- Hey guys! This is a video of the garage doors at my aunt’s house! They have two 8x7 Amarr garage doors, and one of them has an opener on it, which is a LiftMaster 8355 belt drive garage door opener. Hope you enjoy the video!
Really smooth garage door opener the only thing I would possibly change on that door is adjusting the door arm so it’s not straight up and down like that and adjusting the down limit because it’s pushing pretty hard on the door and opener or you can even see the rail flexing a little bit
Yeah I did notice that, but probably won't chance it. My door pushes pretty hard and the rail flexes.
I'm not an expert, I'm just saying this based on personal experience and observations, but it looks like whoever put that opener on got one with a carriage rail that was the exact length of the door's run, cause I noticed the up limit was set to about 2 in from the limit screw (could be wrong, hard to exactly tell from the video cause it was only shown once, but it was very close) with the bottom door going slightly past the top of the doorway, so the opener was set pretty much to its limits. I also noticed, when Luke closed the door at the end video, at rest, opened, the door looks to be as close to the carriage rail as normally allowed, about 3/4 in, then while the top of the door is travelling towards the wall, the gap between it and the carriage rail appears to be increasing, likely indicating a slight downward grade of the door's rails towards the wall, compared to the carriage rail. Also, when shown the front, and back, views, when the door hits the ground, you can see it slam a bit to one side, likely showing that the floor is not level with door at any point along the door's travel other than closed. These factors combined is my best guess as to why the down limit was set that far to begin with, which I agree is a bit too far with the rail flexing, which I didn't even notice until I read your comment.
@@LukeDoorMan If it's pushing so hard when closing, that could be a sign that you should reduce the down force
2:34 I've heard quieter openers. The one on my garage door has the chain fixed within the carriage rail, and instead of the drive gear being located on the motor box, it's on the carriage itself. Even taking into account my door's age (over 30 years, I think it's the original from when my house was built. It's a wooden door, if that means anything), I can barely heard it in operation. I only hear the noise of the motor driving the gear on the carriage, if even that, instead of a very audible chain or belt
Nice!! I like 8355s pretty solid units!
Me too!
Cool!
Thanks!
Nice mwn I'm gonna get a 8365w tomorrow so yeah nice vid
Thanks! I love 8365s, If I can, that's what I'm gonna get to replace the G5000
@@LukeDoorMan The Wayne Dalton doors at your Grandma's house could use 8365's when the 1245's get replaced. When the G5000 gets replaced, you should get an 8550W or 8355W.
Oh And putting the Cj portion of the door arm in the second hole above the one that it is at now and kind of well don’t think it matters or not but I always put in the top one if it works
Cool video!!!!!
Thanks!
@@LukeDoorMan keep up the awsome work you always make my day!!
@@AST_Security Thanks man really appreciate it! :)
Are you gonna put a opener on the other door and if you are what opener
My aunt said she isn't gonna put an opener on that side because she doesn't really need one, but I did convince her to use it more lol
Lol
Very Quiet
