I think you oversimplified the concept of the Living Tribunal. The Tribunal is not restricted only to magical imbalances. I agree that he did not stop Thanos in the Infinity Gauntlet. According to the comics and Marvel's official website, his reasoning was: "Although Eternity argued that Thanos was seeking to supplant its role in the universe, the Living Tribunal simply observed that it was the nature of all life, and it was allowed to be played out. However, when the gems wounded up in the custody of Adam Warlock, the Living Tribunal ordered that the gems be divided." When Warlock had the stones, the Tribunal did intervene and divided them, it invalidates your whole argument about magic. The Tribunal also intervened in the case of Protege whose powers seemed innate and not magical.
jamesleung0 I imagine rob is going off what the tribunal himself said in his first appearance. It was an an encounter with doctor strange where he explained his role and specified that he WAS in fact a judge of magic, although in later story’s writers seem to have just ignored this particular fact. So while rob is not technically wrong, he’s not right either

Actually, the Living Tribunal does intervene in events outside magic. He tried to stop Protege, but failed when Protege copied his powers as well. He didn't stop Thanos in Infinity War because it was basically natural selection, and he who had enough power to overthrow a cosmic entity was considered to be just the rule. The superiors replaced the lesser.

the living tribunal sounds useless AF I could see if it just "oh I know what's happening but I'm so powerful the problem warrant me wasting my time on it" that's fine with me but to me it like " Help the every God and cosmic entity is dead and the multiverse collapsing in on itself! *the living tribunal looks up from his paper* does it have anything to do with magic? no? then it's not my problem."
allan mallee Well actually it took basically all of the gods, cosmic entities, and Abstracts dying for him to finally intervene in the Time Runs Out Story-arc. But he has previously intervened in non-magical events.
yeah, I'm pretty sure it wasn't an issue about magic being misused. The Tribunal didn't help in "Infinity War" because he said it was the Cosmic Entities duty to not get replaced. A survival of the fittest mentality. If Eternity wasn't strong enough to prevent getting replaced, then it was it's own fault. Had Thanos just annihilated a ton of Cosmic Entities and not filled those roles himself, then there would be an imbalance. Which doesn't explain the "Cancerverse".

The Living Tribunal is concerned with cosmic imbalance, not just magic. He ordered Adam Warlock to separate the infinity gems. There’s more than one example to prove this point. This wouldn’t have annoyed me if you hadn’t have said “a lot of people think this, but they’re wrong.”

I'm a bit lost here, if the living Tribunal only cares about the magical balance , then why did he order Adam Warlock to distribute the Infinity gems among his friends in the Infinity watch?

Apparently the Living Tribunal ruled against Adam Warlock because he did not want to replace Eternity but rather co-exist with him. That would create an imbalance of power in the (main) universe, which of course has absolutely nothing to do with magic, but rather with power balance and stability. That bit is right after the Tribunal ruled against Eternity over the case Thanos (if I recall correctly), which was included in this video. So why was the ruling against Warlock disregarded, because it contradicted the stated purpose of the Tribunal?
Nikolaos hit the nail right on the head. Fanos was willing to usurp and replace the role of Eternity as the one and only eternity in which there would be no imbalance and that's why the tribunal didn't intervene. However Adam Warlock wanted to use the stones and coexist with eternity which is impossible because eternity cannot be split into two different abstracts yes. Which makes me wonder why Warlock didn't just agreed to usurp the role of Eternity and completely take over that role. Then the tribunal wouldn't have interfered and he could have kept his complete omnipotence instead of losing all the gems at the Judgment of the Living Tribunal

The Tribunal did intervene and rule that the Infinity Gems could no longer be used in unison. The Tribunal also intervened when Thanos had the Heart Of The Universe.

I think the Tribunal works like this:
If there is a magical im balance then it will come to whoop dat ass
If it sees someone trying to work with the same roles as you
( Adam Warlock trying to work alongside Eternity as the universe representation) then It will come for that ass
If a being becomes too powerful and happens to be multiversal threat (Protege )
Or They start to try become just like the one above all ( Thanos with the H.O.T.U) Then that ass must be dragged to court because there must only be only two beings that hold supreme in this bullshit hierarchy of a franchise and that is me and my omnipotent boss
And last,but not least if you don't belong in this multiverse (Beyonders) then you will haf to walk dat ass back to the shit hole you call a reality or I will have to drag you there MYSELF!!!!

