last year's review: this bike is great, front end is great, back end is great.
this year's comments about last year's bike: front is crap, back end is crap. this year's bike is awesome.
I've gotta say, the headset kit is a true game changer IMO. Everyone has been trying to add versatility with a flip chip, but most of them are like .4 degrees. Who the hell notices that
the flip switches make a diff in how the shock feels usually but not the front. i used to combine them with a canecreek crown race that does the same thing for the same reason, so its probably not at all that new - but its definitely waaaaaaaaaaay more convenient than a crown race.
Wow diggin the adjustability. I like the 160 & 150 for where I live and we have tight n twisty with lots of roots . Being able to make it 65.5 degree head angle is so nice we have short super steep climbs and not being locked into the Wild West geo only is nice .
Just bought a brand new 2021 Specialized S-Works Stumpjumper EVO on Saturday, went on my first 10 mile pavement ride yesterday; be hitting the trails soon; the bike was almost $10k plus tax.
Omg I just ordered one and this made me more exited!
Have mine* pre-ordered, can't wait for spring ;-) I'll be running it mullet style for sure.
Seems like a solid choice for the one bike to do all. The Comp is the model I'd go for. Wonder if they'll come out with an AL model to compete with the Ripmo AF? Regular Stumpy will probably just be this 150F/140R Fox 34/RS and inline shock.
That exposed carbon looks insane, my new dream bike, this is
Wild that the MSRP for this bike is $6,300 now. 2022 is “on sale” now for $4,899.
Damn! You are a fantastic reviewer.
I wonder how it compares to my previous generation evo that I have set up with a 160 fork, cascade link, and long shocked with a 255x52.5 shock for 150ish mm of travel. Long shocking it with the cascade link solved the issues with the stock suspension kinematic of the previous generation for me and has made it an excellent enduro/do everything decently bike for me. It kinda sounds like that's one of the main things they changed for the new generation and I think it's awesome that the new model is basically what I modified my bike to, but it comes stock.
Thank you so much for mentioning your height and the bike size!!
The updates to the new Evo look outstanding. I'd probably go with the new Evo Expert. Solid build, and I can swap over my fancy wheels from my old bike prior to selling it. With that said, the new Trek Slash is still high on my list and it's going to be a tough choice. I'm planning to demo both prior to making my decision.
Ha! This is what's bad. We buy bikes then have to make it ours. I'm thinking for this I would have to change the; bar, grips, seat, tires and with CushCore, pedals, Invis, I know I'm forgetting... something.
Wow. Sweet!
very nice bike
So next question, will there be an aluminum frame option, like the previous EVO had?
I will buy a Huffy. I could use some help here. I am in my early 40's I was in pretty good shape until this covid thing happened. I live in Florida and some of the trails here have alot of roots. I used to have a TRek hardtail and it was not very comfortable riding the trails. I am planning on moving to North Carloina in a year. I want to street ride the bike and maybe some minor trail riding for a few months to get my endurance up and lose some weight before I start trail riding. I should have kept the trek for street riding and only using mountain bike for trail riding but I gave the trek away. It is hard to spend $5000 on a bike that I might not use often. If you could spend between 1500 and 2500 what would you get.
At 2:48 is an eye candy!! Gosh
What is the max tire size you could run on this? It comes with 2.3”. Could you run a 2.5” or bigger on it?
meanwhile I'm here riding the shit out of my 2004 Stumpjumper, they are great bikes I wish I could afford the newer ones
Juan Miguel Gual Alonso you aren’t missing much except the payment. Biking is biking.
2004 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Pro here. Still rips just fine. Getting hard to find 26" tires though..
Awesome spec for the price!
its cheaper than i thought it would be, but its still too expensive for me. im going to buy a propain spindrift with mullet setup, and i bet its going to ride as good as the specialized enduro.
i was thinking about this bike or the normal stump jumper not sure if i want to get s3 or s4 im just under 6ft
Nicely done ad, Vital. This is the only review of the 6 or 8 I have read or watched that says the bike climbs better than just okay. The angle headset? I asked in the Specialized shop a couple of years ago about putting one in my Stumpy and they said no way. Won't work; could void the warranty. Bike marketing at it's best!
