    Ski boots are always with me during the flight. Same for a helmet. Together they will save a lot of weight, space and make sure that crucial parts of the equipment are with you.

      How? I will fly with Wizzair, there I am only allowed a small bag below the seat and one in which is my laptop etc. Then I have 10 kg paid luggage out of the cabin and my ski equipment. I don't believe that it will be allowed to take my boots and helmet into the cabin.

      @@bertholdkynast8464 Just hold you ski boots in hands (without any bag) and have a plastic bag that can hold both boots inside one of them. If you have issues with airport stuff - you can simply put on your ski boots and attach usual boots to your cabin luggage. But I was never asked to to it - I never had issues with ski boots in my hands.

      @@ambc38vsxn I wonder that you got through with that, maybe you fly often with skis, but was it also Wizzair, because maybe the cheap airlines are not that tolerant as the big ones with higher prices. I have no cabin luggage, only my laptop bag of 40 x 30 x 20 cm of max. size. In their rules they prescribe that also the boots and helmet is within the ski bag with skis and poles.

    I know you say to use the skis to make the structure but I always wrapped my skis in the clothes so they won’t get as damaged when chucked around in transit.

    boots are actually a great place for smallish delicate and/or heavy items, like avalanche beacons etc, sometimes goggles will fit as well. they are great for protection, also they are at the roller end, so any weight is perfectly put there.

    Thanks for the tips. What about ski poles? I've seen them placed between the 2 skis. What do you think?

    I am sending everything via shipskis who use DHL. From Australia to Whistler. Fingers crossed everything arrives intact.
    This video is very helpful in organising ski bag packing, thank you.

    I have just one pair of skis and I am afraid to put the skis "loose" like that at the bottom for the fear that they might move around. The blades might cut the soft gear and maybe the skis can be damages of they get on top of each other.
    Am I being too stressed about it? My skis are brand new and I am so afraid to damage them 😳

      I always use electrical tape to round the edge of the skis. It helps to protect the ski edge and other gears.

    Very helpful video, I will fly the first time with ski, with Wizzair, and I have no idea how they handle this in detail, if they even allow to stuff other things in addition into the ski bag. There is not written even a word about this subject. I have also no idea about, how to mark such skibag with my name and address, or if it is allowed or advisable to have the ski bag wrapped in foil at the airport.

    Hey, I have a good offer for a Ski bag (100€ cheaper than usual), but it is 12 cm longer than my Ski. Will this be annoying and should i rather go with a 190cm Bag or will it be fine? My skis are 188cm the bag is 2m.

    There is no « danger » to damage the skis placing the boots on the top of them without any layer to protect? I don’t have wheels on my bag so it’s less obvious for people at the airport to know what’s the bottom… :)

    So I understand about putting the brakes in rubber bands but you twist the binding and I don’t get that. How do you do that and why?

    • @nickw22689
      @nickw22689 5 місяців тому

      Touring bindings. You probably have alpine bindings which don’t have a twisting mechanism.

    Alot of airlines will charge you differently if you add jackets or clothing into the bag.
