I loved this battle. Between the two Super Dreadnaughts of the Klingon and Cardassian fleets we see the differences in doctrine and design. The Super Neghvar is more designed to operate in traditional Klingon doctrine mixing it up with enemy ships or ambush, as well as anchoring a fleet. The Hutet though is very much designed to operate as a Fleet anchor to smash enemy capital ships with attack by fire from within the battle-line, or as a battlegroup with cruisers protecting its flanks. And, of course, as a mobile heavy weapon platform for planetary sieges and against starbases. As such, the Hutet has more firepower than the Super Neghvar, but isn't as maneuverable or well protected. It does less well by itself than the Super Neghvar. But if used correctly it is a goddamn menace.
My thoughts on the other mods. I love the Super Neghvar. It is about perfect. Well-balanced. The Hutet though, this Mark II variant is pretty tough despite being nerfed and is 85% there. Like all the Cardassian ships in BC, the game design takes away its biggest tool by nerfing its Mega Spiral Wave lances that could one-shot kill Galaxy Class starships. I would do only two things to make this mod perfect: 1) The Mark II would be much improved if its mega SWD cannons were more powerful with a greater field of fire. Those cannons are the whole point of building a ship that big. Whereas it may be too much to give it one-shot kill capability against capital ships, at the very least, a solid hit by its lance should inflict very heavy shield damage against even 25th Century capital ships. Without that capability the ship is pretty much defanged. 2) The Mark II should also have rapid regenerative shielding which was a major plot-point in its appearances in games and books (it had very effective self-repair systems like the Dreadnaught Missile).
I was watching the battle and wondering when the big cannons would punish the Excelsior 2, but it never happened. It was the torpedoes that destroyed the Excelsior in the first battle. Hard to tell, the beams all look the same.

Great vids and have to say this was up there. The E2 is a thing of beauty. I rate the upgrade alongside the refit of the TOS in terms of design and evolution
I think the Excelsior 2 is fantastic update to an already popular ship, keeping the secondary hull design so it matches the first version is a class touch and a nod to the fans.
To preface, I loved the battle and the design. It looks great. The Excelsior II is a good design, but I feel this mod is a bit overpowered. The EII is supposed to be a heavy cruiser. Even if it is a 25th Century ship, it should not be able to take out one heavy dreadnaught, much less two. It should be a good 50% weaker than an Inquiry or Odyssey Class and roughly comparable to a Sovereign Class refit, but different (faster, more agile less tanky). Or, am I wrong? Is the EII supposed to be a Battlecruiser level ship? In any event, it should struggle against super-heavies even if they are older.
This was a fun match to watch. I laughed hard when the Negh'var and Hutet collided lol. I do give the winner to the Klingons/Cardassians for sure. I really have really appreciated the Excelsior 2 since it debuted in Picard. It's definitely a cool step up of the original Excelsior design. I loved seeing Sisko fighting Klingons in OPS with a Bat'leth that was awesome.

I misread the title as you taking the excelsior 2 vs 2 SN and a Hutet, and it still sounded like a winnable battle. Probably not unless you went for sensor arrays, but still.
Happens to me every time I play against one. Hutet's explosion instantly destroys my ship, no matter which ship I use, unless I put enough distance between us and let my AI ally finish the Hutet off.
The Excelsior 2 maybe be able to take on either of them in a one on one fight, but two requires the intervention of the local god in charge of luck. And even then, it's almost a photo finish who explodes first.
The unrefit original excelsior is my favorite all time Star Trek ship. That has upgunning and upsizing while keeping the classic clean lines. Worthy successor but I'll still take the original. Can we get an Obena class at some point? That is a truly gorgeous ship.

What do I have to buy/download/install for the main game, the mods (which mods?), and where would I find ships like these? Is there an up-to-date web page somewhere that goes over the process? So the Excelsior II is smaller than a Sovereign but can apparently rather easily defeat a Super-Neghvar - that‘s dang impressive. How does it compare to an Inquiry-class? (which is the toughest ship in Starfleet according to Cpt. Riker)

Hi there, after one sleepless night I would very much appreciate some technical help with installing the Star Trek Bridge Commander game (vanilla and in particular with the new Legacy mod). My System: I am using Windows 11 and trying to run Star Trek: Bridge Commander (the GOG version). My Problem: I’m experiencing significant GUI and mouse control issues when trying to play Star Trek: Bridge Commander. While the game does launch, the user interface is unresponsive, and I can’t control the mouse properly within the game. This problem persists even when I run the game without any mods, and it’s been incredibly frustrating. What I’ve Tried: Compatibility Mode: I’ve tried running the game in Windows XP and Windows 7 compatibility modes. I also disabled fullscreen optimizations and tried adjusting DPI scaling, but some settings were either locked or wouldn’t take effect. Modding: I installed the Legacy Mod to enhance graphics and gameplay, but the same issues continued. Even after removing the mod and doing a clean reinstall of the game, the problem persists. Borderless Gaming: I purchased Borderless Gaming in hopes of running the game in a borderless windowed mode, but this didn’t resolve the GUI and mouse problems. DirectX and Graphics: I’ve also tried adjusting DirectX settings, updating my graphics drivers, and using compatibility tools like dgVoodoo2 and WineD3D to force the game to work on modern systems, but none of these attempts have been successful. After trying all of these approaches, I’m really frustrated as nothing seems to fix the issue, and I can’t get the game to work properly. Thanks so much in advance!!1 :)
Looks like th excelsior 2 had a tonne of power availability, could you go into advanced power and double up all the shields and the repair subsystem? Would be interesting to see how then holds up against some powerful opponents.
This would only be possible I’m kobayahsimaru. Sadly I find whenever you use the excelsior 2 in kobay it always crashes. In remastered the best you can do is 125% in power boosts 🖖

This game's collision mechanics are comically bad. I've never seen a game more touchy with collisions than this one. It's an endearing quirk but it's pretty crazy if you aren't expecting it!

Is there a reason you don't rotate when getting hit and top shields fail? I. The first round I think you could have won if you had done so.

That would only work in kobayahsimaru sadly, remastered is limited to 125%. I find it too unstable in kobayashimaru 🤣
