    Instead of the shop towel, put a big rubber band around your chuck jaws. It will hold the piece more secure to the chuck without marring the finish.

    My OCD was jumping up and down over the thickness of the wood and resin lines..especially the 1 resin line in the bowl. Your bowl turned out very nice, I do think the lid rounds it off perfectly.

    • @MoonpieCreations
      @MoonpieCreations  3 роки тому

      My brain short circuited when the lines didn't match up and the outer Wood patches were different thicknesses

    • @strawberrybird
      @strawberrybird 3 роки тому

      Having seen it in person, I can tell you that the asymmetry isn't intrusive. It actually makes the bowl look less 'sterile' than it might if all the lines were exactly the same width.

    I really like your woodturnings...very inspiring. The optical illusion bowl is no exception.
    You can really improve the quality of your overall videos by equalizing your audio. The music was a lot louder than your voice, so I had to turn down the music the increase the voice work. Also, when I was producing videos, I would often experience electrical interference, that you had with the loud hum. Usually it was caused by a camera or microphone that was plugged into an electrical outlet on the same circuit as a florescent light. By going to battery power, that hum was eliminated. I don't know you are experiencing the same problem. If not, well, it still needs to be eliminated. Again, I really like to watch you work. It is incredible to see.

      @MoonpieCreations  3 роки тому

      Thanks for the info Douglas. I have been experiencing some issues with my camera. The volume on it keep turning way down. I'm not sure how to get the hum out......it's my equipment running in the background. The camera is on a battery also. hmmmm. I'll see what I can do.

    Dunno how I missed this one. This has gotta be my second favorite thing I've ever seen you make. After the honey pot, but I'm biased for that one. The purple elegance was another one I was really crazy about. The sorta abstract thing that's going on just does it for me, I guess. Maybe I'm just a huge fan of purple heart and I don't know it.

    Nice piece Ken! I'm curious why you chose to use the worm screw instead of the usual faceplate?

      My original plan was to have a small mouth to the bowl. Basically make it a hollow form. didn't work out.

    I'm curious why sometimes you use acks polish restore and sometimes the ob juice? Also this is a sweet piece!

      It depends on the look I am going for. If I want a super shiny look I will use OB shine juice. The wood will determine that also Purple Heart is very oily.

    I am partial to segmented pieces, and although this isn't really segmented I love it. I would call it a faux segmented piece. I think it turned out beautifully.

      I didn't think of it that way, but maybe you are right. I have a segmented piece coming in a few weeks.

    Not having seeing all of your videos I think it would be cool to see you do a simulated opal bowl.
