Although I was just born by then, it seems the future generations could hardly make such simple and rich kind of music, as if anything that might appeal to good and simple feelings, today, is like a sinful attitude. Those song sound full of rich feelings for those who like to appreciate them.
You have excellent taste. I know that every generation thinks the generation that follows it listens to rubbish music, but I would genuinely hate to grow up surrounded by today's music. So, well done to you for searching out and finding music you do like. No doubt you will get some stick for it from your contemporaries, but you will eventually find yourself rewarded for your individuality and for sticking by your true choices, whereas the trend followers will look back in embarrassment in years to come for following the herd.
Icewitch, I feel the exact same way! The soul and talent that the artists from the 60's can't be beat. Songs of love and social commentary. My older sisters would listen to this kind of music, and I would listen too in the next room. You can't imagine how I miss those times. Love this music!
It took just one look and I was hooked for life! I was 9 when I watched this TOPT and I fell in love with Allan and his beautiful face and voice. This was the first record I bought and I still have it. I never got over the crush either! Thank you for this.
this song makes my eyes wet when I recall that I recorded it on my tape recorder.Who remembers what a GADGET is it? I was about 13 y.o. and came to E.Germany with my parents and started to watch telly with West Werman channel and Beat Club...I still like the group because of their clean silver voices and the manner they are dressed and present themselves not like todays show men and singers..
This was the first record (a 45) that I bought with my pocket money, at age nine at the supermarket after seeing this. I played it over and over again on our new record player. It began a crush on Allan and the Hollies that I have never lost.
Thank you youtube for making it possible for us to relive our youth and childhood. And also thank you to people who posted and shared these videos to the world. Much appreciated.
My 'pop group 'played as support band quite a lot in '63/'64.to the Hollies, Stamford Hall Altrincham and Paar Hall Warrington.First time we had heard brilliant harmonies, especially through there DOUBLE !! VOX COLUMS, and also my first viewing of a stereo Gibby , I was really cheased off with my Guayatone ?? and Linear birdcage amp.after that .
a great time for british bands remember them whos lead singer was van morrison they had a massive hit with here comes the night also the nashville teens with tobacco road
@themak57 In December of 1962, just after they signed a recording contract, and their original lead guitarist decided to stay in school. They knew about Tony and asked him to join. He went to listen to the Hollies when they were performing at the Twisted Wheel in Manchester. He stood outside in an alleyway listening to them, thinking that if he didn't like what he heard, he would just go home. He did like what he heard, and came in to talk to them and say he would like to join them.
I know it all too well! It's my pleasure! This is one of my favorite videos, and I'm so glad that at least performance from TOTPs has been preserved. This is a pop music treasure that should be preserved for future generations!
@2001perseus 60s4everanever is right.Had an old radiogram in the 50/60,s,and took turns in holding the wire to earth it manually, just to listen to Luxembourg, lol. Those were our days ,lvd, and wish we could go back there sometimes--so as the man said--enjoy!
Alan Clarke literally grew up as lead singer of the Hollies. He grew from a nice looking boy with a great voice, to a fine looking Man, with a voice that matured also, and was just wonderful.
+Daisy Flowers oh mercy FINE LOOKIN is the right word. never was a screamer and couldn't understand it. but that man could raise my blood pressure. sadly his voice has problems and he no longer sings
Supposedly, no entire "Top Of The Pops" episodes from prior to December, 1967 exist. But a few clips (like this one) do exist, supposedly because copies of kinescope recordings of some segments were given to the artists involved. I only wish some complete "TOTP" shows from 1964-67 would shot up.
@cgboomer That's a "Fender Bass VI" a very innovative but of kit and the first ever six string bass guitar. Cream used one on the first album and live, the Beatles used them on tracks recorded live in the studio where McCartney played piano, for example; Lennon played Fender Bass VI on "Let It Be" and "Long And Winding Road". George played Fender VBVass VI on "Hey Jude"
i was 14 when this song came out,i was in love with the best looking girl in the school, three grown up children, and 5 grandkids later shes still the best looking girl in the school...
having trouble deciding which is best the original Doris Trop, Hollies, or my bais towards Linda Rondstadt...which she was so hot in the 70's what a great cover in any case.
@althemainman2474 Met Mr Nash at a gig w/ my old band some years ago-very nice guy. Been singing 'Bus Stop' solo for a while, and learning 'LookThrough Any Window' Might have to learn 'I See The Rain' as well! Great song, that is too. Regards from USA
Saw The Hollies two weeks ago in concert in Basingstoke - they were fabulous - oh my lost youth, and Tony Hicks is still SO CUTE....!!!!
At 71 years young I still get the goose bumps listening to the Hollies.Growing up in England in the 60's was something else.God bless us all.
I bet it was. I missed out. The '60s in the U.S. was also fun, from what I heard.
Just got a CD of The Hollies with another to come. Brings back lovely memories.
Made me weak at the knees when I was 9...and still does.
Allan Clarke is perfection!
The Hollies made some of best pop music of the sixties.
I'm 30 years old...and I love this music;)
Although I was just born by then, it seems the future generations could hardly make such simple and rich kind of music, as if anything that might appeal to good and simple feelings, today, is like a sinful attitude. Those song sound full of rich feelings for those who like to appreciate them.
Thank God I grew up in the sixties .........
The music of the last 25 years stinks. I grew up during that time and I remember it well.
How I wish I could back in time to experience all that!
i grew up listing to this style of music on the old 97.5 kabx in the central valley Califorinia and hey it is a song i lik.
Im 11 years old and Im listening to good music!

I love all of the Hollies songs - plus they were nice to look at!

Great seeing a young Graham Nash playing. Hes now in Crosby, Stills and Nash.
It took just one look and I was hooked for life! I was 9 when I watched this TOPT and I fell in love with Allan and his beautiful face and voice. This was the first record I bought and I still have it. I never got over the crush either! Thank you for this.
Graham Nash, never knew he was a member of the Hollies. He has a great personality and that is what got these guys to the top.
this song makes my eyes wet when I recall that I recorded it on my tape recorder.Who remembers what a GADGET is it? They will be adored for decades to come -- at least as long as JS Bach!
Graham Nash as a teenager! Seriously, Mr. Nash has been around forever and continues to rock. Just the best, that's all.
+NinaPDX1 Thank God, hope he rocks forever.
This is one incredible group.....never really knew them, how long they stayed together and made great music, especially into the 70's......

Ich hörte nie eine Hollies Lied, das ich nicht mochte. Sie waren so gut wie die Beatles.

In honor of Graham Nash's birthday, The Hollies' 1st big UK hit in 1964, "Just One Look", a cover of Doris Troy's song.
Nash was the deserter, wasn' he?
What a beautiful man! They should bottle that smile!
You guyz ROCK!!!!!
That's often all it takes - when you have your act together!
Thank you, Carlos, for your comment and for keeping the oldies alive by listening to them. Bless you and have a great day!
When Alan Clarke and Graham Nash were singing up front, the Hollies were one of the best from the magical 60's.
They are long overdue to be inducted in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
Allan and Graham looks good on this video btw ;) oh they all always look brilliant!
I love him!!!
Yeah I was influenced by him as a drummer which remains with me to this day...

I read they found some in Nigeria, but it will take the BBC a while to go through them all.
Another great song..... Greg Boardman Band
