Excellent discussion. Perhaps a similar dialogue with Robert Fisk would be helpful, I would be interested to compare the two veteran correspondents' views on these matters.

I have no idea who this guy is but he should be on every mainstream media channel to stop the chronic verbal diarrhoea. And i believe they fully knew that there would be a power vacuum one Gaddafi was removed viciously removed. Could listen to him all day.

Fuck mainstream media! It's fodder for the sheeple. Are you also part of the sheeple? Then stop watching mainstream garbage media and do your own research! You have no excuses in the age of information and computers!

All 'mainstream' media does is pump out propaganda to suit their own agenda. Especially regarding what western countries do in Africa and the middle east. Al Qaddafi being a good example of someone being defamed on Western media with lies and wholesale propaganda. When they conceal the fact that he a fair deal for Africa through a gold standard 'Gold dinar', as a regional currency instead of the US $.

I generally rally like this show and I think its super-informative but I think you missed a big opportunity to talk about the Rojava revolution. Though I agree with you that the situation is depressing the Rojavan kurds offer a left-wing alternative the likes of which we have not seen since the spanish civil war. There are even international fighters that have come from socialist political parties all over the world in order to support the resistance in Rojava. There has been especially notable participation from Turkish communist groups that put up the red flag and the flag of the spanish republic next to the flag of Rojava and the YPG. www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/oct/08/why-world-ignoring-revolutionary-kurds-syria-isis

+steven durrant I have spend 30 min to listen the very same narrative that spouted by the mainstream media in daily basis ! Since the start of the Arab Springs to Syrian crisis Tariq Ali couldn`t make up his mind. His and his cronies like this gentlemens analysises were always precarious, wrong and short sited and most people are avare of this fact. IMO Michael Chossudowsky`s website GlobalResearch,Webster Tarpley,Geraoid O`Colmain etc are more accurate, most detailed sources for information on current Global issues!

The global rulling class needs wars and "revolutions" (be it red, white, arab, kurdish, yellow, orange, ukranian etc.) to survive. The global rulling class needs terror to survive, they have to terrorize people all over the world, those living in the centre of the empire too. Eveyone should live in a state of fear and terror, this is how u force concent and obedience. What people don't understand is that empire represent a state of order for the people in the center, and that
only those in control of capital (that is those in control of food, electricity, SURVIVAL writ large) who can afford fabricating and maintaining revolutions. Ordinary people can neither afford nor maintain revolutions/decent/rebillion.
