      Hey thank you for dropping a comment here. Did you get the wave 3 or one of the bigger ones? I'd be curious how the wave 3 would work in something that big, it does excellent in my van but when it gets 30 below pending on how well your insulated it might have to work a little harder to keep up with that much more space. It's great to meet you and Thank you again for stopping by my channel and welcome to the community! 👍✌

    I'm in my van for a second winter. Last year I used a little buddy. It put out too much moisture & put out sudden heat. You're either super hot or super cold. This year I bought a wav3. What little I've used it so far, I love this little heater. Steady heat that's more like sitting in sticks & bricks with the furnace running. It's a gradual warmth & much less moisture. Its good to hear you say it takes very little propane to run it. I was concerned I'd be using more this winter as this heat runs more than the little buddy did. I can be warm & comfy with my wav3. Well worth the money.

      Good to meet you Natalie, you have defiantly summed up the wave 3 heater completely. This little guy is amazing and the heat that it give off is perfect. I don't really notice any moister build up at all from the heater I think the moisture that I do see is from little Jax and me being in the van. It's great to here your experience and your information really helps other make an informed decision when there looking at purchasing a heating source. Hope you have a safe and wonderful journey and I look forward to talking to ya in the future. 👍✌😊

    PS meant to say my daughters roommates. Also I am a retired HVAC mechanic. Like other small propane heaters they have what we call pistol pilots, a very sharp pilot flame that impinges on the thermocouple. There is a small microfilter a in the base of the pilot that will eventually clog up and the flame will be lazy and not hit the tip of the thermocouple. It is impossible to clean out and you must replace the pilot assembly. They developed these type of pilots to meet the new energy standards as they use a lot less fuel as the old ones. They also have a oxygen depletion device built into the pilot assembly that springs shut if the oxygen level goes too low in the room/van

      The wave heater has been a rock star. I've been using it for almost 4 years and it still operates like brand new. I've looked at the desiel heaters but the wave uses hardly any propane the operating cost are just so minimal compared to anything else. A long story to just say great choice, lol take care and if you get a chance after you get one drop back by an and let me know your opinion. 🐾✌

      Awesome to meet you Kevin! Thank you for leaving a comment. The wave 3 has been a rock solid piece of equipment. I've considered one of those desiel heaters but you just can't beat the wave. It cost so little to run this heater plus it doesn't using any electricity which is a big consideration given when you typically use the heater there are a lot less day light hours to collect solar. Going into 5 years with this heater you just can't beat it. Take care and stop back sometime and let me know what you decided on.🐾✌

      It's great to meet you Claude! Thank You for taking your time to leave a comment. I've been researching some of the other heaters that are out there especially the diesel heaters. For a heat source in a van I personally couldn't find anything out there better then the wave heater it's just plain simple and easy to use and does the job. If someone has a larger space to heat or the know how to install, the diesel heaters are looking like a good option, there just a lot more work to install. Thank You for your support and Good Luck on your journey and enjoy the heat put out from this little beast! 👍✌

    So glad to have come across this review. I have been struggling with the decision to put in a small wood stove or go with with a Wave heater and you just helped me decide. I live in BC Canada and am going to live in my Motor Home, full time, and will need a reliable source of heat next winter. The Wave seems to be the best way to go, for sure. A small wood stove would need almost constant monitoring and putting a large hole in the roof for the flue seems like more care and maintenance. My Motor Home is 24', but after I block off the front driving area, I will need to heat 17'. Do you think I should put in a Wave 6, or will a Wave 3 be enough?? I also see you have a very beautiful dog, I have 4 little dogs lol, and I am thinking of mounting the heater on an articulating TV arm, up off the floor, so the dogs will be safe. What do you think?

