In Arabic ibadah is connected with related words such as "Ubudiyyah" ("slavery"), and has connotations of obedience, submission, and humility. The word linguistically means "obedience with submission".
In Islam, ibadah is usually translated as "worship" and means obedience, submission, and devotion to God.
Definition of ibadah, including keeping speech free "from filth, falsehood, malice, abuse", and dishonesty, obeying Allah's command and Imam(A.S)'s Farmans Mubaraks in "commercial and economic affairs" and in "dealings with your parents, relatives, friends", and everyone else.
Allah says, "I did not create the jinn and humans except that they may worship(Ibadat) Me.”
If the work we are doing is for the sake of seeking the pleasure of God, then it is an act of worship. It is so even though it may be a business or professional venture, the pursuit of knowledge, marriage, service to people, or anything that is meant to meet our needs or that of society.
Also in one of the Ginans of our Beloved Pir Sadardin (A.S) He says,
"Eji sireva karane ayo
Bana sajo hi sansar,
Jini sireviyo shahke ek man,
Seta paminda mokh didar,
Puri karanija a sacha yar,
Bhavnis langhida par, sainyaji.."
Which Means;
O man! This whole world is here for worshiping God.
Those who remember the Lord with concentration
shall receive salvation and didar. Only true friends
with perfect deeds shall cross this ocean of life.
