Love that Indie identity Latvia has! I wonder if Kobra could pull off the same magic that Vēstulēs did last year! I'm excited for this national final, a super strong year for Latvia! 💖
By the way there are so many artists in this years Supernova who have been on Latvia's Xfactor recently.First of all,as you said Grēta(won in 2021),but also Palu was in 2021 but then the interesting part is how 4 of the Top 5 of the Latvian Xfactor in 2023 are in Supernova 2025 semifinal. Because Emilija won last year,Luka was second and then the most ironic part is that the girl from KoBra placed third being a solo singer and the guy from KoBra placed 5th also being a solo singer. So basically they met at the Latvian Xfactor and decided to make a duet and to make music, release songs together as a duet.😃
As one of 4 people that watched Supernova instead of Melfest, UMK or Sanremo last year, I’m sooo happy with how this year's edition turned out I always loved Latvia's and especially Supernova's Indie identity as you said, but this year they added so much to that. The quality and variety are way higher than usual, which elevates it from just my personal nf treasure to an overall popular nf in the fandom. I think this whole lineup that we have here is the optimal outcome of talented artists, talented people behind the scenes, Sudden Lights' (and Vēstulēs's) popular Indie acts and the motivation that came from Dons' qualification last year. About the songs, Sadzejot is my favorite (it’s literal magic), Zelts a very close second (if you couldn’t guess, kur? was my favorite last year xD). I would really love for Latvia to finally send a song in this super unique indie style and ofc fully Latvian (I hadn’t thought about the Lithuania connection, but that’s so true, and Estonia sent something Estonian last year to, so hopefully we’ll see a full revival of Baltic languages). We were so close last year, but unfortunately I think it won’t happen this year either (with this unique Indie style, not the Latvian, that’s very likely imo). Zelts and Sadzejot are gonna suck points from each other like crazy and unless one of them has a flop staging, I don’t see any of them getting eliminated in the semi, so I see neither of them winning. The entry I do think will win is Līgo, it’s very popular already, extremely catchy and not too similar to the other folksy songs Citi Zeni I don’t see winning tbh, I don’t think Latvia ever sent a returning artist, even tho several tried. And one of the top comments under the snippet video released by the Supernova channel also said (in Latvian): "Do Citi Zeni think no one will notice their resemblance to Baby Lasagna", I don’t think that’s fair to them, but it could be tiiiny indicator for their reception, although there are ofc also a lot of supporters Also, I always love these type of videos :)
For me Kobra is the obvious winner with Zelts, if staged right it can def get Latvia in the top 15 even top 10. Its the perfect latvian entry, indie, with beautiful arangments and fantastic vocals and its also in latvian??? 10/10 for me
Awesome to see KoBra is your current favorite, its my joint favourite along with The Ludvig! I also like Justs and Emilija. Great vids for a great supernova by the way Tom 👏🏻
Thoughts on Supernova 2025: Yeah the lineup is so much better than 2024 (and I love Supernova 2024). Great balance of genres (indie, bops, folk) and artists (big names, returnees, newcomers). Also, smart move from LTV to release the songs early, now that the fandom would give more attention to the Latvian NF before other countries release their entries. Some of my favorites are (in random order):- - Bel Tempo x Legzdina (not for eurovision I guess but I just find it really soothing for my brain haha) - The Ludvig (Pagan party owh yeahh, but seriously I have no idea how is this going to be staged) - Greta (great girlbop) - KoBra (best vocals and harmonies imo) - Tepat (kinda disagree with you on the saxophone part I thought that was lovely). I do like songs from Julianna, Chris Noah and Adelina too. I'm assuming there are more songs in Latvian this time around all thanks to Vestules last year. "kur?" was so well received by the public and the esc fandom, proving how songs in your own native language can appeal to international fans.
I think Delusional is underrated, it isn't the best song up there in its current form, but it has the most potential to be a real wow factor after an upgrade.
Frankly, any of the songs in Latvian going to ESC would be a good outcome. Not even because of language representation, but because they all have their own identity and will stand out during the competition. Personally, I'm rooting for Tautumeitas though. Amongst songs in English, "Bound by the Light" is a clear favourite of mine. The rest are quite generic which wouldn't have been that big of a disadvantage if the selection wasn't that good. I'll admit though that I'm a sucker for 90s-era ESC bardcore. "The Voice" was a great winner and "Nocturne" is my favourite ESC song of all time.
Tom last year: "What sticks out to me is a lot of young talent. I'm excited for the future." Tom now: "And then we've got the final on 8th of February which I'll definately be watching 'cause I'm very excited for that. To see, what they are gonna pick." The future came quite quickly :)
Once again we tend to agree. I also have, at the moment, Kobra in first and Sinergija in second place. It all depends on how they sound live. The other songs I find more or less pretty, nice to listen to but perhaps not groundbreaking.
Hey Tom, little suggestion for ya: I notice that the ESC Scoreboard community ranking you showed differs quite a lot from the one I usually check to get a feeling of what the community wants to win, being the one on ESC Discord. While ESC Scoreboard has a huge bias for pop girlies, ESC Discord members seem to be more into the more authentic stuff. Could be worth comparing with that as well!
haha great minds think alike. i am literally on the discord server as we speak checking out their rankings because of another comment's suggestion. Yes, ill start including them in my future videos 🙏🏻
And again, we can see that our Music Styles are similar. To explain, this one is the last analysis I'm watching after Eesti Laul, Festivali i Këngës and Montesong. So yeah, you like Isak, I like Isak, you like Tommy Cash and Räpina Jack, I love Tommy Cash and Räpina Jack, you like Ardit Çuni, and I like him too. And now, we both got Markus Riva in Top 5, which is my favourite so far for Supernova
i didn't follow last years nf too closely and im embarrassed to say that until recently i thought that kobra was vēstulēs and was confused why no one was talking about them being a returning act...
My favorites are: 1. Bound by the Light 2. Bur Man Laimi 3. Monster 3 other songs I like a lot: 4. Zelts 5. Something in the Water 6. Subzejot It’s a great song fest, I’m very impressed! The only song I absolutely can’t stand is Ramtai, which means it will probably win. 😅
So many songs that could do very well!! I think any of the following songs could do very well Bur Man Laimi Līgo Zelts Monster Ramtai Bound By The Light
I love Līgo from Ludvig, if he has strong staging, that really has a chance. I also love the two songs in Latvian, but unfortunately, its not eurovsion material
I generally agree on a lot of things. I don't however think Justs' song isn't as disjointed as you said in your reaction. I also really like The Ludvig's song so I'm more in line with the fandom it seems. Also I think Greta and Emilija are quite overrated. I do like Monster but I think it pales in comparison to the more adventurerous or indie acts like Sinergija, Julianna and KoBra. And for Heartbeat: Maybe it's just me but I find the "heartBEEAAT" bit in the chorus very very grating.
I hope Greta doesn’t win. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good song (very well produced and polished) but there are so many unique choices this year and this seems very standard in comparison
For me as a latvian, the "tautumeitas" song is a let down. I do not like it at all, and the worst part is the fact that I know they can do soooo much better.
Love that Indie identity Latvia has! I wonder if Kobra could pull off the same magic that Vēstulēs did last year! I'm excited for this national final, a super strong year for Latvia! 💖
Thank you for the amazing in depth review 💛 #ramtai
@@citi_zeni let ludvig win please
I’m seeing a lot of love for KoBra and Tepat outside of the ESC scoreboard, they do seems to be relatively popular!
yea i got loads of comments about it on the first vid, thats why i wa so surprised to see them so low

