I have two of these laptops. I plan to sell one but need to swap the higher spec graphics card in that one with the one in the laptop that I want to keep. Swapping the GPU cards means an almost complete stripdown of both laptops. I reckon this will take me most of a day - I plan to undertake this on my next day off work. These laptops are fantastic value for money even in 2024. Cheap, sturday and great build quality. I upgraded mine to 32gb of RAM and 1.5TB SSDs and host virtual machines using Virtualbox.
Just picked up one of these today at a flea market. $40 and it runs great. Going to upgrade the I5 to an I7 and look at a faster graphics card. This thing was $1600 brand new. Looking at the device manager it’s got both an AMD and Intel HD Graphics drivers… weird.
Didn't do any research regarding drivers, but could it be intel for or on board integrated graphics and AMD for a GPU that I think could be replaceable in this laptop...
Oh yeah and Dell still have all of the drivers and whatnot up on their website (amazingly). If you google Dell M6800 you should see a support page for it via Dell. That's where you can find the BIOS update for the machine and whatnot.
I liked and subbed. I have a question for anyone: I have an M6800 with a 1080p display but no webcam. I can buy the integrated webcam and bezel on eBay. Is there anyway to retrofit a webcam ( like an unpopulated connector somewhere in the lid or mobo) to do this operation? Thanks for any response in advance.
I see there are some webcams for sale on eBay and even a front bezel with webcam hole. I would think it could have a webcam connector somewhere on the motherboard... But that's not a guarantee. Also just replacing a front bezel might not work. But it all depends on what they have designed...

Wow 40 bucks for an M6800. What a bargain!