    • @LifeForceUnleashed
      @LifeForceUnleashed  4 роки тому +3

      Well hello again, lol Wow it sounds like you have an awesome adventure ahead of you. To get straight to your question with that much space I certainly would go with the wave 6 but to be honest with you with that much space if you have the ability or someone that can help you I think I would go with one of those Chinese diesel heaters on amazon, they are more affordable and I think maybe more efficient for the area you will be heating. Although what appear to be the hard part is it's a little more complicated to install that being said if you don't wish to go that way the wave 6 will do a fantastic job as well. If I had a larger area I personally would probably go with the desiel heater although it looks a lot more complicated then the easy of use with the wave heater. And by the way that is an absolutely excellent idea to attach it to one of those tv articulating arms. For me personally with the size of my van which is around 70 square feet the wave 3 puts out more than enough heat. I've tried finding something that would do a better job that I could let everyone know about but there really isn't at least for a van. As far as putting in one of those mini wood stoves, as much as I really like the heat from that source, in talking to others who have installed them there seems to be a lot of draw back because of how small they are and of course they add an extra level of possible danger. I know it must seem like I'm rambling at this point but I hope I have helped in some way if you have anymore questions please don't hesitate to ask I certainly will try to help as much as possible. Do you have or plan to start a UA-cam channel to share your adventures? I would love to see your 4 little companions they sound absolutely awesome. I personally couldn't even think of doing this without my little side kick he is an amazing companion. Thank You for engaging and bring up questions and ideas that I'm sure others will find helpful! Once again is great to meet you and I hope you have a wonderful day!🐾👍✌

    • @LifeForceUnleashed
      @LifeForceUnleashed  3 роки тому +2

      Hey skokomurliak, you certainly asked a great question! First of all I can't answer yah or nay because I won't take liability sorry not rich enough for that, lol especially since I don't know your setup that being said the wave heater is made to be used indoors and I believe camco has that listed on there packaging. I use mine all the time and pending how cold it was there were oh so many times all night long. I do have a carbon monoxide detector mounted right by head for safety but it hasn't even detected anything at all using the heater, as it has a digital read out to show how many ppm are in the air For my setup. last winter it was so cold and I believe I only opened up my vent just a handful of times. The heater seems to be super safe. If it's at your price point and for the easy of installation go for it and just monitor your space you put it in. I will be making a video addressing everything about this heater. If you are in a very cold climate this heater works fantastic but I did come across something in using it that I didn't realize what was happening till I had a problem. I never felt like there was even a moisture issue using this heater as my van is well insulated it was just a excellent radiant heat that never failed. If your going to put it in a van the one place I never thought about was up under the dash and the fire wall those areas can't be insulated and direct cold from outside and the warm air inside caused that area to build up a lot of moisture and well I had a flasher relay go out and thats when I noticed what it was doing. When I changed out my blinker relay it was full of water and then I notices places that started to rust because of the moisture. Its a great heater and very safe and easy to install but if you can takle the install of a diesel heater I would do that. When I get down south this year I'm going to replace mine with one although I haven't figured out how to fit it in just yet. I hope this helped you out someway. Well I've seemed to have responded with a book sorry about that. But straight forward the wave heater is very safe to use just follow camcos instruction. Take care and welcome to this little community! if you have anymore questions, please don't hesitate to leave a comment and I'll get back to ya.👍✌

    I can keep my 1250 sq ft house 70 to 75 degrees when it's 30 to 40 degrees outside with a buddy heater on low 5k btu. Will keep the house comfortable when it gets down to about 20 still on low. Been wanting a wave 3 or 6 to add a little more range. Would love to have a 3 to add a little heat in the house and use for camping.
    Actually ordered a wave 8 on ebay yesterday for $90 shipped but not holding my breath on it showing up.