I want to test one..but they are not in stock on the website.
Currently ride a xl nomad v4 but its too small, is the new evo a downgrade in point and shoot down the mountain
Amazing bike for sure.
But what's with that colour scheme?? Looks like a back yard rattle can job.
i first thought this was perfect for jibbing put then the 29ers kicked in
We just want an affordable ALU version 😣
Yep. Who cares about the "vertical compliance" of carbon when it's sitting on top of 150 mm of travel for an extra thousand dollars.
I thought Brandon left vital, is this his final review?
Were you guys riding purgatory
i am ur 1000th like. less go
how does that compare to the slash or altitude
Was this recorded in Mammoth, CA?
anyone knows what brake are they using?
I can’t decide between this or the sb150. It feels weird going full enduro cause I still gotta climb but this thing is slacker and the same amount of rear travel...
Also does anyone know which one climbs better?
What’s the max tire size for this model?
Member when water bottles were not cool?
Can you review the Rocky Mountain slayer?
I have a 2020 C90 Slayer 27.5 so I can give you an honest review. It’s fucking bonkers.
how much is just the frame?
Nice Bike but amazing price
I want to see Curtis Keene rip on it first.
I am 5'11'', what size is better for me s3 s4? thx
In Canada this is just under 8k, so I'd say yall are lucky its this "cheap"
Would the 2020\1 PIVOT SWITCHBLADE beat this bike in every aspect? Climbing, sprinting, descending, tight turns, NOT destroyer of pedals and cranks, flat surfaces, roots, rock gardens, etc. overall quality, quality control... thank you, and good videos!
why could this not release later because it will be sold out and I know it
so what´s the difference now with the Status?
Status is a mullet heavy duty(aka heavy)/ fun park bike, this is 29er carbon trail/enduroish bike
29 ish lbs?
At that price my friend there are not going to be many riders who can, or even want to afford it except those racers who hope to earn prize money riding those downhills. I have one of the original Specialized Rock Hoppers and it is twenty plus years old and has none of the fancy stuff these new bikes have. No shocks on the back, (hard tail) and minimal on the front. I still ride it from time to time but at my age of 74 I have to be careful, because this last winter I had to major accidents on it. Didn't bother the bike at all, but I got messed up pretty good each one taking me a month to recuperate from. I had heard recently that Specialized has gone on to only produce top end bikes which they are charging a premium price for. My first Specialized was a Ten Year anniversary gift from the gentleman I work for. That road bike is the Aluminum Ceramic composite, with the name Aliez which I have since given to a grandchild who was headed off to Davis to study and now on to San Francisco to study to become a Dentist, and he still rides it. Specialized was my bike of choice, but I can no longer afford them.
Ultimate trailbike =>> Enduro
Enduro =>> Do it all bike
Downhill = ???
Do it all bike is this one enduro isnt a do it all a trail bike it espcially with this bike it practically has enduro travel while climbing much better
@@skyshade9106 yes but enduro 180 travel also can do it all, climb, descent etc
@@Topan_Conspiracy uh no there is no specalzied trek yeti nukeproof canyon cannodale Any brand there is no enduro bike thst is a better do it all this bike shits on enduros for climbing and is almost as good for descents
I have yet to try this new stumpy, but my s3 enduro 2020 climbs amazing.. 6.2k gain over 40 miles... no sweat. 52t sram.
how much $ ?
What do you think of this vs the Ibis Ripmo V2? I can get the deore spec Ripmo with a factory 36 and factory X2 for about $50 more than the Stumpy Evo
😁
Gosh look at how the prices changed in 2022 lol.
These are way more expensive now
Is it really true that all evo models were sold out in less than 36 hours? Say it ain't so!
