Skunk Ape By 2030 most people will prefer to drive electric cars anyway.
anti chuckle yeah i know and i like electric cars and i think they we should stray moore towards electric (which we do) but i think banning gas and disel is unessacry. It will be phased out on its own plus if ban fossil fuel then we destroy a lot of history.
Great way to control the people bike or nothing forcing people to be in a centralized location and easy to round up.

The road tax on bio fuel is baloney. EV owners are not paying road tax on electricity, yet...Not fair..
Considering EVs are heavier on four wheels than most half ton pickup trucks, it really isnt fair.
If enough EVs get rolling the free or cheap ride on keeping them charged will have to end. Trudeau or whoever will need to replace all the taxes collected on fossil fuels. It won't be pretty when all the Teslas get huge hydro tax bills..lol
let them do an emmision test on the exhaust gasses of powerstations making the electricity to power those vehicles , they will fail dramaticly
they are paying tax, or atleast in some state in the usa. www.ncsl.org/research/energy/new-fees-on-hybrid-and-electric-vehicles.aspx
Hey thanks, Im the one that asked you about the temp sticker on your truck haha. Don't feel bad about trying to get around the system, Ive had my own emission problems in the past and it was a pain in the ass. I agree with emission testing on cars because it has gottem a lot of junkers off the road. Im so happy emission testing is gone though!!
I was told, any diesel vehicle over 4500kg needs a heavy duty e test. In ontario.
So when you register your F350, make sure you write down 4490kg. :)
Problem is you then can't haul anything with it. They are also going by what the gross-weight is on your door sticker.
hardhittrr good luck with “telling” them what the weight of your vehicle is. The only way they will change what is on your ownership (registered from the manufacturer when it was built) is with a print-out from a government certified weigh scale (ie: your local municipal transfer station).
@@1oldskoolluvr No, you are misunderstood. I wasnt referring to the vehicles curb weight.
Thank you for condemning rolling coal.
Especially with a turbo, you are literally in principal asking a turbojet engine to perform afterburner light-off even though it does not have afterburner. Hence why people doing this have turbo failure so often.
@@Billhatestheinternet It literally does no good, to the people rolling coal they are destroying their engines, and to the people that breathe.
I heard the VW diesels actually ran more fuel efficient and put out less [actually harmful vs bureaucratic test] emissions using the non test computer profiles.
Rich, my car was a dealer buyback because of the emissions lawsuit, it didn't get crushed. They reprogrammed the ECM and resold these vehicles.
There's thousands of them still to this day parked in a lot a couple miles from my house rotting away.
Any car with 100k got crushed. Condition has do with it. It is sad cause it probably caused more emissions to make the car.
All the wasted energy going into making the vehicles never going to get that back.
At least some of them are stored at the old Mitsubishi (now owned by Rivian) plant in Normal, IL. I heard some were at the Pontiac Silverdome. I think some have recently left the Normal location.
For your viewers here in the states there are some varying rules in regards to bio diesel. For instance here in Texas (if I read this correctly) there are actually tax incentives to use Bio diesel straight up or blended (the blend specifics have to be declared, etc.). This may only be viable to fleet or commercial vehicles. Here in texas our yearly registration and vehicle inspections are the costs that maintain our roads. (although in some areas I have my doubts in regards to some of the lunar scapes ive driven on.)
Quick note on the VWs- they didn’t crush all of them, I bought one used from a dealership which updated the car for emissions.
Yep, still have the A3 diesel. Lease up in May, buy out $30k, retail value $20k - $23k. Audi can have it back. I asked the dealer what happens to the returns. He told me they ALL get shipped overseas and sold there. Getting, crushed not likely.
what is the big stink about,,vw,,,back in 1970s,chev,s corvette went for emissions, with a low idle, smaller carb, changed timing, ect, just to get thru,,then,,all this was changed back to std...ALL CAR COMPANIES DO IT,THEY JUST GOT COUGHT.!!!.
@@phantomwalker8251 because some EPA schmucks got their panties in a twist since they were outsmarted by a computer programmer. Before the reflash, if dynoed for an emissions test, the ECU would enter a low power test mode designed to pass the NOx testing that emissions required states do. I'm not defending VW for what they did, but I do find it hilarious it took the EPA 9 years to find out. SCR systems have only been a requirement, since EPA regulation 2010.

Diesel in the states is vastly more expensive than gasoline; well anything under 93, lol
I remember when it was way cheaper. Maybe 20yrs ago or so. Never drove a diesel so I was never really looking at it.
