What a beautiful and original idea, Ken! Thank you for putting my gift to such good use!
That annoyed me bit x
Heather, I am so sorry . I had your information with it but it was misplaced in the move. I am so sorry. My memory is not as good as it used to be.
Oh yay! Heather I’m so glad you saw this. Ken looked high and low for your communications. Had your info on the blank forever but it must have come off in our move! I’m so glad you saw and commented. I was afraid it was going to drive him crazy (crazier). 😂
Cracking peace of wood one of my favorites
@@newmooncreations2441 Heh... no harm, no foul. I'm sure he knew that the gifter would come forward after the video was posted.
Instead of the shop towel, put a big rubber band around your chuck jaws. It will hold the piece more secure to the chuck without marring the finish.
Great tip. Thanks.
Sometimes the single color pours are the best looking ones! Great work, Ken. The contrast of the white and purple heart look great together!
Dude, I can't wait for my tri color bowl video. Holy crap!!!! I've never mixed colors like you do in your blanks.
Adjusting your toolrest while the lathe is turning makes weird bleeping sounds? Good to know!
hahahahaha that it does.
Yeah, mine also used to make noises like that 😂.
Solved it by cutting the power first 😂😂
Thats true, I know from personal experience...
You do an AMAZING R2-D2 impression! Thanks for the safety tip.
Bahahhahahahaha, beep beep beep
Good use of resin. White was a good choice to go with the purple heart. Great work!
Thank you!
Fantastic piece. I like the turn it took and the final result
Thank you very much!
Oh man you crack me up. I like that you verbalize your frustration, it makes me feel better. We’re all human right. As for the bowl, what a cool idea.
I appreciate that. I gotta give props to Ahron. He came up with the idea. You can go check him out his link is in the description.
Gorgeous bowl
Thank you very much!
Nice work, Ken. I can see you smiling about your next project already. These are things most people have not even thought about.
I was sweating the next project. The results were....nothing like I thought would happen.
This is a fabulous little bowl!! You are so fun to watch Ken. Keep up the great work! You are inspiring. Cheers, Paige C.
Thanks so much!
We immediately though Hershey kiss at first too! This was such a fun turn!
Same! I live in Hershey so it's something I see every day.
MMMMMMMMMM Hershey Chocolate.
Hell Ya! I think it came out awesome Ken. Great job! Thanks for sharing it with us... V
Thanks 👍
BEAUTIFUL!!! Looks like a Truffle!!
It does!
Wow, another fabulous turn. Looks great!
Thank you. Glad you like it!
That is a classy-looking bowl there, Ken. And that editing at the beginning was pretty cool too. Awesome.
Glad you enjoyed it
WOW AWESOM BOWL.I LOVE IT FROM DOUG
Thanks 👍
Beautiful bowl, nice design ♥️
Many many thanks
Nice video. I like the human error side. It shows that perfection like yours comes at a cost. Fortunately it was a small scar to work around. Good job
Thanks for watching!
That turned out really cool.
Thanks John
Absolutely beautiful.
Thank you very much!
Really cool effect! The bowl turned out beautiful!
Thank you so much 😀
The striped material looked very cool. So cool, that I would have used a saw to cut off the corners, so those scraps could be used in another project.
The shavings were recycled into another bowl.
This is gorgeous 😍. Great idea for that purple heart 💗
Thank you! 😊
Awesome job as always Mr.Ken, that’s cool!! 👍😁
Thanks 👍
Great looking bowl!
Thank you very much!
Great inlay technique. Sure beats the hell out of cutting up precise little slices of wood to laminate.
Yes it does! Thanks.
Nice looking bowl. That came out really cool. Thx for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
I am so glad Doug from Pohl Barn Productions gave you a shout out. Definitely subscribed to your channel.
Thank you. Doug is a pretty good guy. I'll tell him thank you for send you over.
It does look like a Hershey's hug. Absolutely amazing how it turned out 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Thank you.
Looks great! I appreciate the fact that you left the part of the bowl flying off in the video, I know its happened to me more then once lol!
Thanks 👍
Gorgeous! And white chocolate/chocolate kisses are exactly what I'd keep in it!
Oh yes!
Ken,
That turned out really nice! Thank you for not cutting the lid on the opposite angle! Thank you for taking the time to film and post this video!
Very welcome. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
Awesome piece Ken, and when the bowl went for a stroll, I think you were holding back your emotions....just a lil. 🤣
You got that right!
Very nice piece of work.
Thank you very much!
