    CRC 05351 but pricey for the volume. Everyone does gears differently i think. Sprial/hypoid gears lash is rotational. I set them pretty tight, crawler sees no real material growth from heat. Plus under extreme load, and high torque plastic will flex a tiny bit pushing ring away from pinion. Full depth pinion tooth engagement, zero side to side movement on carrier (no preload on bearings), tiniest perceived rotational lash. Spin pinion, no noise or tough spots good to go.

    Baseline had a good visit to the dentist. Almost exactly what I had to do mine when I stripped the ring gear on my Ecto. I used SSD aluminum C-hubs. I recently had to figure out how to get the tie rod in front of the axle. I'll send you some pics.

    I bought a truck Wednesday, he's built from spare parts. My dad dubbed him parts bin, he's a 10.2 with rock pirates shock towers a VP trans and SSD pro44 axles, although I need to get a new rear one luckily I had a spare ar44 for the time being, that being said if this chassis I found is still available next paycheck I'll be building a bullet proof 10.2 with mostly Amazon parts, all thanks to the canyon. Oh and parts bin has the black case 60kg servo from flash hobby and I got 4 Amazon batteries (I have 2 more on order and a bunch of parts, and bead locks for said other 10.2 or this one) I'm planning on getting the timten dual stages at some point soon also. Thanks for making great content and inspiring my addiction to tiny trucks 😂

    I think this was a really good video. I can’t believe in my circle of RC crawlers how many people don’t even shim their axles. But they are the guys that always blow a differential.

    *my thoughts only 23 minutes in* my god it's just like a real car, time to bust out the dial indicator and gear paint. You gained a sub 👍. Good on ya for trying out the moly cv grease, when I got into the axles and transmission in my first RC, a trx4m, I was bummed out that I only had silicone grease at home when I have a grease gun full of moly at work. I was surprised to find the silicone grease actually coats everything evenly after running it though. As @mfnJOSH mentioned below, I also think gun blue or cold blue would be possibly useful for gear mesh. One would have to put a load on the gears to really see the mesh pattern I suppose.

    As I have just brought a second hand ecto I will be having a look to see if theres any movement in my gears. Thanks for the video.

    Being the Meister of minutiae, I would love to see you put Prussian Blue on those gear teeth and check the actual mesh like a real differential.🧐

    Sometimes when a item takes a bit ..no just small amount of abuse and brakes down now and then...Then there are others that take a little less than others...of course failure... Great upgrade ..I am going back through my rigs and see whats up.. Great tips thanks...

    First time I’ve ever seen a gear tooth kinda fold over instead of just snapping off. 😎😎😎

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  11 місяців тому +2

      Same. In the OE parts, the ring is definitely made of tougher stuff than the pinion.

      @mfnJOSH 11 місяців тому +1

      Likely a hobbed pinion, but not hardened. Just regular low or medium carbon steel.

    Thanks buddy great video. Red n tacky with lucas oil stabilizer is amazing. I'm just saying, "Please give it a shot.. everyone asks how my chopra is so quiet!! You'll thank me, or I at least wonder your opinion. Thanks for what you do brother 💯 doesn't take much. Just start with a little and just add more as needed 👊

      Hey, I'll try any grease at least once. I'm really happy with how the CV joint grease is doing. Aside from the initial stinkiness.

    • @letsgetitrc
      @letsgetitrc 11 місяців тому +1

      @CrawlerCanyon remember in the auto part stores years ago, they had the little gear mechanism showing how lucas oil stabilizer makes the oil stick to the gears.? Same concept. I've always been a car guy and just thought it would be great for rc. I've been using this combo for years now. Thanks for the reply 👍

    Ring and pinion backlash on a 1:1 is usually 6-10 thousandths. Do ya ‘spose it’s 1/10 of that for the Element? Did you mic it?

    What kind of electric drill/driver are you using? I just put together a Phoenix kit using regular hand hex drivers and have decided to never do that again 🙃

      I'm using the Bosch PS31, which is the 12V non-brushless version-- amzn.to/3DnZc1d The brushless model is just WAY too powerful. The PS31 is a bit overpowered for our application as well, but it is a genuinely solid driver, and you can of course use it for other stuff, where hobby-oriented "stick" drivers are usually only good for that.

    Been playing D4 in the evenings with my old high school buddy. We both feel like the game is optimized for party play. Solo play starts to feel like a slog and a bit boring. And solo neither of us like to go into dungeons because we've both run into the random butcher here and there. 😬 He found a clan for us mature folks so we joined up lol. Haven't really done a lot of partying with them yet but I'm sure that'll be cool when we level high enough to do the seasonal helltides or nightmare dungeons

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  11 місяців тому

      I'm a grinder from WAY back, so rolling 95% solo, I'm Lvl.66 and just breezing World Tier III. Unlike most every other "gather your equipment for a character build" game I"ve played before, I've had something remarkably similar to good luck in D4-- I actually have decent gear pieces, and have managed to actually end up with a character that does decent DPS and still manages to not just die every five minutes. I'll keep my eye out for you. I'm only maybe 60% of the way through the quests/challenges in base game, so I have no motivation to rush out and buy the season pass.

    • @Andy_Yates
      @Andy_Yates 11 місяців тому

      @@CrawlerCanyon If you're thinking of starting a new character, seasonal is the way to go. You can skip the campaign and you only need the battle pass for some of the rewards. All the alters you have found will transfer over and the map will be as revealed as it is for your most traveled character. You also keep the horse. Hit me up if you ever feel like partying. Our eternal realm characters are level 60 to 65 running in tier 3 even though we've been focused on trying other classes in the new season