Oh wow so there is a lot of X factor alumni. It’s a reunion!
The ESC Discord ranking has Zelts and Sadzejot at 1st and 2nd currently, I'm glad that the discord community has different opinions ❤
i might start including them in the Analysis vids as well then from now on
Where can you find that ranking? Im in the discord but have no idea where to find it

Let's go Supernova for developing the Latvian music scene 💖

Thanks for the analysis! I also love the indie vibe in Supernova this year. My absolute favorite is KoBra, followed by Tepat and The Ludvig.

Thanks 🙏🏻
Zelts appreciation😍My favourite is Julianna tho
Great job as well.
thank you 🙏🏻

I love latvian nf this year❤
I got 7 songs that I would be down to support. Odds are looking good for me.
Once again we tend to agree. I also have, at the moment, Kobra in first and Sinergija in second place. It all depends on how they sound live.

I just fell in love with Bur man Lami. But it's great National selection.
I hope Kobra brings justice to vestules from last year!

Oh my, February 8 is UMK as well. As a Finn, that will be my priority.
I love Līgo from Ludvig, if he has strong staging, that really has a chance. I also love the two songs in Latvian, but unfortunately, its not eurovsion material
Ligo HAS to win!!!
I can see at least one of the baltic states going close to winning next year.
I generally agree on a lot of things. I don't however think Justs' song isn't as disjointed as you said in your reaction. Monster gives me Greedy by Tate McRae vibes... And I'm unsure whether that's a good thing or not.
i got the exact same vibes, and that automatically means it's my last place 😭 but i totally see the appeal of it
I hope Greta doesn’t win. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good song (very well produced and polished) but there are so many unique choices this year and this seems very standard in comparison
For me as a latvian, the "tautumeitas" song is a let down. I do not like it at all, and the worst part is the fact that I know they can do soooo much better.
ah thats disappointing that its not their best
No joke, Zelts is a potential winner.
omg i love love love lovelove KoBra, it really reminds me of Vestules (albeit less good)
Im gonna be in shock if any of the chosen songs will not qualify to the grand final
You have wierd top 10 😢
weird = unique = not mainstream