    • @LifeForceUnleashed
      @LifeForceUnleashed  4 роки тому +2

      Hey D, Great to hear from you. I will try to answer your question as best as possible. In theory the wave 3 might preform ok given what you have explained, I don't know any of your other factors like how cold it is where you are and how well insulated your RV is. That being said I live in South Dakota and the winter temps range from 30 below at worst but usually in the single digits my van has around 70 square feet that needs to be heated The wave 3 is rated for up to130 sq feet and the wave 6 is rated for up to 200 sq feet. I personally have never had a problem with the wave 3 keeping me very comfy and cozy . Be aware that right in front of the wave heater you have to have the recommended cleared space because this little guy gets really hot. I think unless someone in the community has more to add to this comment you will probably be fine but considering we all get cabin fever sooner or later you might wish for more space to be opened up. @@popatop75 Hey D, You are so welcome if you have any questions at all please don't hesitate to ask most of this is certainly on a learning curve. OK first I'll answer your questions: #1 yes you can move the heater around when it's operating although you may need gloves,lol the heater does have a shut off protection if it gets tipped or bumped hard it will shut off. #2 you do not need a fuel filter for this heater I believe that just applies to the Mr. buddy heater which I don't recommend one of those. As far as the hose length I personal went with the longer hose, 3 ft just didn't seem like it would have been enough room to move the heater around and provide the flexibility needed - and it wouldn't have been-. You probably already know this information but just to put it out there the wave 3 heats approximately 100 sq feet of space and the wave 6 will heat up to 230 sq feet. The wave heater is an extremely easy and safe heat source very easy to setup and use. Good Luck on you journey and please keep in touch!😊✌

      Great question, with the heater you get a paper pattern that you can place on the wall or piece of plywood that has the screw placement on it. You just line the paper up on what ever surface you are going to mount your heater to and make the marks for the screws, then put your screws in and the heater has holes in the back of it that line up with the screw pattern then you just adjust the screws till you have a tight and secure fit. Great to meet you Outa ThisWorld! That's a good question. The simple answer is no. The buddy heater causes a tremendous amount of moisture in a closed area. The wave does a little but nothing like the buddy heater, you'll probably never notice it. Another thing that's different between the 2 is you will notice the heat from the buddy heater in a closed environment starts to feel wet and uncomfortable where as the wave continuously puts out nice warm radiant heat. Good to meet you Marcus! I've used mine at 8700 in Colorado and had no problems with it running although what I did notice is in a smaller space like my van its important to crack open a window or vent else just make sure you open the door up once in awhile To let in some oxygen. The wave 3 is suppose to have a low oxygen sensor. This is what I experienced at higher elevations the heater was running and work great then I turned it off because I was going to cook and the heat from the stove would have been sufficient. When I went to use the self igniter to light the stove, the stove wouldn't light I thought that was weird cause that never happened before so I got out a lighter to light the stove and the flame acted really strange I tried lighting the stove and it wouldn't light then I tried to relight the wave heater and it wouldn't ignite I was like what in the heck is going on and then I remembered how the lighter acted strange and I had one of those moments, yep not cool! I opened the door letting fresh air in for a bit and poof everything worked perfect again so I learned in higher elevations with the oxygen being lighter you need to have a fresh air source. It only did this at higher elevations at 7000ft I had no problems at all it seems like 8000 and up I ran into this but now that I know this I haven't had any problems since. Sorry I know this was a long explanation but I like to try and explain any problems I've had throughly. Biggest question do I trust the heater, Yes, after using it for 3 years and using it in many different environments like anything else you learn it.. I just purchased one and its giving off a pretty bad propane smell maybe even 20 minutes after turning it on, and it sets off my combustible gas detector. I'm wondering if its maybe defective. i've sprayed the connections as well with soap and water and they doesn't show signs of leaking. anyone else experiencing this? thanks