It isn't cheaper everywhere in Canada. I live in Alberta and the diesel here is usually 15-25c more than 87 octane gas per litre

I want to get into making diesel out of the oil based plastics. Well I'll vaporize it back to oil, run that oil, then convert that into deisel.
I'm super excited to see how to make bio diesel aswell. Keep them comming please.
You should look into buying vegetable oils in bulk rather than screwing around with plastics. It's a lot easier, and you'll produce better quality fuel. You have to save a lot in fuel to pay for replacement pumps and injectors.
@@fascistpedant758 o very true and I do intend to do that aswell. I want to help try and figure out what we can do with all this plastic waste aswell though.
Interesting episode and wow that nest was quite large.
In Texas, safety inspections is possibly getting repealed in 2021 and the law will go into effect by Jan 2022 if passed and signed by Governor Greg Abbot. Emissions will not be repealed but the good news is that emissions testing is only in certain parts of the State of Texas.
@deboss garage
If you ever need a better water/solids separator for that bio diesel set up, I did centrifuge repair in the past and may be able to find you a deal on a little one.
Here in the once great state of California, it is getting harder and harder to do anything. There still are many manufacturers that spend the $$$ for the lovely EO# testing so we can modify our vehicles, but we still have to pass a smog every 2 years on vehicles that are 5 years or older (I think is the cut off)
We do have a bill to move the smog exempt year from 75 to mid 80's.... We too can also register a vehicle if we can show residency in a county that has no smog due to population.... My plan is to purchase a small couple acre lot to eventually build a cabin on and register my vehicles there.. other than that its not passing smog cause I changed the air filter
In our county in southern ON we've never had E-test.. and we also ran bio diesel for years and never paid any type of tax LOL
We've been doing something like this in Wisconsin for years. Milwaukee county and any county that borders it have to have emissions test. So, the state decides who to test by you telling them on your registration what county you keep the vehicle in. All you have to do is say "yes I live in Milwaukee but I keep the truck in Adams county" or whatever county up north. They never ask you to provide an address up north and they mail your registration right to your Milwaukee address lol
25yrs and old vehicles are exempt here, just have to get a safety inspection. My fleet seems to all be going to 25yrs and older vehicles for some reason.
totally agree

I have an edge evolution tuner on my 97 7.3. It does smoke a bit running a tune. I am looking into fixing oil leaks with a new turbo/upgrade. I agree i dont like rolling coal hardcore like some people do. A little bit i like
Here in Denver colorado area. we get to waste 25 bucks a year for an emission tests that do NOTHING useful except profit the people who own the testing stations.
I am looking forward to getting an audi v6 tdi for my 99 tacoma. Washington is getting rid of emissions next year, but I will still probably move out of state to a less populated area to get away from it. I probably dont have much to worry about because of all the crap that is still somehow on the roads despite our emissions, but the less I have to deal with the better.
Enjoy watching your videos.
The government sucks. I live in Missouri and they are trying to get rid of inspections. Fully support this.
Here in Alberta we don't have any emissions test. I'm confused with the current government that they canceled the emissions test.
Do I smell Bio Diesel conversations in the future of Deboss Garage?
Annoyingly diesel is more expensive in Alberta for the past few years. Used to be always so cheap.
Edit: After listening to the rest of the video I'm so glad I don't live in Ontario anymore :)
Have you looked t a 2 tank conversion and running of straight veg just run it through some filters and pour it in the tank
What about the "hotrod law". Worked here in Ottawa. Any engine swapped vehicle is a "hot rod" and they green light you for a sniff test
I actually just bought back another '12 jetta TDI after VW bought me out of mine. If you guys are looking at buying one of them (They are still available VW certified and "fixed"), I highly recommend buying a '12 because they have no DEF system and only require a flash to be back to running like before. Of course this voids the warranty and may be illegal where you are.
Cool video Deboss
Here in Australia, there are different laws in each state, probably as you have.
Once a vehicle is registered in my state and stays registered, there are no inspections at all. But a policeman can put a sticker on your car requiring you get it inspected within say a month if he sees problems, and if it's bad enough he can require it to not be driven at all, requiring towing. But generally if you don't hoon or drive a complete piece of junk, you're ok.
I have a '97 Nissan Patrol 4x4 wagon, which came with a 4.2 litre normally aspirated 6 cyl diesel. There were other engine options.
