutes you need to time something. When the minute hand reaches the orange triangle , you’ve made it;)
Hi Russell, how about Alsta who made the Nautoscaph Superautomatic made famous by Richard Dreyfuss’ character Matt Hooper in the movie Jaws. The company has a great history and has been reborn in British hands.. Definitely check it out I think you’d love the watch and particularly the bracelet. Cheers. Glenn.

Not a fan of those Stirling watches, just look like seiko mods. In fact I made a very similar watch to one of theirs with parts off ali express and it even has the same movement. The other 2 watches are excellent, especially the Edward Christopher, brand i'd never heard of until now.
That Stirling needs even more indices on both the dial and the bezel and of course the case back ... perhaps remove the numerals and the hands to make the indices more visible. 🤷♂
Did you read the history of the name of Edward Christopher? Named after the founder's great uncle and father. CHRISTOPHER EdWARD yeah right. I bet this guy is not even English. Yeah, I bet this guy wants his company to be bought by Christopher Ward. CW needs to send them a cease and desist letter.

Yup - I really do like the first two, and Marloe has been a watchmaker that I've been looking at for a while - but hell no to the last one. The Edward Christopher looks like a throw together of some really bad style ideas. Imho.
