    The thing I like most about all your videos: Just about the time I say to myself "let me rewind that and watch that again", you repeat once or twice like you're reading my mind. Best learning videos on hunting, Thanks!

    Just returned to this video after a full season of not using my MADROCK. Great to have that extra confidence; thank you PPO for concise review of just what I needed👍

    It’s early Sept. I’am actually in a tree practicing my climbing and descending technique. Pre season. Thought I better UA-cam a madrock video before going down.
    Thanks you provide the perfect video.

    Black sharpie and draw a few arrows on the silver parts for the proper rope direction is what I did when I first started...

    • @platinumpursuitoutdoors

      Yeah, there are definitely some mixed thoughts. What I have done is simply take the tail end of my rope just below my device, I tie a figure 8 and slip it into my carabiner.

    Good luck this year everybody and be safe. I had a friend from Kansas get paralyzed last week. It’s been heavy on my heart so been trying to send friendly reminder.

    Couple of questions:
    1.) are there a lot of fakes on the market for this belay device? If so, how do you know it’s a real mad rock? And…
    2.) what brand of vest is that you’re wearing?
    Thanks

  • @KendallLeyder

    Hey Brother, I noticed you said you were hunting with your daughter. My question is this, and by the way I have watched many of your videos and enjoy all of them. Your attention to detail has been beneficial, the things you repeat are the things a lot of people look over. Back to the question, I want to get my boy into saddle hunting, he is 13 and small for his age. I use a Latitude method 2 , before the magnets and he wants to learn how to saddle hunt as well. Have you gotten your daughter in a saddle and what do you recommend. I'm also a big fan of Trophyline products as I use the cays pack and EDP. Cost wise what do you recommend. Thank you for your content.

      Hey man thanks for stopping in! My daughter was hunting with me since she was 12 out of a saddle. She uses the Latitude Method as well! And she rappels! Just practice with him in a tree and he will do great!

  • @ultimaider6138
    @ultimaider6138 3 роки тому

    I do it the same exact way. I now remove my madrock from my rope after every hunt. Especially if I leave my rope in the tree between hunts. That’s the last thing I want to be missing.

    • @platinumpursuitoutdoors
      @platinumpursuitoutdoors  3 роки тому

      Brother DONT LEACE YOUR ROPE IN A TREE. Squirrels will chew it. Ive climbed trees for years brotha. Use 550 cord. Chase your rope with 550 cord then chase your rope back in before the hunt. Just a recommendation buddy.

    • @ultimaider6138
      @ultimaider6138 3 роки тому

      @@jordancler931 l have thought of that. Therefore I will only leave my rope out over night when the squirrels are sleeping.

    Is it safe to climb 8mm Oplux w the madrock? I am rope walking and my foot and knee ascender are all rated for 8mm but madrock says 8.1. Do you have any problems ascending w the mad rock w 8mm? I just got the madrock and before I scream 50 foot up. I would like someones experience on rope diameter

    • @platinumpursuitoutdoors
      @platinumpursuitoutdoors  3 роки тому

      Ok so I know several people who use 8mm OPLux without problems. However, I personally can’t recommend going lower than specs. I would just mess around with it and make a decision based on that.

    Why is the Madrock Lifeguard undesirable for this application?

    • @platinumpursuitoutdoors
      @platinumpursuitoutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      Because it works via a spring so there has to be tension on the rope. It doesn’t grip the rope as quickly

    How do you retrieve your rappel rope?

    • @platinumpursuitoutdoors
      @platinumpursuitoutdoors  3 місяці тому

    • @platinumpursuitoutdoors

    • @wadesoutdoors1914
      @wadesoutdoors1914 2 роки тому

      @@platinumpursuitoutdoors that’s what I was wondering how you determine how fast you go . Does your rope hand determine how fast or slow you go , other then the hand on the lever . Sorry I wasn’t specific at first .

    • @platinumpursuitoutdoors
      @platinumpursuitoutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      Hey no worries. I uses the lever as the speed gauge. That’s why I like the madrock a lot. It’s easy to set your speed and slow down or speed up. If I was to hold onto the tail end really tight I would be able to gauge my speed but also get rope burn lol.