      It's awesome to meet you noahrisser, you might get a very light smell when you first light it. I guess I've been using it so long that I don't even notice anymore but what your describing does not sound ok. I use mine all the time and over night and never smell it and it never registers on my carbon monoxide detector or propane gas sniffer. To answer your question, is it suppose to be odorless, it is, except sometimes on first ignition. If yours is setting off your gas detector then for sure something is very very wrong. I'm sure you have done everything to evaluate your system ie checking connections for leaks, checking hoses for leaks and sometimes even the connection to your propane tank itself the threading on the tank can be a problem. When the wave heater is operating the red glow in the heater mat will look like a wave form, meaning the red glow on one side will be about 1 to 2 inches high then in the middle it will be glowing about 40% of the mat then dip back down on the other side to the 1 or 2 inches. Have you mixed a solution of dish soap and water and sprayed it on your connection. If there's a leak it will blow bubbles. If you have no leaks then there is certainly something defective with the product. Thank you for reaching out and please let me know your results and what the problem was. Stay safe and if I can help in any way please let me know. Thank you for reaching out with this issue as I'm sure it can probably help others if there experiencing anything similar. people now say the buddy heater is the same as the wave 3 in how it works. also i google it and benzene is a by product of wave 3 . so do i get chemicals emitting in my cabin with the wave 3???

    • @LifeForceUnleashed
      @LifeForceUnleashed  3 роки тому +2

      Wow I never new staying warm could be so complicated, lol Seriously I did some pretty extensive research on this and the best I could come up with is benzene is everywhere, I mean, did you know that your suppose to roll down your vehicle windows immediately when you get in and not doing so is harmful to your health because of the benzene build up emitting from your dash and other equipment. I'll leave a link that may or may not help. What I did find is that propane/ natural gas in its natural state does contain benzene but wait so does the air we're breathing due to all the gas and chemical emissions including smoking and second hand smoke.. I did find that When you burn propane benzene is destroyed and benzene is heavier than air so it sinks to its lowest point if propane leaks out some how. I am in no way making light of this because its all very serious. Unfortunately being alive and living in society today we are all being exposed to things we shouldn't be. If you read the science behind all this, benzene has identifiers one being a sweet or petroleum smell, Like when you smell exhust fumes or that new car smell. My experience using the wave 3 is I smell absolutely nothing when its operating and I'm pretty sensitive to smells. If I for 1 minute felt that this was a truthful fact I would rip it out and throw it out immediately but I could not find anything connected to burning propane and benzene exposure other than inhaling it in its natural state before its burned. As far as it being like the buddy heater, nope its not. The buddy heater emits a lot more moisture then the wave heater and if you felt the difference between the 2, one heat feels wet and sticky and personally I feel that used in an enclosed area one might choose to not run it at all because of how uncomfortable the heat is. Where as with the wave heater the heat is a lot more comfortable. Any propane appliances will create moisture some not as much as others. I appreciate and understand your concerns, unfortunately whether your sitting by a campfire to stay warm and inhale a bunch of smoke or your using a desiel heater and smell the desiel gas which has been found that the particulates in desiel cause problems. One might focus on just staying warm because everything else comes with inherent risk. I know you are concerned as well as I was with what I built my van with I wanted as little as possible anything that would off gas and anything that did I left outside for a couple of months to eliminate as much of that as possible. When you install yours you will be able to decern for yourself if you like it or not and if you don't you can always send it back but I have know idea what to suggest as a replacement that doesn't come with some risk. Take care and that was a great point to bring up it surly made me do a lot of research!🐾👍✌ www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/causes-prevention/risk/substances/benzene

      Hi yogi yogi, you know the important thing is your happy with what ever choice you make. The 1 pound green tanks only hold about 16 Oz of propane and that isn't very much no matter what your running off of it. For me I use a 20 lb tank and cook 2 meals a day and use the heater at night the last time I put propane in the tank was 2 1/2 months ago and just did it again yesterday. In 2 1/2 months my tank wasn't empty and only took 3 1/2 gallons to fill it. With the cost of propane here 3 1/2 gallons costed me 9 dollars to refill what I used, in my opinion that just can't be beat short of a candle and a flower pot which would still cost you more over that period of time. I have the ability to put anyone of the many choices for heating out there in my van but in my opinion there isn't a more economical choice then the wave heater. If you have any questions done hesitate to ask and if you decided to go with something other than the wave could you stop back by and let me know what you went with and how it's working out! @LifeForceUnleashed  3 роки тому +2