If the living tribunal would never intervene in the infinity gauntlet (because it's not magic) then why did he make it so that the infinity gems can not be used together (infinity war)

I really love these kind of videos about the cosmic entities! I can't get enough information on these guys! The more the better as far as I say. When one of these cosmic guys fights another that's when things get awesome.
ComicsExplained- The more videos like this you can make the better. I know that there are other viewers like me who want to see more of this stuff to. I am talking about more comics with story arcs about the celestials would be a great place to start. Start a "Celestial Week" where you start narrating as many comics with stories featuring the Celestials as possible.
Then have an Eternity special narrating the best Eternity comics. The Grand-Daddy of them all could be Galactus month or something. Galactus is in so many stories that you could even pick the best of the best to Narrate. I know you probably don't have access to all of these comics unless you work in a comic shop or something so I have no idea how you would source all of your material then scan it all in to make a video for us. However you get your source comics please consider doing this as I know that many occasional viewers of your channel like myself would then stick around to watch every single one of your cosmic entity comic narratives!
Usually I flip through your channel along with a couple of other comic narration channels, and if I come across a comic that I am interested in then I stick around to watch it. When it comes to a lot of the new Marvel I don't really watch it to be honest. When it goes cosmic then I definitely always stick around to watch it!

I think that it is because Magic is a force outside of the universe, so if it takes over then it is a force outaide of the universe taking over.

@@revanwitter8501 I think a lot of it stems from the idea of balance itself: I’d actually further his statement and say that he intervenes when any type of ‘multiversal’ imbalance takes place, something that can only happen when magic is involved as it draws from power in places outside of the universe as they know it, and that holds true with him intervening with Adam warlock and the gauntlet too because Adam introduced a second gauntlet into the universe which tipped the balance of power within the multiverse which is why he intervened

So if the right hand is the DC Multiverse and the left hand is the Marvel Multiverse then the Amalgam universe would be the thing that happens when you look at your pointer fingers touching while crossing your eyes. Man, the Amalgam comics where horribly wonderful.

You’re wrong about LT role. His original role was to prevent an imbalance of magical energy. His role evolved later on making him the being that keeps the universe balanced. He didn’t stop Thanos because he judged that Thanos was just replacing the cosmic beings which would maintain the balance. It had nothing to do with the IG not being a magical object

We don’t even know if that is still canon, I would imagine it is not anymore because of the massive amount of contradictions it would cause
The Infinity Being was the first supreme being that killed itself giving rise to the Marvel Universe (and the infinity gems), That universe was the First Firmament that shattered giving rise to the multiveres and the so-called itterations that followed up to the current 7th Cosmos ( Galan was from the 6th Cosmos and was reborn as Galactus into the 7th Cosmos) in the 7th is where Eternity/Infinity are with Galactus and so on... When the remaining sentience of the Infinity Gems reformed itself from the Ego gem it manifested as the being Nemesis (not the original Infinity being as some think).

i thought the living tribunal was killed because the hierarchy of the universe wasnt set yet so he wasnt for sure the most powerful being and once order under stood it he was able to kill him.

Technically the beyonders are just pure omnipotent energy that takes some sort of form. Doom killed the physical form of the beyonders and after secret wars event, the molecule man held all of the beyonder's powers into himself. So technically the beyonders are still alive. However in terms of power the Beyonders > Everything excluding the one above all.

The Tribunal stepped in and prevented Warlock from keeping the Gauntlet, at the beginning of the Infinity Watch series, forcing him to give each gem to one of the Watch and Thanos.

Five Seven i think u r confused about the PF part, Scott became a host of a Phoenix that does the Phoenix job in one universe, the actuall entity is multiversal/omniversal.
It would distroy GED, it is beyond any level a being can reach, beyond time and space. The Phoenix that does the Phoenix work in one universe is a fraction power of the actual Force.
It possess all the power anyone can think of or can possess. It is all powerful, has limitless power etc. It is the most powerful one in the MU second only to TOAA.
I doubt the Phoenix force is stronger than the true living Tribunal (the one that fought the beyonders) Multiversal eterinty or any of the beyonders out there. People seem to high ball things like WPoTC (white phoenix of the crown) because she held one pocket universe in her hands and "healed" that universe means she is a "creator, she is a destroyer a god etc etc" No, it's not the same as the statements the beyonders said about creating everything which holds more weight considering Marvel's omniverse rules do not apply to them as where the Phoenix force is still restricted to the rules of the multiverse. Also when scott as the PF host faced a beyonder powered Doom, Doom murder stomped Scott really hard it was like an ant vs the sun AND TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION. The power God Emperor doom had it was a very very minuscule fraction of the beyonder's power because we learned it was the molecule man who held the vast majority of said power and doom just borrowed from it. Like a battery. That's why The molecule man took away God dooms powers.
Sise Neg did exactly that: absorb all magical energies and The Living Tribunal was nowhere to be seen. I think his remit is a bit broader than just magic.

