    Want to learn how to apply beard balm like a boss? Not sure what beard balm is? For starters, beard balm is a control/styling product for your beard that is made up of waxes, butters, and oils. It's a cross between beard oil and mustache wax. It can go by a couple of other names including beard wax and beard butter.
    To apply beard balm simply open the tin and use the back of your thumbnail to scrape some out. Warm the balm in between your fingers by rubbing them together. Gently apply the balm to your beard with your fingers and massage it in. Use a comb to then evenly distribute the balm. A brush can be used for this step but a comb is much easier to clean and maintain when applying product.
    Beard balm is a versatile product. You don't need to fully apply it as it can be used sparingly in problem areas such as the sideburns. As a control product it is designed to help give shape and keep down stray hairs. It may take a few tries to get the amount right but once you do you'll be ready to hit the town.

      If that balm is oil bases at all which like 99.9% are that first amount on your thumb should be more than enough for your whole beard.. you arent making fried donuts bro..just supporting the beard, no need for that much at all.

    Beard Baron, a quick shout out for every dose of advice and knowledge you send our way and to your business-just ordered some wash, oil, and a brush. Not to mention my mind is blown after discovering your mug and Stein, tailored for mustaches-would love to score one. Starting to grow my beard fur 13 weeks on Jeff's Beard Board, and aside from the different skills I pick up with your videos, the only lingering questions and concerns gravitate in the realms of kissing. I'm on week 11, and already noticed a huge shift in kissing my fiancee, and curious if there are any tips involved so I'm not kissing or sucking on my own facial hair. I like it. But not too that extent... Would be an interesting topic or post, to talk about the subject matter, what to expect, or various techniques. Something I never thought about before growing. Thanks in advance, it's appreciated, keep bearding and stay classy.

    • @thebeardbaron
      @thebeardbaron  9 років тому +1

      +Brandon Cope Thank you for the shout out Brandon! You'll love the mug and stein, not a day goes by where I don't use them, a real convenience. As for kissing it's all about the angle and your fiancee's willingness to cooperate and modify how she kisses as well. Keep in mind that it will never be like kissing without a mustache but making the best out of it.

    • @LennyEevee
      @LennyEevee 9 років тому

      Thanks for the words, at least it's a learning curve for the both of us so we can tackle the oddities together. All about the angles. Nice winter workshop to look forward to. As always, keep up with the posts and giving guidance-the more you post, the more I can learn and teach my future sons if fate deals me some. Beard on!

    • @drjoe1886

      What works for me is, when I go to kiss my wife, I stick my lips out further, kind of like a vacuum cleaner. As I stick my lips further out, I make sure to get as much of her lips inside mine as I can. This creates a type of seal that prevents my mustache and/or beard hair from getting inside. So both of us end up getting more lips and less hair. Try it. If all else fails, just give her the tongue bro; can't go wrong with that. If your beard is longer than your tongue, then that could be a problem and I'm unsure of how to help with that. You can always keep your lip line trimmed and that can help too; make sure the hair doesn't cover your lips. Hope that helps :-) Maybe the Beard Baron can do a video on how to trim and create a neat lip line under the mustache and around the lips.

    I'm attempting to grow a beard, currently my beard is about 2 inches in length. I have sparse areas and my beard hair is very curly, usually I would just cut it down short. Recently I've been determined to grow it out, I like the way it looks longer. This video helped a lot with my recently beard balm purchase, I was pretty lost as to how to apply it right. I may not get mine to this guys length, but I hope over time and with much brushing it will like as full bodied. Thanks for the helpful video!

    You mentioned curly beards at the end of this video. What advice do you have for the curly beardsmen? As it seems to be quite a different thing to maintain a straight-haired vs. curly-haired beard. For example, I feel as if my beard is more prone to dryness than a straight beard, and my beard can tolerate, and perhaps requires more oil than the straight beards would...

      Brandon Kramer Beard balms have bees wax and wax is a great beard softener and conditioner. It coats the hairs and stay in the beard longer. If you have a dry beard (I do), the balm will be a great choice. You will notice a big difference with the natural abilities of the wax.

    One thing I found out about balm is, that when it's rainy or snowing outside, I feel that the product protects my beard from the outside influences and feels much better, so I use it whenever I go outside (half oil, half balm) when I'm doing my night regimen, it's just oil, but I'd recommend balm before going out especially with guys that have more sensitive hair going (like myself) - just throwing that out there, when you've got a beard that doesn't feel right when it has been snowing or raining, try beard balm before going outside, give it 15 minutes before you leave, and - for me - that worry was outta the window.

    I would not recommend using any paper-towel product to remove oil/balms. They will leave all kinds of little paper specs in your beard. Also, I will run my hands back through my hair with whatever is left over after application. I have long hair and it's always up so this helps a little with THAT hold and also adds some scent to my hair as well.
    Just a little FYI, but it's whatever works for ya'll!

    Two questions, Baron.
    1.What do you think of coconut oil as a beard care product? I tend to use a lot of it just as a moisturizer for my face and hands, but sometimes rub it into my beard as well. Wondering if that's a good thing or not.
    2.How do you avoid getting your moustache caught in your mouth when you eat? Been trying to grow mine out to match my beard, but I keep chewing on it by accident. Very annoying, and embarrassing if it happens in public.

      joegt123 I had the same issue with my 'stache until I started to "Train" it to grow to the sides. Combing, oiling and/or waxing to the sides works incredibly well. Now I don't floss my front teeth while eating!

      Steve Heglund I try to keep it combed to the side, but whenever I eat, it just gets pulled in. Especially if it's anything sandwich-y.

      joegt123 i have a 2 year old big big moustache and i can tell you a thing:have a big moustache imply some problem.if you want to eat sandwich,carry with you a little knife and cut it in a tight pieces.,break the food,open your mouth wide,use tea spoon instead of a normal spoon for soups.the rule is:smaller food,easier eat. can seem hard,but is just a matter of habit.last but not least,i train my beard and moustache with blowdry and it last without use of wax or similar things.sry for my english :)

    Hate how everyone says something different lol. He says put it in dry. Others say put it in right after a shower so it’s damp. Just crazy how there isn’t a set way. But awesome stuff man.

      What if you like the shine the beard oil gives but want the styling the balm produces. Could you use oil, then balm and then do a light over the top with oil again?

    If you wanted to use both oil and balm does it matter which one you apply first? And also how often can you apply balm in a day

      +Christopher Greco "When using both you'd oil lightly first then lightly use balm as a top
      coat. Otherwise you could fully oil the night before than fully balm in
      the morning."

    Hi, I have a very curly beard, and I use your "pure" beard balm. Is it OK to use a boars hair brush after applying the balm, like you say in the video? I've been brushing first then styling by hand to ovoid ripping hairs out. My beard is the same size as yours, but unbelievably curly.

    What's the difference between beard oil in a bottle and "dry" beard oil in a tin vs beard balm? Or is it all essentially the same but in different forms? Thanks.

    Do you use this beard balm instead of beard oil or do you use both at the same time?