My OCD was jumping up and down over the thickness of the wood and resin lines..especially the 1 resin line in the bowl. Your bowl turned out very nice, I do think the lid rounds it off perfectly.
Hahaha 😂. My OCD is tripping on it too but I couldn’t get the lines to be symmetrical at all. I’m looking forward to mailing it out LOL.
I came to the comments section to see if anyone had posted my very same thoughts.
My brain short circuited when the lines didn't match up and the outer Wood patches were different thicknesses
Having seen it in person, I can tell you that the asymmetry isn't intrusive. It actually makes the bowl look less 'sterile' than it might if all the lines were exactly the same width.
I like it! Great job Ken! - Ed
Thanks 👍
Wow it came out beautiful you can see the illusions as it turns , I think the lid added another dimension , thank you for mention me and my channel , not everybody is doing it ,Cheers Ahron
Thanks so much 😊 for allowing me to do it, Stay safe brother. You do amazing work.
Great project. Love the final effect. I really liked Ahron's too, but I think the matching lid really brings this alive. All the best. Ray. Oh and I'm about to give you a shout out for inspiring me for my next project. So thanks in advance!
Ahron is a fantastic turner and a real good person. I hope he likes this when he watches. I look forward to seeing what you make.
Nice to see you here Ray.
@bsharp55 I don't want to appear to be a poacher of ideas, but Ken has some very cool ideas... just saying 😉
@@RayWhitbyCreations I certainly wouldn't argue with that. Ken and Doug inspired me to try my hand at turning.
Another stunner Ken!! Very nicely done.
Thanks for watching
Gonna file that worm screw technique under “Do as I say, not as I do!” Holy crap dude! 😳
And what’s a millimeter? Around here we use Freedom Units! 😂🤣😂
Great job on Poo’s Honey Pot, looks good! 😎
I’m building a bass guitar out of Purpleheart and Wenge, those two woods are so insanely hard! Dulled every tool I used, every tool I didn’t use and every other tool in a 10 mile radius! 😫
Hahahahaa, it wasn't turning as fast as it looked. 😂 I like it....Freedom Units!!!!
Freedom units sounds like my buddy Garret Mitchell (cleetus's McFarland) lol
Sounds like advice I had gotten from my Dad.
@@Kara_Kay_Eschel if I could go back and pay attention and not do it I would. 🤣😂
yeah I saw that worm screw move and was thinking how easy the corner of that could have left a nasty cut when the screw bottomed out
This is unbelievably gorgeous!
Thank you Savannah
Very creative. Looks cool.
Thank you! 😊
Ken, really nice outcome. Adding the lid really sets it off.
Thanks 👍
Nice bowl
Thank you
Well done mister moonpie it's become a beautiful bowl
Thanks, it's on it's way to the new owner.
It is absolutely stunningly beautiful and magnificent. The colors are awesome.
Thank you so much!
Another great piece of art thank you for all of your videos
Thank you. My pleasure!
very cool project
Thank you.
Great idea for that wood. You more than just salvaged it but enhanced it. Your moment of lapse was a reminder to all of us to slow down and pay attention since it may not just happen to the “other guy”, no one is immune.
I really lost focus and it could have been worse. Luckily only the bowl was harmed.,
Looks amazing, I Love watching your videos thank you.
Thanks for watching!
This is a beautiful piece! What a cool concept to roll with. :D
Thank you very much!
First I really dig this... I wonder if you could use a finger joint jig to make the cuts strait and even.
I think I am going to play around with this concept a bit. I have an idea to make it a bit straighter.
LOVE this! so very cool looking. That wood is just gorgeous.
Beautiful piece! Love that wood color!!!
Thank you!
Looks amazing, well done.
Thank you very much!
Love this little lidded bowl xx
Nice job! Great project!
Thank you!
This is awesome. Nice video 👍
Thank you 👍
awesome Ken!! Ahrons channel is great
It is at that. Thanks JP
VERY creative! I really like it. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.
My pleasure 😊Thanks for watching and commenting.
That looked awesome Ken!!
Thanks 👍
Very nice. Love the concept.
Thank you!
That purple heart topped bowl is the most magnificent tender work of art I've seen. Gosh! Just stunning. Man, yu should market that by the millions! I'm for real. Awsm labor of luv. TY so.
👊😀💯❤
Wow, thank you!
The chip on the bottom, turned out even better with the lid!
Thanks. I just knew it was missing something. It's off to it's new owner now.
Ooooh I love optical illusion art!!!
Awesome.
Nice job!
Thanks for watching and commenting.
