Great to see you get that groove back exploring new waters! Got my first tournament of the season under the belt with a 2nd place finish. Used your process to figure out the puzzle on a tough lake and had success! Thanks for being such a great teacher through your content! Tight lines from the PNW!
This is a very, very nice spot. You can tell by the fish size it's not over-fished and that consistent bite means not stressed. Super schweet. I have a spot like that that requires me to hike in. Very dense vegetation and then just a very calm lake. Lots of casting but when I get bit, keepers! Big work out of the casting arm but very satisfying. Great video! Love seeing you explore new water.
A couple of years ago, I stopped using plastic trailers on spinnerbaits - wanted something more compact at the time and liked it so stuck with it. I haven't really noticed any significant drop or increase in the number of hits I get, but I have noticed a huge drop in short strikes. My theory is that you're more likely to get short strikes if you use a trailer and should probably use a trailer hook. But with no plastic trailer, no trailer hook is necessary.
Such a beautiful day at a beautiful lake! Weird how those few fish had those gashes on them? Btw, I LOVE the music❣️👍🏼I’m here for the relaxation, scenery and always love the music 🎶
FINALLY!!! I've been telling you to fish this lake for years!!! (Not that I'm anybody important 😂) Hands down one of my favorite off the radar, local body of waters. I'm a little late to this vid but if I knew you were fishing here I would of been watched it. Love this lake, frog bite in the summer is amazing! TONS OF GOOD GRASS. Paused the the vid in the into to type this, can't wait to press play 😂👍
I caught my first fish there......58 years ago. I hope you enjoyed it there. It has evolved to quite a nice fishery. There is a mix of large mouth, small mouth, some steelhead, stripers, and sturgeon in the nearby river on your way out.
I like the music Greg, and I think the fact that you have 27k views in 1 day on this video means your doing something right. 🤙 Love this channel and part of what makes it special is the uniqueness of the music.
Frog fishing at that lake is pretty good. Also throw big baits and huds by spillway. Island usually hot spot but water is higher than usual. Lots of cover punch punch punch.
Was this at new melones lake? There was a kayak tounerment there last week and as i was docking my boat i saw santa i ask if u we re there? He say yes ur somewhere out there... was hoping tp catch u 1 day greg
That Ghost minnow dawn Frittside is an excellent bait in my area as well. Keep up on the bass fishing and enjoy life, well I was going to give you a thumbs up but can't find the darn thing on the computer.
Hey Greg you have to come out to lake Sonoma you should launch at yordi creek if you do come out which I highly suggest the bite has been picking up I promise it won’t disappoint largemouth and smallmouth. You can get them on reaction or worms whatever you want really there is a lot of trees along with grass, bushes, and rocks. There’s deep, or shallow pretty much all you can ask for in a body of water. Great job out there it’s the best feeling when you fish a new body of water and do what you think should work then it does.
Such a good bite out there since the major rain we got in March. The high water levels have been key while fishing new submerged structure. Hopefully GB can make the drive out here..
It's always a fun day when you try a new location you've never been to before, and the fish are biting. Nice trip, Greg. And as always, quality video. 👍🐟
Spinner bait and swim jig are my go-to moving baits. Especially how “4x4” they are. Also, even as a viewer it’s cool to see you tackle a new body of water.
Two items; one, approximately every sixth reel turn give the rod a pop. It makes the blade flash at a different angle and triggers strikes. Two, fix that noisy seat! Man, it’s irritating. I used tape to help silence my seat.
Greg , those weeds def hold fish . My nephew showed me a trick last week and we slayed them . Belly weighted screw lock and a swimbait ( gambler ) we’ve been catching them in 6 inches of water . Places I never thought would hold bass . 2-3 lbs consistently in Massachusetts
I'll use a trailer hook for smallmouth that like to slap at a spinnerbait but I never use one for largemouth. Most of the time, using a swimbait trailer is enough to give them the target to hone in on and if they want it, they'll get it. At least the proper sized bass that you want to catch.
Congrats on Saturday.. what a heck of a tournament! Holy smokes after getting out there myself hands down got to give it to you and the guys that is a lot of hard work out there you guys put in.. I kid you not I watched and I learned more than I could have ever have with your videos. That damn I cannot get down fishing with plastics.. I know I just need more more practice which I will work my best at. But if you give a brother any pointers on line.. I have been having an the hardest time with the fishing line I have been trying. I would really love to just find something that I can stick with that works. I guess it's on to tolloch reservoir for me.. hoping for some redemption.. your hard work definitely pays off.. Great Stuff brother! Me and my wife have both learned a ton!!
