@@historyforhumans905 The Jungle documented only extreme cases that were definitely not the norm. Women were only banned from voting in Democrat-controlled states. Republican states allowed women to vote. Democrats voted against women's universal suffrage nearly every single year for 50 years. The Tweed gang were Democrats. The 80-hour work week was only relegated to very low skill labor, primarily immigrants which were brought in by Democrats only for votes and cheap labor. You buy into the Democrat myth that workers have zero negotiating power for hours and wages, and only a benevolent Democrat-led government can save you. Unlike the current massively corrupt administration, the Tweed ring never successfully managed to control the presidency.
