I am picking up my first 1999 Defender TD5 on Saturday. Excited to get started with it and these videos have given me inspiration. I just hope to god that I haven’t bought a pig!
Morning Doc and welcome back 😘
Just a suggestion, I have a Puma Defender, I took it to ‘Audiofile’ who have a channel on here and had a double din conversion, the work is sublime and the attention to detail outstanding, it’s one of the best upgrades I have, to be able to have a lovely big screen and Apple CarPlay is awesome.
I have also fitted the rear door strut, my one also pops off the last door card clip, anyone found a solution yet? I fitted my one with the main piston bit inside the door card as per the manufacturers website and not the supplied instructions, still didn’t work ☹️
Another good install is the Mudstuff heater deflector, easy install and makes a big difference.
Next time there’s a meet up I’ll show you my beast.
Kind regards
Tony
Thanks Tony! I shaved a bit off the rear door card so it doesn’t pop off. I think it a common
Problem. I have seen audiofiles work and they may well be the ones I’ll get in touch with re: sound system thanks!
That LR looks absolutely stunning, if life was perfect I would have one as well, but I do not, I hope you have heaps of fun when driving it about, best regards from Australia 👍👍👍👍
Hi all the way to Australia 👋! Thanks for watching and glad you like it, it is certainly fun to drive although not sure my wife agrees!
Nice video so good to know we’re everything is from
Cheers Thomas - hope it helps anyone looking for parts!
Some nice mods I shall be incorporating some of those in mine for sure.
Thank you. Good luck. Feel free to ask if you struggle to find any parts.
@@thedoctorsgarage I will more than likely be in touch soon. Love your channel
I am looking forward to buy a classic land rover 109 much preferably a station wagon left hand drive?
Sorry what year is it?
Looks good mate.👍💪🛠
This is honestly one of the best builds on UA-cam
Appreciate that Matthew 🙏🏼
Hi mate let me know if you sell the wing mirrors or rear door card , I’m in nottingham too 😎👍🏽
Will do, thanks!
Where did you get the iwatch strap from please?
Hi, it's a Spigen one from Amazon, it's definitely prevented me from damaging my watch! - amzn.to/43F0AYc
where can i get those silver/aluminium door silll cover
For the driver and passenger door sills I got mine off eBay - if you search door sills defender you should find some
I genuinely love these videos, I am on the hunt for my very first Defender and your tips and upgrades are great. I like the metal gear knobs and pedals too :)
Was it classed as a van for insurance before? How did you switch to a CSW policy, assuming you did?
Loved all the vids and literally followed you step by step doing up my 90.
Keep it up!
Cheers Charlie- glad to hear it’s helped with yours!
Totally cost of restoration including the engine
love the build and everything you’re doing to it :) where did you learn to do everything?
Thanks! Literally make it up as I go along
Well Doc, you inspired me and a few months in and I’m loving my 08 Puma. Will be tackling fitting central locking then new PowerUk door cards, keep up the great work.
Nice glad to hear you enjoy the videos! 🙏🏼
Hi Doc, where have been? It's been a long time since your last video, was worried that you had given up on UA-cam.
Anyway glad your back in Action, and will be posting more videos on your Defender, looking forward to them already.👍
Thanks! Took a bit of time out but back now 👌🏻
Hi, I noticed your Fox Shocks are mounted with the body nearest the ground, this seems counterintuitive as most have the body at the top ? I recall Alive fitted these,so is this the recommended fitting ?
Yes alive fitted them like this with the open turrets. Makes no difference which way around they are I believe.
Also helps keep them clean for all the off roading I do 😂
Great series of videos, really useful. Where did you get your front number plate? (you said you'd put it in the description but I can't see it) TIA
Thanks! Yes I forgot - they were from
Pro plate- can make any size to fit where you need 👌🏻. proplates.co.uk/collections/stick-on-number-plates/products/custom-size-stick-on-number-plates
Where was the front number plate sticker from please? Great build 👍
Hey Greg- it was from Pro Plates they make custom size plates
Great walk around thanks. Looking to get my first defender. What should I look out for to get a modest but solid one?
Hi
👋🏼
Hey love the build, just noticed when you showed the steering damper, you've put both the rubber bushings on one side of the chassis mount point, need one either side with a washer!
Hey Joe-thanks for pointing it out. Just looked back through the footage and been out to see my defender and you’re absolutely right - my mistakeI’m going to get to it this weekend 👌🏻👌🏻
@@thedoctorsgarage no problem at all! Fresh in my mind as had literally just finished fitting the terrafirma steering damper,
Sure it won't make alot of difference but best to get it right!
Keep it up! Love the content!
Some good additions. You should also consider Uproar products, which are superb quality.
Agreed Jason, Scott has become a good friend since I began buying his excellent kit, not cheap, but easily the very best on the UK market by quite some margin. ❤ Uproar 4x4 !
Your defender is very smart. Personally I would remove the "defender" bonnet lettering. All you need is front mud flaps and side steps.
Thanks. I really need to sort out the Defender lettering whether that means replacing or removing, still deciding!
More to the point, WHY do you have Discoverer STT Pro Mud tyres on what is clearly an urban tractor that never ever sees even a Green lane let alone a muddy, rutted track? Your losing even more money in fuel economy.
…But they do look cool don’t they
🙄🙄🥱
Have you had mot with that plate on the vent? What did they say
I have and it was fine! It’s high up so it doesn’t get covered in mud with all the off roading I do