Osprey, Eagle's, and resident otter's scar up a lot of fish in that lake. Healthy ecosystem, the folks that do enjoy the lake do a good job picking up after themselves.
Video idea. Borrow a mega 360 and a mega live and test them both out separately. So curious which one you would choose based on the way you fish!!! As always, thanks for bringing us along.
I've been waiting. It's about time. Lol.😂 Way to go brother. I said you would be on it. The confident level has shot up. Keep it. This is your year. Can't wait for the next one. Great video.
its crazy how i fish that spinner bait through some cover like that too yesterday! seems swallow but deep from there cali storms. realized they weren't fully committing too so i went smaller profile underspin.
You want to catch them like crazy at that location just fish in the evening right where you started in the video. If theres a breeze you will catch more than you can handle.
Would love to see more of you exploring. Great video. Also not sure what all the comments abt music are for but I like it personally. I think it could be a little quieter when your just talking to the camera, but otherwise it’s a chill vibe.
Greg, your video's are awesome and thank you for making them! I love your garage too! I noticed you store your kayak on a cart with wheels. What a great idea!! What kind of cart is that? Where could i find myself one like that? Thanks again for all your great content and keep up the great work 👍
Hey greg, not sure if you've been fishing the delta recently but im pretty sure most of the fish at the delta, at least more south like around discovery bay have already spawned and are in post spawn right now.
This lake isn't as busy as the neighboring bodies of water, but trust me it gets it's pressure especially from shore. That's why a kayak is essential out here.
Hey Greg! Your videos are awesome! Do you ever think about making videos on other Freshwater fish? I know you done videos in the Ocean before but seeing you Catfishing or fishing for Pike would be sick! I am not sure if those fish even exist in California but would love to see some videos on that! Keep up the great work!
If Greg ever hooks up with NDYakAngler, that would be one heck of a video. I wonder how well Greg would do on all those whopper smallmouth NDYakAngler has out in his part of the country? Heck, NDYakAngler could go out to Greg, too. Similar style and quality of video. And of course, I always hope to see Greg get more trout. Even if they're on accident. 😁
Greg, we need to link up one of these days. Your videos inspired me to get a kayak, which I have. I fish that lake almost every weekend. Lmk next time you head out that way. Also, will you and O fish the UFC this year?
Hey Greg looks like you have a new place to add to your rotation of places to fish. Top water bite should be fun when the water temp comes up. Fun video as always.
Great video! I'm sure it feels great to start catching some fish after all the rough days on the delta...I really wish my local river will turn on also, but It just hasn't happened yet...It doesn't help that we had some flooding last week also
Whaaaat? I’m the first person to comment on a Greg Blanchard video? Of course another awesome video. Always look forward to each one . Great way to start the day. Keep them coming. Thanks for all you do to bring good content Greg. See you soon .
Awesome video GB 🎣 from South Africa 🇿🇦 Just a recommendation Try using a trailer hook with your spinnerbait, you won’t miss half the bites that you are currently missing
Absolutely slayed them out there the kayak is exceptional your able to move around compared to being on the bank but what a day you had the vids are amazing!!

Breaking down water, bait selection, mentality

Music made this video even better! Love watching your videos Greg! Keep up the quality videos!
That's the joy of the game for those who get it,new adventures catching is great but it's the whole package that matters, protect the game,
New water makes us go back to basics and confidence baits. And it doesn't hurt that when it's on, it's on!
As usual Greg another outstanding video! Just beautiful scenery in N California
Love breaking down new water! Keep up the good work my man. I’m trying to grow my channel and you’re a huge inspiration, sir!
I'm in the same boat as you... Trying to grow my channel and Greg is definitely the standard for kayak bass fishing!
@@davidjhomrich I’m not a kayak guy but fishing is fishing and he keeps it 100% honest.
Spinnerbait is one of my favorite baits. Consistent year round and around all types of cover.
Thanks Greg, went out first time last weekend. Skunk! I suck at early spring fishing. Thanks for the video.

Your music is fine Greg. You can’t accommodate everyone who watches your vids.
Don’t lie to him it’s trash
Music does not belong on a youtube episode. The only exception is if there is a time-lapse in it.
Natural sounds are much better.
Yea it’s kinda annoying.😂. Just need something calm or nothing at all.
No music please. Plus it's too loud and is a distraction from your words.
