This video is about Ghoradeshwar Temple of Pune. In this video u will get detailed information about temple and Ghoradeshwar caves. The Ghoradeshwar caves/Ghorawadi caves/Shelarwadi caves are around 30 kms northwest of Pune, were originally Buddhist caves and now contain carvings and statues of Buddhist and Hindu deities. The caves are carved out of a single rock formation around 3rd to 4 th century CE.
There are nine rooms for meditation adjoining the Chaityagriha. The Chaityagriha is also known as Shri Ghoradeshwar Temple. The caves are situated at the top of a hill. One of the caves contain representation of dieties including Lord Vitthal, Rakhumai and Saint Tukaram. It is said that Saint Tukaram used to meditate at Ghorawadi caves
A large cave contains a representation of Shivlinga that is visited mostly during Mahashivratri by people seeking blessings of God Shiva.
Few years back a group of city-based researchers has discovered an exposed Lava cave on this Hill. Ghoradeshwar already has Buddhist sculpted caves carved in lava flow channels.
