    Awesome video Jacob. This is a great video and has really helped me with transferring waypoints from Google Earth to my unit! Works for Garmin units as well! Thanks and God Bless!

    With the demise of Insight Planner, can i use Google earth to manage my waypoints? Use to export *.USR files, then import into IP, rename and save by lake as well as a master copy. Thanks in advance. jws

    Great informational video. I'm looking forward to purchasing one of these units. I'm curious because I too have an Elite 7 Chirp. Can I add these waypoint to my unit also?

    • @lowrance

    Thanks for the help but now it looks like Google Earth has changed. I don't see anywhere to "Save place as", I only see export klm file, but I get an error message on my mac saying I don't have a program to open that type of file. Please help

    Why are you deleting the previously saved Waypoints before you upload the new ones? Do you not go back to these waypoints? I want to build a digital waypoint encyclopedia of lakes in my area.

    Can one display Google Earth via their cell phone onto their Lowrance Elite9?

    I've got this & exporting my waypoints to an SD card down with no problem. My problem is that I can get my waypoints from google earth, but how to you get trails from google earth? I've made a ton of trails on google earth, but they didn't transfer over, just the waypoints transferred.....hope I don't have to go back & erase the trails & make them waypoints......help?

    • @lowrance
      @lowrance  7 років тому

      The trails/Paths you have created on Google Earth should import also. They should show up in the Trails tab on the unit. They do not show up in the Routes folder, but after importing, Trails can be converted to a route in the HDS units.

      Lowrance I've looked under both, the trail & routes tabs, & they are not showing up. Also, after loading everything from google earth into my HDS units, I was going to erase my SD card & reinstall everything from google earth to make sure it was loaded on card correctly & my card is locked & wont let my computer make any changes on my SD card....how do I unlock my SD card after using it in my HDS?

    Im not seeing a "show all" button with mine once it's converted.

    • @lowrance
      @lowrance  7 років тому +1

      The web browser you are using may not have a “show all” prompt after you have downloaded the software. I recommend having a folder that you select to download the software to, or download it directly to your desktop and then move it to your desired folder.

    does this only work on the HDS units. I have a Hook5 and an Elite4.

    • @lowrance
      @lowrance  7 років тому +3

      No this is not limited to the HDS units. The GPX file can be used by the Elite HDI/CHIRP, HDS, Hook and Elite-Ti units

    For Lowrance and Windows users, there is now a more powerful way to move Google Earth waypoints. Will also support sorting and bulk-editing the new waypoints with characteristics you prefer: icon-type, icon-color, icon-name or icon-only display, etc. Reefmaster Waypoint Manager: reefmaster.com.au/index.php/products/waypoint-manager.
    FYI: For sorting and bulk-editing waypoints with RWM, be sure and assign names in GE to the GE waypoints so you can sort by name in RWM.

    Just a FYI, I started watching the video and opened my google earth. With the free google earth, you can't get historical timelines.. you have to have Google earth pro. I haven't read thru the comments to see if anyone else mentioned that..

    Why not create an overlay of the Google Earth Image?

    • @lowrance
      @lowrance  7 років тому

      Creating an overlay of Google Earth to go onto the unit is far more complicated and time consuming. It also requires additional software and may infringe on image Copyrights. C-Map Max N+ cards offer Satellite Imagery as well as other 3rd party mapping companies

    • @alspaeth
      @alspaeth 7 років тому

      Then why offer Insight Map Creator free? I find it easy and have used it with my HDS8 for uncharted dams here in South Africa. Haven't seen any Google Earth copyright warnings for personal use. Also there is free software for use with DJI drones to map areas and convert to digital maps which can be converted with Insight.

    Makes no sense that when before you purged the unit you had 169.1 MB of free space, and afterwards you have 168.9 of free space. Purging the unit actually took up space!?!?

    Google earth cant save to a GPX file? I have a Lowrance Mark 4-HDI which can read .gpx files so it would be nice to not have to convert although I know its a quick simple step. Was just curious.
