O my, that was so inspiring What a gift you have . I practice up to 5 hours a day, and still have not made much progress, but now after watching this video , I think I know why , I have been changing strings many times trying to get, that lovely sound , how wrong have I been , so now I will follow you lead, If I shut my eyes and listen to you play, this must be, the sound that GOD wanted us to hear , have a wonderful day , from Murray down here in NewZealand
I am so happy to hear that this video has inspired you to work on your playing! With dedication and the right approach, you can reach your musical goals! :)
Keeping the finger shape is such a helpful tip! That makes so much sense! My pinky turns inward and so I have been struggling. I have looked at other videos but have never heard it taught in other videos; so good! However, I would have loved to be able to see the left side of your violin so as to see where your thumb rests on and in relationship with your other fingers and also when you switch to each of the four strings. Thanks for such an informative video! You are a wonderful teacher!
I've just begun your upload but already I identify with you. I am a B/Music graduate of Sydney Conservatorium in Classical Guitar Performance and took up the violin, as a second instrument, about 30 years ago. I 'FEEL' the timbre or the 'heart beat' of the note(whatever you want to call it), not just hear the note, and at 1.20 that's where I really 'hear' what you are imparting to us - NOT just teaching us, and I can't wait for the next 30 mins. Finishing the upload I feel that you are sent to impart your knowledge to those us even past 1st post,. I so I very much enjoyed your wisdom. As already said, I'm a new subscriber, to a new imparter of knowledge of the violin. Thank you, - Mark, from Australia.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and words! Also, welcome to my channel! So happy to hear that this video resonated with you! Happy practicing! :)
this is the first video i have seen among yours...very well done, i like your approach and your explanations. Sure i will see also your other videos. thanks a lot for sharing
I’m off to practice this technique and super tips . My goal is to play those scales in tune and faster . 3rd finger tip is great and makes total sense .
Thank you!! I started using your tips and they have really worked. I used to start by finding the tuning by the B on the A string, but I had trouble finding the E. Now, using the finger "family" method, it become simpler ^^ Great video!!
Glad to hear that this was helpful! If you can, it would be beneficial to go all the way. Not in one practice session but divide in a few sessions or in a few days!

Brilliant video, thanks for the content. Do you recomend going all the way through the Schradieck exercises ??
Glad to hear that this was helpful! If you can, it would be beneficial to go all the way. Not in one practice session but divide in a few sessions or in a few days!
I have three fingers on each hand but that is good advise
as my school orchestra teacher once told us.. "hearing and listening are not the same thing. do you know the difference?"
Yes, I agree. Listening requires more of really paying attention to the sound you hear.
I had to learn 1 3;2 4 position how long would you say to practice daily
Well depends on your dedication level and schedule! If you practice effectively with focus, you'll feel like time flies!