What a beautiful bowl, so impressive. Love watching you turn wood.
Thank you so much 😀
that is really nice ,great idea
Thank you! 😊 But I have to give credit for the idea to Ahron. His link is in the description.
I really like your woodturnings...very inspiring. The optical illusion bowl is no exception.
You can really improve the quality of your overall videos by equalizing your audio. The music was a lot louder than your voice, so I had to turn down the music the increase the voice work. Also, when I was producing videos, I would often experience electrical interference, that you had with the loud hum. Usually it was caused by a camera or microphone that was plugged into an electrical outlet on the same circuit as a florescent light. By going to battery power, that hum was eliminated. I don't know you are experiencing the same problem. If not, well, it still needs to be eliminated. Again, I really like to watch you work. It is incredible to see.
Thanks for the info Douglas. I have been experiencing some issues with my camera. The volume on it keep turning way down. I'm not sure how to get the hum out......it's my equipment running in the background. The camera is on a battery also. hmmmm. I'll see what I can do.
Hershey kiss swirls. Very nice
Yes!!!
Dunno how I missed this one. This has gotta be my second favorite thing I've ever seen you make. After the honey pot, but I'm biased for that one. The purple elegance was another one I was really crazy about. The sorta abstract thing that's going on just does it for me, I guess. Maybe I'm just a huge fan of purple heart and I don't know it.
Love it. Even though watching it turn makes me dizzy
That was the optical part of the illusion lol.
Great choice on materials!
Thanks!
We’ve all been there, nice save!
Thanks.
Bleeping nice man
😂😂😂😂
beautiful
Thank you! 😊
Nice recovery Ken. Ken, a tablesaw sled with a modified box joint jig would allow you to make the cuts more symetrical.
And give up on all these awesome comments? No way. 😝
Stunning little bowl. Would love one of these! 🟫◻️🟫◻️🟫◻️🟫◻️🟫◻️🟫
Thank you.
That's Awesome looking . Really liked the purple looking wood ...lol kinda liked the music too ... Waiting on another great video maybe something in a Silver epoxy color . hopefully the weather isn't to bad where your at ...stay safe an warm .
Thanks 👍 Silver? hmmm
The music gets me every time 🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😜
Wow, that is a great piece.
Thank you
Such a mesmerizing intro! It was if you were staring into my soul! Great piece!
Haha, my buddy Adam, will be handling my intros now.
When you know you are going to take it down to round ... why don’t you cut off the corners to make it an octagon? Less tool work, and might end up with some cool pieces to use in other projects.
I normally do. The blade on my bandsaw is fairly dull so I skipped it this time.
When the bowl flew off, I thought it may have broken badly, anyway you evened it out, beautiful save. I Like and Subscribe, thank you for sharing. 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the sub!
The pouring music always tickles me... Love it.
It's always my favorite part.
Awesome!
Thanks!
As usual another great job!
I appreciate that
OOHHH MY GAWD! *ardent fan tainting in utter adoraration* Such a transformation. You ARE a true artist and visionary !
Thank you for such kind words.
Very cool
Thank you.
Nice piece Ken! I'm curious why you chose to use the worm screw instead of the usual faceplate?
My original plan was to have a small mouth to the bowl. Basically make it a hollow form. didn't work out.
Awesome project bud..
Dude alot of your stuff comes out amazing 👏 gives me so many ideas I can on hope to accomplish 🙌
Glad to hear it!
Totally cool. Can't figure out how you knew that cutting those grooves in the wood would end up that was!
My buddy Ahron did a similar one on his channel. You should check it out ua-cam.com/video/gDlSV6FyuTY/v-deo.html
Great recovery.
Thank you.
I'm curious why sometimes you use acks polish restore and sometimes the ob juice? Also this is a sweet piece!
It depends on the look I am going for. If I want a super shiny look I will use OB shine juice. The wood will determine that also Purple Heart is very oily.
Ah cool. Thank you for explaining that!
That's just a very sexy candy jar you made there Ken. I love how the colours work together. Great job and even better vlog again. Have a terrific day and stay healthy💪🏻💜
Thank you. I hope Heather (the new owner ) likes it.
I am partial to segmented pieces, and although this isn't really segmented I love it. I would call it a faux segmented piece. I think it turned out beautifully.
I didn't think of it that way, but maybe you are right. I have a segmented piece coming in a few weeks.
Not having seeing all of your videos I think it would be cool to see you do a simulated opal bowl.
Very cool...stay safe...press on 😎 Joe