But normally aspirated these things are SLOW. Mine, like a lot of them, has been turbocharged by a previous owner. It only develops about 10psi boost, but that's enough to make it decent. Later versions of this motor in later models of Patrol came standard with a turbo, but these things are commercial truck motors and built to last. Some people wind them up to 30-40psi but I like the reliability and power level I've got.
We can make a small amount of bio Diesel before tax in the uk.
Also some of our Wagons (trucks) are running Natural Gas) in the uk.
Here in Houston we have emissions testing on gas vehicles only. So my 01 cummins swapped suburban has safety only inspections. If they change that I will pack up and move to Wyoming without regret. I refuse to live in a total government controlled area. Texas already has me planning on moving in a few years. This once great state is getting worse every year. Especially the cities in Texas. The weather kinda sucks too honestly.
Almost thought you forgot that thing was in your yard! Lol
When are you going to get this up and running? All time highs at the pumps
Here in the states you cant run the bio fuel in your car/truck because of the tax same as there. But people still do. In my area, Los Angeles, if a cop smells french fries while following you they can pull you over, dip your tank and if you have bio fuel they can impound your vehicle. In Ag areas they will dip your tank and if the fuel is red they will impound your vehicle because you are burning Farm fuel that has no road tax paid on it. I was working on a tour where the state of Texas impounded all the trucks and buses because they were running bio fuel in them and had a tanker following us and filling as needed. Its all just bureaucratic B.S.
Crazy. I know they dipped tanks in parking lots here looking for pink fuel but I don't think the cops know what they are looking at following you

I'm about 3 hours west of the Sault, and I run my gas burners on home made ethanol and the E85. I have to drive 3 hours south to Wisconsin to get E85 in 55 gallon drums. They don't sell any in the entire UP. I've been doing this since 2007, and now build my engines to take advantage of ethanol fuel buy raising the compression far above what pump gas can handle. My daily driver 455 has 11.3:1 with iron heads right now, pump gas will knock the rod bearings out in less than an hour. Care to ask how I know that? Also have another set of iron heads that makes right at 13:1, and the power they make is very impressive along with the mileage. Maple trees can provide a surprising amount of fuel, but yeah the syrup is worth A LOT more than making fuel. I drive more than I eat pancakes and waffles, so my trees power my GTOs. Also used cattails to make fuel for a while, because those things are everywhere, make lots of fuel, and you can't kill them easily.
My project has focused on making lots of power and increasing mileage, and maximizing both of those on ethanol means it will not run on gasoline at all. Lots of compression, lots of heat, as much advance as the engine wants, and my relatively low rpm grunt torque monster Pontiac V8s are perfectly suited for this sort of thing. I can make anywhere from 7:1 to 13:1 compression with a stock head swap. Once you try this stuff in an engine that can utilize the fuel effectively, you don't want to go back.
I don't own any diesels yet, but have been working on picking up a mid 80s roll back GMC. Its hard to get the cooking oil around here now, everyone has a contract to dispose of it. Fuel prices are climbing, and our governor wants to up the tax another 45 cents to cover all the social programs she wants to implement fort the people in Detroit. So if she does that, I am either moving or ramping up my production of my own fuel. Lucky for me Michigan tax is on fuel "sold" for use on the road, and does not mention fuel "produced" needing to be taxed. That means I can make it myself and do what I want with it as long as I follow the BATF rules regarding it, and have the free permit they give us. I am rather certain you guys are not allowed to set up a moonshine still and make fuel for your cars, but we are. Don't get caught drinking or selling it to drink though, that is a massive fine at the very least.
You guys in Ontario have any E85 stations? None here on the rock
So glad we dont have emissions testing here. As long as u can put insurance on it and register it u can drive it. Although u do see some cars that look unsafe to be on the road normally from rusting out.
you are a truely impressive person
brakekleen works amazing on wasps
In California we have it backwards and its completely bonkers, IMO. If your vehicle is over a certain weight (6000 pounds I think) it is exempt from smog testing, you just get a sticker every year in the mail, but if your vehicle is under that weight, like all passenger cars you have to pass the world's most stringent emission test. So that TDI Jetta with with a space age particulate filter will need to be tested while the cat-less coal-rollin' bro-dozer and the 30 year old school bus can keep suffocating drivers that drive behind them.
I think it's time for a follow up to this due to the state of gas and diesel prices right now.
That was not a wasp nest - that was a freaking wasp hotel.
in Washington state they are stopping emissions testing next year 2020
So what ratio of WMO to diesel do I do cuz I’ve got some from my 7.3 is 25% diesel to 75% oil good. Or is WVO just better.
Nice little talk. Been wanting to get a diesel for a while. The savings definitely are a big plus for me.
