It can be just platonic, sure, but I'm saying there's romance here, too. We also know Reki sees similar in Langa. (For male+anime only examples) It's like Run With the Wind's Kakeru and Haiji, Given's Mafuyu and Uenoyama, and even YOI's Yuri and Victor.