      Hey Angkit, great question. Propane construction is really easy and pretty straight forward. If you'd like I'll put a propane installation video in the line up. Otherwise with the wave heaters they have a regulated line that attaches to the wave 3 and you can choose to hook it upto a green bottle or like I have mine connected directly to a 20lbs propane tank. As far as needing a dehumidifier i personal don't believe it would make a difference that being said the first winter i used mine i didn't insulate up above the cab and that moisture did find its way to the bare metal that was exposed above the cab and let me tell you that became a moisture collection point reason being the it wasn't protected from the cold Temps. The heater works extremely well just make sure you have all the ceiling insulated and you won't find yourself having a problem. To me it dose not seem like it puts out a lot of moisture and that was the only problem I had the first year. After insulating the cab I have never had a problem since. I personally love this heater and don't see me changing it any time soon. If I do it will be to a desiel heater and the one real problem with that kind of heater is making sure you have a proper battery system to run it. I hope this helped at least a little and if you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask. @LifeForceUnleashed  3 роки тому +2

      You know that is certainly a very valid concern I will be putting out another video address all aspects and concerns surrounding the use of this heater a little bit later in the season. As far as monoxide goes all I can suggest is reading what the manufacturer suggest. For me I've used mine for the last 3 winters and last years was the coldest. I have a monoxide alarm that shows me the ppm and in my usage it has never register anything at all, even all closed up, meaning no window or vent open. Now I'm not recommending anything but that has just been my luck in the use of the wave heater. Really the only way to get comfortable about your concerns is if you get one also get a detector and monitor it so you know first hand. The wave heaters are a catalytic heater and are ment to be used indoors where as some of the others one are not recommended with out having really good ventilation. I know this probably doesn't settle any of your concerns and that's OK because that way of thinking always keeps you a little safer. Good luck and keep me posted with your choice and how it's working out for you. Take care👍✌

    and this only heats 130 sq ft. and it's almost 3 x expensive!!!!

    • @LifeForceUnleashed
      @LifeForceUnleashed  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Judi nice to meet you! Very good question! You've heard the old saying you get what you pay for, well in this case it's so true. The heat put out from the heater buddy is in my opinion a very uncomfortable heat. For vanlife it's just to wet way to much moisture. Using it will cause anything metal to start rusting especially behind the dashboard and if it's cold out the heat it puts off is very wet and uncomfortable. Those heaters do have a place like camping in a tent for a night or ice fishing shack just some examples. Also they seem to develop a lot problems if used as a daily heater. There meant to be a back up heat source should everything else fail. There are a lot of draw backs, to many to go into here that make the heater buddy just not ideal at all. I'll try to make a video covering all difference between the 2. I know the wave is more expensive I've been using mine for 4 going on 5 years and it still runs like brand new. The wave hardly uses any propane where as the buddy will make up the price difference in short order in its use of propane and filter clogging and replacements. I guess for me the wave just works there's no moving parts to breakdown and the cost to run it is super cheep compared to any of the other heaters. What you will be installing a heater in and what kind of climate during the winter months will you be mostly in. If you could tell me Those 2 pieces of information I can give you a more informed thought. Take care and thank you for leaving a very important comment/thought. 👍🐾✌

      Hey yogi, I really do enjoy being able to help when someone has a question and I believe I've answered these questions as best as I can. I've been using mine for 3 years and I'm still here. The heater is perfectly safe if used properly and follow the manufacturer instructions. Your concern is honest but even using an electric heater the wrong way could result in that. Might I suggest you reach out to camco or reference there online manual and see if that resolves your concerns. Take care and stay safe.✌