THe 52T is fine and dandy. It's the fact that it's backed-up by the 42T that's horrible. Sram should make a whole new cassette if they're trying to go 10-52, not just modify the large sprocket. Make the jumps between gears more consistent, not less. Or just stick to the 50T and call it a day...
Damn this oneuping in this industry.
I mean I have both shimano and sram on my two bikes and its honestly hard to tell the difference of jumps
Ethan Benton I think 28-33-39-45-51 is a lot smoother than 28-32-36-42-52, especially in chunky tech with minimal traction
yzedf it is. I wish they’d make it 10-13-15-17-19-21-23-28-33-39-45-51
2 tooth jumps through the most commonly used gears would be so sweet. As a singlespeed fan, I rarely use my 32x10 or 32x51, but am sure glad they are there when I want them. I almost always wear out a single cog (17, 19, or 21) before any of the others because it feels best on most of the hundreds of miles of well built, topo-following trails built here in Prescott, AZ.
Love the mint color. Too bad the whole bike isn't that color. 😁
Trail Lady MTB: That pistachio dark green dual color is nasty as. What was someone thinking? Either color alone is ok.
5'10 on an S3?
I am 5'10" and went with an S3 too. I think if all you were riding were fire roads and lift/shuttle access, then S4 would be great. If you have any tech climbing or even tight/tech descents, the S3 is great.
Easy acces to water
This is kenevo 2020 but not e-bike
This same bike is now $6000 less than a year later.…
Specialized is dealing once again. It’s now a year later (2023) and this bike is on sale for just $100 more than it was two years ago - and $1,000 less than this time one year ago. Strange times - when $5,000 is a good deal, right?
Expect to wait 7+ months to get your bike.
That's what I'm seeing too... Supposedly they're oversold and the next run will arrive in March at the earliest, but possibly June/July. I have one on order, but the shop has a new Bronson in stock and I'm really considering getting that and cancelling the order. If we weren't heading into winter that's definitely what I'd do.
The ultimate trail bike...
Trail bike with 29" wheels + 160mm/150mm of travel and 64.5° HA?
They trying to start a new trend or is that just where things are going?
Actually this is their rowdy “trail” bike that kind of carries over that “evo” name. The regular stumpy drops very soon. Not sure why they are doing separate launches.
Prefiro Demo
Where’s the motor , Lol
fcking over price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can almost guarantee I will like my ripmo AF with dvo for 3k more than this.
Depends on where you live. In my region the ripmo af slx will run you as much as the stumpjumper
You are right. Not all of us need or want 64 or less HTA and enduro bro type of riding.
Batscat honestly yes but that’s the large sizes and up the medium which I use is good looking.
@@aidenmtb5784 no it's not, sadly all of them are just ugly. Work great thought!!!
infomercial?
@@stiingya with no real comparisons to other bikes or mentions of the horrid value I'm inclined to say no
Looks good to shred but it’s still fuglly as shit. Cant wait to give one push.
Cant wait 4 years to buy a used one for $1600 😁👍
Why they done that silly paint job?
Too pricey? Your local Walmart sells bikes, but you should ride at your own risk.
Amazing for an extra grand you can buy a LEVO.
Offset shock on a bike that breaks shocks? Eeeessssh.
Add all the travel you want, Specialized is still a dad bike.
Basically it took specialized 5 years to make the Yeti SB 5.5.
The expert model is the equivalent of $6000 in the UK. Absolute fucking joke. I'll stick to YT.
The crisis is coming. Anyone is going to buy a brand new bike?
5k is ehm, way to overpreiced !!! imagine that you can buy cars with that money!!!
For $4,899, is the Stumpjumper EVO Expert worth it?
Yes
yes, but I wish they made an aluminum and cheaper version because I really like the geo and the customizability of the bike
In aluminum and to lower the price.
Eric Cartman's Strength and Power you obviously are still stuck in the retro age or don’t know much about bikes
I see the expert for 5499 EU in Europe. that is a lot.
