The needles just really grab and hold those nebs tho...maybe a bottom thin cloud and a nest full of nebs and carefully avoid the nebs when possible ....I washed and lost nebs quite a bit. Maybe glue only answer.
i know Im randomly asking but does anybody know of a way to get back into an instagram account?? I stupidly lost my login password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
@Dorian Crosby i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Your sculpts are amazing. My 1st teaching packet was a sitting fox. I love your fox. Maybe my packet was designed by you...I have a strong desire to take this on as something I can achieve over time
@@PamDuthie are you located in the UK. ? I ask because I'm interested in visiting England. As a child my mother had a friend, she taught me how to dive, Renee...was her name. I've never forgotten her
I really enjoyed your Felting a Miniature Schnauzer!! It was very through and easy to understand. I loved the way you sculpted the dog. I hope I can get back to view all your videos again.
Hello again! That 'long hair' tutorial was really useful - thank you so much!! What is lovely is that you show and demonstrate the differences in the type of 'long hair' application.. super! Thanks again! :o)
I love your creations. I am finishing my first felt needle dog ( a surprise for christmas) I would have loved your opinion on the finished result. I think it look pretty good 😊 I have done art and crafts for years, but I want to try making other dogs. How can I make a dog have a shiny coat, and how would I curl hair for a poodle? Much love, thank you for helping us make special gifts. Dogs are so special to me 🥰🤗🫠
Thank you so much. Aww I would love to see your work, but I think if you are happy with it then it IS good as we are our own worst critics For a shiny dog you could use fibers like silk or silky bamboo - but nothing will be perfect. The other thing is you can add highlights with a little white wool, but that really only looks good from one angle For curly wool I have a couple of vides on that, if you search in my youtube channel page for how to curl wool - or I even have a video for felting a cockapoo (if I remember right) But for the simple version I take the tops/roving and wind it around a skewer, then pour boiling water over it. When it dries the wool stays nice and curly
Thank you very much! You do very fine work and do lovely work. I am proud to learn from you as you have so much talent in this area. I would love to see how you would make a long haired goat, like a mountain goat or sheep with long fleece or a llama or Alpaca, again in its natural state before its shearing when it it has its nice long winter fleece that we love so love so much! Again thank you for being so generous in sharing your hard work and tips and tricks! You are a real doll for being so kind. I only make mine for my family members or friends that see them and ask me for thief fav. Critter but I am really having to increase my knowledge as the spectrum is getting quite. broad!Happy Felting!~Gina
You are too kind :) I am working on making tutorials weekly on a Thursday - there is a playlist of some of them here ua-cam.com/play/PLEafG7qM8xyrx925nH7EiU-DGEOdsMjml.html and on wednesdays Im am reviewing some felting equipment and supplies ua-cam.com/video/iB134fQZ6ZQ/v-deo.html
I will see what I can do :) Im always trying to find the balance as if I make them too slow people drop out early but of course too fast then you cant follow. I might make 2 videos - one a slow tutorial for the people who actually want to see what Im doing and a faster one. Thank you for the feedback
You are a brilliant sculpted! I am a beginner but I love to watch your tutorials!! I need to make a sloth. Is there any way you could do a tutorial for that?

Thanks for the Video , I have a question I am new to felting and have just bought my first lot of felt but it doesn't look like the ( Fleece ) you use it isn't long stranded its more in a ball . Could I ask where you get your fleece or when is a good place to buy it
Hi there. Where do you live in the world? Im in the UK and get most of my fibres from World of Wool or Wingham wool and The Makerss. But basically there are a couple of types of fibres, carded batts the fibres are all over the place and thats good for the core of the object but if you want the long hair effect like this then you usually want something that is called 'Tops' where all the fibres are combed out in the same direction. Some places also call it 'Roving'
Brilliant! Thank you so much... you have a lovely way about you! Is there any chance of doing something to show how to add long hair? I'd like to do a golden retriever for a friend who has a grave illness, and I'm not sure how to go about it!, it would be much appreciated! Xxx
Thank you for your kind words, this video does show some of my methods but I will totally do another one more focused on a dog like that as soon as I get the chance. Sorry to hear about your friend
Thank you for that.... yes, I'm very much a beginner... clueless but keen! I shall look forward to another video. Thank you you for your kindness! All the best! x
Thank you. The dragon got the most votes so Im doing him just now - but the fox was running 2nd so I will have a go at a video for him after the dragon
I'm going to try these methods, I'm terrible at making things with long hair/fur. I tend to stick to tightly felted no fur sculptures.... thank you for this video. do you use different gauge or pattern needles ever??
I know what you mean - for years I avoided doing long hair, I just couldnt get the hang of it - now I love it. It just takes a bit of practise, and adding smaller bits at a time helps make it look more real. I have tried lots of different needles in the past but now just stick to the one for most of the time, a 38 twist needle. I am sure in the future I will have another favorite
oh yeh? I dot have a 38 I have a 40 twist, ill try that and see how I like it, the set of special ones I have has a few different gauges but it came with the regular and ten the 40 twist 36 and 38 star , a reverse I tend to stick with the regular 38 in medium length, I'm working on a birthday gift right now so ill try the twist on this one, Thank you so much,
I notice the strands of your fleece fiber seem to run neatly in the same direction. I'm felting with brushed out acrylic yarn and the fibers go all over the place in the messy ball of fluff I end up with. It's fine fr detailing crochet and making figures but I find it difficult to make fur like this with it. Is there a away around this or do I need a specific kind of material?
For the long fur like this I use 'tops' its the stuff spinners use to spin where the fibres have been all arranged pretty much in the same directions. For brushed/carded stuff it is easier to felt normally with but to make long hair it is harder. There are tools you can use - I will have to look into them. Mainly what I will do for a small amount is take a wide batt of it and hold at either end and very gently pull it so it gets wider, this straightens up some of the fibres. Its not ideal but it helps. I will see if I can do a video of it in the next couple of weeks

For a shiny dog you could use fibers like silk or silky bamboo - but nothing will be perfect. The other thing is you can add highlights with a little white wool, but that really only looks good from one angle
For curly wool I have a couple of vides on that, if you search in my youtube channel page for how to curl wool - or I even have a video for felting a cockapoo (if I remember right) But for the simple version I take the tops/roving and wind it around a skewer, then pour boiling water over it. Hoping to use your plan then adding the details from my sweet pup.

I am in the U.S. the link doesn't quite work for me. Maybe it because it is UK. Goldens do have a unique color.
ISeriously need to know how to add NEBS! Does anyone know???? They stick on my needle or punch tool and holding one at a time with finger nail kinda works but is a lot of trouble really and I’m liable to stab myself.
Oh good question, Ive not used them yet. My thought is if you are using them for texture you could put a thin layer of fleece over them to catch them in place. I will have to get some and have a go at it
Actually I tried that and the fleece felted in and it didn’t keep the effect I was wanting....texture dimension etc....I guess maybe a certain kind of glue that won’t yellow but sort of want to keep it “pure” felting....
Ahh yes thats a pain. I know what you mean about not wanting to use glue. How about to save your fingers pin it in and then carefully felt it?
That would work....pin in all the way down so not impeding the stabbing...
Might eliminate nebs from most “paintings!
Thank you so much. X
You are most welcome
