hey man, just ordered one of these, and was already looking at adding batteries. what was it you were adding to the inside of the control panel for the external batteries? you never showed hooking up the external wiring?
I added a tap to the battery terminals and ran it to an external XT60 connector. It gets a bit tricky because there is regenerative braking on the controller, so i couldn't put anything inline with it.
@@magic.marmot so was thinking of just making a plug for the existing battery, pull dead original battery and plug in connector to new sourced battery. as for as i know theres no electric brake, therefore no regenerative braking. as i understand it. oh and not sure you finished your buddies, but if you rotate the batteries around to the back theres plenty of room. might even be able to center them more to get the weight directly over the power tire. thanks
@DrivinghardOregon plug for the existing battery is an excellent idea. It was also my first thought, but we decided to run them all in parallel for more range.
@@magic.marmot yeah thats what im trying to decide. so wiring under the panel is just straight wired to the positive and negative lugs? it seemed like you were putting an isolator or something in there? though i havent riden it yet, but have heard a couple times the complaint about no weight\traction on the front like your buddy said. so had me thinking maybe i should run parallel, like you did, so i can also get the benefit from the weight over the tire also. was also wondering where you sourced the batteries? are they very affordable? id like to stick to decent quality cells. but im on a tight budget. thanks for your help
@DrivinghardOregon We ended up mounting them to the crossbar on the outer sides. I got some clamps for mounting accessory lights to a 4x4 that seemed to work okay, but we really need a better solution. The good part is that when he attaches it to his chair, the batteries are almost directly in line with the drive wheel. Major improvement in handling. I do have some follow-up videos on the mounting and other stuff.
Just wanted to let you know that the firefly you are working on is manufactured in the US the company that makes it is Berkeley California
How do I meet a friend like this? You're awesome
Gosh, thanks. Just trying to make a difference.
