Can you transfer files from ipad to usb ? I only see from usb to ipad but not the other way
when you wanna connect your microphone to iphone, the genuine one from Apple is the best, the cheaper one works ok for file transfer but adds tons of noise when doing audio related, I first bought a cheaper one from Amazon and have struggled with the huge noise I got, after I bought the genuine one from Apple, all the noise is gone!
You can obviously import videos but, do this for example: Import videos from camera to iPad Pro, work on the video on iMovie then export from the iPad Pro the edited video to an external USB, hence going back to extra free space on the iPad? (Sorry for the loooooong question lol)
That's now possible with iPad OS!

Is this device only for transferring photos? I am looking for a way to connect a portable monitor to my iPhone and it appears that Apple has taken away support for the lightning to HDMI adapter in the newest iOSes (since 16.2). At least that's what people have been saying. It is my understanding that the reason most lightning to USB-C cables won't work is because they are not USB -C 3, only 2 or lower, and are intended to charging, not data transfer, so this is why they won't work for connecting a monitor to an iPhone. However, since the device you show IS USB-C 3, it seems logical that it might work.

+yahya almaliki (lingobingow) You could plug in a hard drive but it'll only be able to take pictures or videos off of it, the iPad Pro software can't detect any other type of file.

You can not use the mouse and not to transfer data and nothing useful, you can only transfer images and video blindly from the camera without the ability to preview to enlarge images and you can not transfer images and video to the camera from the contrary, can be connected to the consoles and some keyboards Music. You can not easily transfer data to an external hard disk and does not support any format outside of Apple. Therefore, you can not organize your files as any practical system that facilitates data transfer, but there are some special products that do some tasks in a primitive, cumbersome and expensive way.
I still struggle to believe it took Apple this long to work out this was needed.

I use this adapter for my headphone DAC / AMP. It's great because I can also charge my iPod while playing my music through the DAC / AMP connected via USB.
Kiddomike I just got an amp/ DAC combo and although the audio functions for playback work the volume control on my iPhone disappears & I have to control audio directly from the amp. I thought I had a broken adapter but a phone call to the manufacturer revealed that at least their internal DAC didn’t allow for volume function via whatever audio device you’re using. That SUCKS!!!! Was wondering how you got around that or if you had the same issue???

Nope, Apple couldn't help me either, they said to transfer to my mac and then to my iPhone.. The only time it worked was when I restored my iPhone and registered as new, but then I transferred my backup and the problem continued.. Im still holding on to the cable, hopefully someone will come up with a solution eventually, good luck!

According to specs, it will charge and power both with the iPad Pro charger, which has higher wattage than the standard wall adapter that comes with other apple devices. Otherwise, it seems that it will only power the USB device. Don't have it yet, can't say for certain.
So this wont work for my Ipad Air 2?

Alessio Acri the lightning port can’t provide enough power to power more powerful storage like a usb 3 thumb drive or hard drive. I’m unsure if USB 2 thumb drives can be used without power but I do think so. Could you update me if you've tried?

Sounds nice and good but wait. USB 3 kit 50€ and the USB 2 kit 30€. Man for 80 bugs I get a very good 2 channel USB interface with v48 phantom and a USB HUB. But that's apple right ? 😩
