  • Marco Polo Club Flyer - Relishing the Air Travel Experience.
    This is Ken and thank you for watching my Flight Review.
    / cxka_ken
    Welcome to my special flight review that relishes two air travel experiences with Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines. It's time for a battle between the two Asian top-tier five-star airlines that are based in the two Asian Financial Centres, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
    In today’s flight review, we would be savoring the 3.5-hour air travel experience onboard Cathay Pacific's A350-900 Business Class and Singapore Airlines' B777-300ER Business Class. You will see the difference in the experience of the two airlines from check in to arrival.
    Hope that my video has fulfilled your “taste buds”, and if it did, I would be happy if you could follow me on my Instagram - cxka_ken for traveling shots. Also, make sure you have left me a like and commented on this video. Share this video with your loved ones and it means a lot to me if you subscribe to my channel.

    Thank you for relishing the air travel experience with me today, may I invite you to join me in savoring our next journey?

    This was a great review, Ken! I liked how much effort you put into making sure the conditions were the same as possible. You highlighted the strong and weak points for each airline. I agree that passengers may have stronger preferences for certain attributes over others, so your guide will help each person make a decision for themselves what is the best airline to pick. I hope you enjoyed both of your flights!

    I commute between SG and HK monthly, if not bi-monthly. Despite physically SG being my hub, I fly CX much more than SQ. Terminal 4 is easier to navigate if you are riding a cab. Cathay has a neat lounge there, compared to the crowded and bland Silverkris and having to do gate security: which is often slow and inefficient. SQ has a better cabin product besides the footwell, but I find CX's food consistently good. I also enjoyed CX's ground service (despite being cold, they are professional), but SQ can suck big time even in Changi (40 min queue for J counters, anyone?). Both airlines are really cutting costs, and I somehow miss the good old time...
    Thank you very much, Ken, for the excellent review!

      Thanks Steven. Interesting to hear from you as you travel so frequently between SG and HK, and your opinions are just so comprehensive. After travelling so many times between the two cities, do you like HKG or SIN more, haha?

    • @StevenYLol
      @StevenYLol Рік тому

      @@MarcoPoloClubFlyer Thanks, Ken, for the reply! Haha, I love SIN and HKG both. SIN is more walkable, and once you figure out always to be the last one at the gate, you will make peace with the gate security. I kind of hate paying out of my pocket (the airport development fee etc.) to finance the butterflies and the rain vortex for the tourists!
      HKG requires a lot more walking, but I enjoyed the lounges and efficient processes in general. It has better transportation to the city centre as well!
      I will probably run into you on one of the SIN-HKG flights! It seems that you shuttle between these two cities pretty often as well.

    Awesome comparrisson, I love how they arent two separate tripreports and a conclusion but rather tripreport in itself. Cathay really needs to do something to stand out, maybe refresh their business class or so, these cabins are beginning to look bland and outdated although being on a brand new aircraft (something that highlights the diverse culture of HK would be great)/

      @MarcoPoloClubFlyer  Рік тому +1

      Hey, thanks for the kind words :) I just can't wait for a new cabin generation for Cathay... hopefully some enclosed suites. And I like your suggestion of getting highlights of the diverse culture of HK - maybe something that reminds us of CX's signature lounges would work :) Fingers crossed...

    I have flown a lot of business class over the years and have transited through Hong Kong and Singapore on more occasions than I care to remember. A decade ago Cathay along with Emirates were the best business class in the sky. About 2016 to 2018 Cathay's entire offering, particularly their service capitulated. At the same time Singapore up until then, a podium placegetter in the best business class in the world upted their game. Singapore an easy winner!

      @MarcoPoloClubFlyer  Рік тому

      Hi Robin, thanks for watching ;) As a Hongkong-er, I have personally always preferred the Hong Kong Airport over the Singapore Airport - probably because I like the natural lights in HKG. But yes, I agree with what you say, CX's meals are less appeal these days. In particular, their breakfast options are quite terrible sometimes :(

    I think they are both great airlines. Singapore Airlines business class is a better product though and more modern! I love this comparison video. Btw Ken your haircut is fire 🥰. Keep up the great content.

      Thanks for returning, and for the kind words again ;) I really didn't like SQ's footwell and I would say CX's bed was just more comfortable in my opinion. But the SQ cabin is definitely more modern and I like the use of brown colour around the cabin. Thanks for watching ;)

    CX out of HKG and SQ out of SIN is a fair way to split your judgement. For one you feel like you're getting a full deal if you fly out of a carrier's hub. For instance, book the cook is not always available for flights to SIN from overseas stations (though it is from HKG).

    To me SQ no doubt . Simply cause CX is going backwards whereas SQ, if not moving ahead is at least consistent. And I’m never a lounge person , I always get to the airport last minute so it’s a no brainer for me.

    • @MarcoPoloClubFlyer
      @MarcoPoloClubFlyer  Рік тому

      Thanks for watching :) My experience on CX has also been consistent over the past few years - but seems like SQ crew are more engaging and friendly. And thanks for subscribing to my channel :p

  • @O._Si

    May I request a comparison of SQ & CX Economy Class?
    Though I found lots of differences between the two in their Business Class, there are no too far apart. In Economy though, SQ crew was consistently professional, but CX crew in Economy was less so.
    With SQ's introduction of paper containers, the food quality, often overcooked and soggy, has fallen below those of the budget airlines.

    SQ's 777 business class seats products are not the same as their A380 seats although the configuration may seem similar.

    Cathay left a bad taste in my mouth when I didn’t get the 15% miles transfer bonus for some reason when I clearly did it within the promotion period (says I need to sign up some form first which I had done previously!). No such issue when doing it for Singapore Airlines transfer promotion. The Cathay support is really really bad, I started contacting them and one year later it still wasn’t concluded properly and their support always keep disconnecting for “some reason” 😂 Complain emails goes unanswered. I’m going to use my remaining miles and it’s then permanently in my blacklistq for me

    There are SQ lounges in SIN T2 too, not only in T3
    And you forgot one important thing: the chance to get a full flat bed on SQ is about 95+ percent, cause they only have a few ex Silk Air birds left. On CX you can end up on a recliner on many regional flights. For me thats a major issue.

    • @MarcoPoloClubFlyer
      @MarcoPoloClubFlyer  Рік тому +1

      Hey Mario, thanks for watching and commenting. Yes, I am aware of that - I was just trying ti say that there's only one consolidated lounge in T3, which is unlike CX with 3 separated lounges in HKG T1. :)
      And what you say makes sense.... back in late 2022, most of the CX regional jets were in storage... But now, they are eventually back in service, and one of my upcoming flights got an equipment swap and I am now stuck with the recliners :(

    • @Mario-ch9nl
      @Mario-ch9nl Рік тому +1

      @@MarcoPoloClubFlyer actually there are 4 lounges in T3: silver kris, kf golden, first and private room. The way from the lounges to the last gate in A or B is not more than 10min (take the train).
      Ways in HKG can be much longer, so you need separate lounges
      Last year I went by the 737-8 with full flat in business, very nice on a short flight