      Hey yogi, its great to meet you! Thats a very good question and yes it is. The actual name is camco Olympian wave heater. Just an FYI I just released a video letting everyone know that I am going to be putting up a video covering all the good bad and what to Consider when looking at these heaters. I've been using mine for 3 years now and its a really good heater with simple install if your going to install it in a van the one thing I never considered until I had a problem which was up behind the dash there's no way to protect that area where the cold and heat meet at the fire wall and thats where condensation will form. I didn't realize this until my blinker and hazards stopped working and when I replaced the electronic flasher it was full of water and then I noticed the rust that had started back there. So my advice is if your in a van and going to be in colder climates during the winter this heater works great but if you can swing it install a diesel heater. Thank you for leaving a comment and support! Take care👍✌

      @@LifeForceUnleashed what i have is a outbound tear drop sit in camper only 4 feet tall inside. 5 x 8. I've concluded that the wave 3 might be best for me. lets face it a lot of the year you don't need a heater at all and the wave 3 can be removed. it has no fumes inside cabin . and if you get the adaptor to refill the tiny green propane bottles your self. the fuel cost will be low. but now u suggest to me diesel heater? that means fumes. that means smelly deisel fuel. i have to mess with and what about reliability.? my tiny camper I'm guessing will be a breeze to heat. now you say go diesel?

    • @LifeForceUnleashed
      @LifeForceUnleashed  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Yogi, i didn't mean to confuse you if you have a tear drop the wave 3 will be the perfect solution. I only mentioned the diesel heater as an option if you are going to be in colder climate and in a van because of the condensation that will form behind the dash. I still have and use my wave 3 and like everything about it but I'm down south where its much warmer and I can open up my van and air it out daily. You would be very happy with the wave 3 in your setup. I've never had any problems with the wave 3 heater except for the condensation build up behind the dash and being in a really cold place during the winter months. I hope this help clarify things a little better and if not I'd be happy to elaborate more if you would like. Take care and keep me posted as to what you decided. Being able to have further discussion here in the forum allows me and others to expand the knowledge base about this product. 👍✌

      @@LifeForceUnleashed condensation behind the dash? u are saying that wave 3 has condensation or the diesel heater? bottom line is that i only need to crack a window for the wave 3 because the wave 3 uses oxygen and the cracked window is do maintain oxygen levels in the heated area . the amount of cracking the window needs is very tiny. just enuf to maintain oxygen in area?

      @@LifeForceUnleashed Normally it would be OK as your energy is infectious. I am tricking out a Doge Pro Master City for my daughter who is a wandering soul with the nervous feet that was never meant for a steady beat. I recently ( 4 months ago) incurred a herniated disc that is pressing on a nerve in my lower back, so I have to get up three or four times a night too apply an ice pack and sit up for awhile So I peruse the van build videos. Just got finished installing the little Max Dome fan and started the insulation process. She likes Colorado and upstate New York so I started looking at heaters. So I was half asleep and started watching your excellent take on the description of the Wave 3. Now it's 6: 30 here in Delaware and I am the one with my first cup of Joe with a shot of Rum-Chata . Boulder is where I learned about Vegans. I took some of my daughters out to dinner and they were ordering mostly Vegan, towards the end of the meal two of them excused themselves and went outside. I asked my daughter where they were going, she said they had to go out and catch a smoke????

    I don't understand the misleading thumbnail with the X and the diagonal line across the product picture. This would lead one to think that you didn't approve of this product.
    Apparently these misleading thumbnails are a necessary evil when trying to entice people to click on their videos. This is a sad state of affairs when you are intentionally misleading viewers for your own gain.
    Well, I did not subscribe because I do not subscribe to this practice. I use UA-cam to learn and research and more times than not, people are posting manipulative deceptive commercial content. I could understand this if you were getting bookoo-bucks but for the life of me I will never understand why you wouldn't be more forthcoming instead of deceiving.