@Dobbies Revenge New diesel will get better mileage simply from the added torque. Gas is expensive to fix too, ever bought and replaced a transmission when one gave up? If you care for your machines they will take care of you.
America is also the land of the FEE. We're never free.
lol love all the loop holes you had to go for you cummins conversion .... should have replaced the 6.0 with an 6.6 LLY duramax would have passed emission as well as an plug and play system, or still could have went with the ZF6 manual trans ( was still an option in 05)... later on could went to efi for the egr cooler delete an also have an exhaust brake ( LLY and up had an vg turbo)
The emissions crap is nuts down here in Cali.We need cleaner runnin' vehicles but they get carried away.
They may have crushed the Volkswagens in Canada, but I work for a dealer auction here in the states and our lot has about 2500 of them at all times of the ones redone by Volkswagen, the market is over saturated by them right now
Any updates on this bio diesel processor?
Hornets ... That was a Hornets nest lmao .
the only thing i've heard about biodiesel is filter , filter , filter. also the organic matter is an issue, can you add small amounts of methanol to diesel to kill organic matter without hurting the engine??
Thats so crap that canada basically outlaws petrol to diesel swaps after a certain year... In the uk its just a yearly safety check, which includes an emissions test that has set ranges by engine year.
You think that's a money grab? Here in MN they put in all those testing facilities in with full wheel dynos only to remove them a couple of years later. It's now been 20+ years since we've had testing.
if the gov is going to do emissions tests at all it should be a sniffer that reads parts per million per mile on a dyno that simulates road load. it makes no sense to test any other way. that way you can always swap in a more efficient power plant in the future.
Man the wasp nest in Oklahoma are so much smaller...
No emission test on diesel here but on gas cars you have to.Glad us racers have friends in the right places to get passed it
I've known guys that just buy red diesel then filter through a cat litter "filter" to remove the dye.
Back when I worked in a European auto shop, I saved any halfway clean engine oil and ATF we changed. My tired ole clapped out 82' 300SD Benz with the venerable old OM617 ran just fine on a 50/50 mix of pump diesel and oil. ATF by itself could be ran at a higher percentage. This tired old all-mechanical diesel didn't care and ran great on it, wouldn't even think about it on a newer diesel or anything nice or anything you really cared about. Fuel filters don't last as long and the exhaust was odd smelling but hey, free fuel. Legality wise, I don't have a problem sticking it to the man once in a while, lord knows he steals plenty from his citizenry as it is. Nice having a fully mechanical diesel around, as long as you can crank it over, it will run on about anything oily.
Have you looked into making what is called Black Diesel. Just another alternative fuel source for older diesels.
I have a Biodiesal processor but never used it for the same reason, price of fuel went down. Same 2000 5.9 & TDI, 1990 Massey tractor, 1987 Kubota mower, I think 5% Biodiesal in the fuel in Ohio so the lubricity is not a problem!
So how hard is it to convert a gas to Diesel on the ownership ?
So one way to look at it is if you are running less than 50% biodiesel in your vehicle then it is a fuel additive (for lubricity) which does not require road tax. None of the manufacturers of fuel additives pay road tax nor do you when you buy one at Can Tire or an auto parts store. I made and used Bio for 15Yrs in probably a dozen vehicles mostly older Mercedes and VWs but also 2003 Cummins. The thing which prohibits the use of Bio in a vehicle is a DPF. Since it does not burn off the same as regular diesel inside the DPF cannister it plugs it up. So newer vehicles than about 2007 ish which have a DPF system cannot use BIO , unless their DPF magically disappears and a programmer which has a DPF delete setting is used. The DPF cycle also injects fuel into the cylinder which is supposed to enter the DPF and burn off however it does not burn off and instead washes down the cylinder walls and into the oil pan, this dilutes the oil with bio which is not good and results in the oil level creeping up and the lubricating quality decreases, requiring you to drain oil out of the pan and probably do premature oil change intervals. Short and long vehicles before 2004 probably OK , after that probably going to need to delete DPF completely.
My Father use to make his own bio diesel back in 2012~ when it was $4+ usd a gallon. Smelt like mcdonalds everywhere we went lol. Got very large tubs of used cooking oil for free since the restaurants didnt want to pay to dispose of it

Well he is doing something we still get screwed every time we turn around
That's still pretty expensive fuel, I'd get 600miles (circa 1000km) for 80euro. It's about 1.30 per litre of diesel. But bio is very cheap as you can get the used oil for free. Well said at the end, 👍
I'd love to see a video on bio. I live less then 10 mins from you. And drive a vw tdi alh and I'm looking to make my own fuel
You should just google it. It's simple to make with very little equipment. Of course you could use heating oil and save the ~40% taxes on fuel, just don't get caught. The ALH will even run on straight vegetable oil, but with reduced power and a shorter pump life.