Half of me: Wow, this is fascinating... The nature of Marvel's cosmology is complex in ways I never imagined. Excellent job, Rob. It's so cool to have all this info condensed and - dare I say it? - explained in a way that even people unfamiliar to this can understand it.
The other half of me: Wow, this art is airbrushed seven ways to death. It doesn't even look like it's meant to be smooth or glowing or ethereal. It just looks bad. My professional artistic aspirations are looking up.

The Living Tribunal said to Eternity in the Infinity Gauntlet storyline he refused to help Eternity because Thanos simply wanted to replace Eternity in the cosmic order - eluding to some cosmic equivalent of survival of the fittest.
That did not stop him from acting against Adam Warlock with Infinity Gauntlet (a fight he said would destroy reality) or Thanos when he used the Heart of the Universe (in which he absorbed the Living Tribunal, Eternity and Infinity without issue) or even the What If Last Planet Standing Galactus or as you mentioned prior the Beyonders. The Living Tribunal is basically a nigh-omnipotent cosmic judge who can challenge anyone with the Infinity Gauntlet (which was able to hold it's own briefly against God Doom) and often acts if it warrants his involvement - often ignoring the shenanigans of his cosmic fellows who are doing what they're intended to (Oblivion/ Chaos King). As for why his new form was killed by Order / Chaos, he tells them prior that the cosmic order is still in flux post Secret Wars, creating an opportunity for them to usurp him, much like Galactus does to them earlier.

I've heard in the past that in the marvel universe time is or should be thought of as a living construct. my question is does time have a physical/artistic form? and if it does, what is the name of this form? Rob, I hate to go against one part of your video but explanation of why The Living Tribunal didn't interfere with Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet because what he was doing was the natural order of those who have power and wanting to conquer. Remember the Tribunal got mad at Warlock for having the power but did not want anything. We find out later that Warlock had separated good and evil from himself in order to use the gauntlet's power with pure logic.

Why is Marvel making everything new? New diverse characters remade that totally suck by flushing the characters that we grew up and loved down the toilet. Now they are remaking the cosmic entities...I mean get back to the basics dammit! Marvel sales are sucking as a result of this stupidity.

Lightwish Light So new readers can't grow up and love characters such as Miles Morales, Kamala Kahn, Sam Alexander etc.? DC got rid of Barry Allen and Wally West became The Flash. Fans grew to love Wally as the Flash. Wally's my Flash, Miles is my Spider-Man, Kamala Kahn is my Ms. Marvel, Carol Danvers is my Captain Marvel. I have grown up and love these characters.

Bro, do you not see that the Celestials that would report to the universe are just the Angels that show themselves to God the Father the creator, and the Celestials that would not show themselves are the fallen angels, and then yes there was a war between the fallen angels and God's good angels. The fallen angels were known as wondering stars. I wish everyone could see that everything is spiritual, and these writers are getting these stories off of truthful things that have already happened in the spiritual realms. If you read the bible and the book of Enoch you will see your story played out there as well. The bible says no one can see God the Fathers face jut as this living tribunal is saying, and the cherubim are a higher group of angels that have four faces that of a man, ox, lion, and the eagle.
I'm not trying to disrespect your faiths, but many of us read comics to escape reality. So we like to keep all the religion and politics out of them. Thus why in marvel there is no proper "God" or "Satan" but there is a One Above All creator type person and so on and so forth. You'll find that all religions share extreme similarities but that delves into topics that again shouldn't be delved into for comics. Just have fun and detach yourself from things like that for a moment and lose yourself in a fake world. Or if you don't want to just go read DC where they have a straight up god and Lucifer.

Uh I hope you guys realize that these are basic-ass abrahamic analogues that are present in the cosmology of most western fantasy works, they are put there because they are convenient and familiar, its nothing mind blowing nor something that you should feel threatened by, these authors are not trying to convert you they are just speaking the language they understand
Also, theres really not that much of a difference between straight up portraying Lucifer or replacing it with a flimsy analogue such as The Beyonder or whatever, thats a fucking silly difference to make, in the end they are still portraying Lucifer in all but name (not to mention an actual straight-up fallen angel Lucifer does exists in Marvel, remember Ghost Rider?)
You can find similar stuff in other media, like how manga/anime is filled with shinto and buddhist concepts

Its crazy, I've been reading the Ultimates 2 since it started and its been like one huge mindtrip. trying to figure everything happening has been like having to reread it another time entirely and using the limited knowledge I know about the cosmic characters and this video has definitely helped figured things out.

I like this type of video man. you make the most difficult subject easy to comprehend. although I would think someone else (Molecule Man, Nevermore, or Love & Hate) should be able to defeat Logos and set the 8th incarnation right again.