Totally agree about Drive Clean. I am so happy that Drive Clean is dead! So much lost productivity worrying about that stupid test. I have a 1982 GMC 7000 with a gas 360, heavy duty so even though it's so old it needed to pass the test every year. I ended up purchasing my own exhaust gas analyzer. With the engine tuned to factory specs it was impossible to pass. The trick was to tune to factory specs, then pump up the idle RPM to 1100, 1200 RPM was the max allowed by the Drive Clean test. Runs 'cleaner' by burning 2x the fuel.
Growing plants and making oil? That's no diesel, that's CBD oil ;o)
You forgot to mention that in the end the Ontario government “covered” the cost of the E-Test.
I hope you like being unbelievably sticky! Polymerised veg oil is one of the nastiest things I've ever worked with, which is saying something. I did, however, quite enjoy the frisson of danger when the pipes joining the tanks started making static... There's nothing like the smell of methanol and the feeling of a static spark jumping to your hand to get your attention
There's nothing quite like having a good, old-fashioned "BLEVE-Bomb" in your backyard... Doesn't that just give you the warm-fuzzies? lol It may take a bit to get diesel going, but once it goes, it *really* goes. Standard diesel contains almost 160% more BTUs/liter than Gasoline. Biodiesels will vary off that figure, obviously, but they're still something to be wary of.
I personally would never use a plastic setup. You could try and ground it, but it would do you no good. That's on top of all the nasty things Methanol does to most plastics. Oils and fuels are already pretty tough on plastics as it is. Then again, I would never build such a thing on my property regardless, so it is what it is lol. The smell of rancid cooking oil doesn't exactly get me going.
carbon tax :( however i get 20L / 100kms on a 6.7 1ton. enjoy watching you're videos . you ever run motor oil in fuel tank??

How is canola oil for bio diesel?
safety inspections are far more important than emissios. In wisconsin you wouldnt belive the piles that pass emissions but are falling apart and are still legal.
gas over here in the netherlands is 2.50 canadian per liter
diesel is 2.22 canadian
about half of that is taxes (they have a taxprice per liter thats allways the same the rest is the purchase price of the fuel itself and the profit for the gasstation) , we dont have a lot of manned gasstations anymore just so they can keep selling the stuff at a profit
on top of that we pay roadtax by weight of the car or truck , a small size car like an azian car is about 200 canadian per 2 months even if its sitting on public roads , if its insured and registered you need to pay or get fined
commercial users pays less if they can prove they need the truck for there line of work , they cant use the same truck to go shopping on sunday
the goverment gotten smart about missing the taxmoney from people making their own fuel too : rapeseed oil sunflowerseed oil and every other oil you can burn as diesel gotten raised in price per liter along with the diesel fuel and used chipfat from say a fast food place needs to be hauled off by a certified company , the fastfood place needs to keep a record of the purchase and the collection or they loose their licence , just so the goverment get there tax on the fuel
My primary issue was the latest Drive Clean emission tests in Ontario checked the working order of the engine by checking for codes set by the onboard computers. The tests did not check actual emissions coming out of the tailpipe.
I knew a friend who brewed his own biodiesel and got raided as they thought it was a meth lab. The 55g steel barrels, elevated conical mixing tank, and glassware I'll admit to the untrained eye would look suspicious.
I almost got arrested a couple times making biodiesel and corn gas. they thought the corn gas was moonshine, drink it if you dare. this wasnt the E85 you buy at the stations, more like E200? lol But over 11-12 yrs i saved a ton of $ making my own fuels, even after paying uncle scam.
This is something I was wondering about strongly considering swapping a Diesel into my Camaro to save a considerable amount on fuel, however the "legality" of the conversion is debatable. It's going to produce less emissions, but since the vehicle has to be registered in certain states as a 5.0 liter gas V8, they're not gonna have the option of listing it as a Diesel, was never offered with one. Add biofuel to the mix and hydrogen production on demand, the so called "free country" police will look at your car nice and funny at any impound lot they desire.
They're supposedly going to bring ECU checks in to our annual test in the UK in a few years, not so much for fault codes but for the software installed! Well they know where they can shove their OBD2 plugs!
