Thanks Mike, its a case of needs-must as no manufacturer is making one in N. Dapol are doing OO for now. I also want 185s. These two are part of Piccadilly's back bone.
Hi John. I think you're mental for taking this on, but I totally admire the steps you take to problem solve/improve the model. Watched for years. Hiw modelling technology has improved your ability to take on these tasks. Good on you.
Thank you, I think lol. Bottom line is that I want 323s and 185s on the layout, they seem to be the back bone (with 150s) of local services. No- one makes them. So why not?
Dear John, great vid, awesome project on your 323. Love the way you showed your different design steps and versions. With some slight modifications it will become an excellent N gauge model of the 323. Cheerio
Thank you Vincent, it will be lovely if I can make the trains lacking at Piccadilly. I not only need 323s but 185s, 195s and the Nova 2s. Time will tell if it's possible
Absolutely, with rising prices and a limited N gauge range, think many people will be experimenting and pushing the boundries of what 3d printing can do.
WOW! Looking good. While you said this wasn't a leaching vidio but you did show me some things I can do in TinkerCad I was wondering about. As always thanks for sharing😊
Thank you, glad you found it helpful. If there is anything you’re not sure of, just say I do my best to help you. I’m not an expert by any means , but had 2 years experience building 3d digital models.
Hiya John . Wow what a project !!!!! looking good so far . and one i will be watching with great interest . Your EP1 does not too far off the prototype and actually captures the look very well . when i have been on the 323's at certain stations they do sit a little bit back from the platform edges including Manchester piccadilly .
Ok thank you, good to know. I am however working on another carriage 1mm wider and taller. The mill is the main project so I may rest it for a while have another go another time.
That was very interesting John. It does make one realise how much detailed work is required to make a model and what an iterative process it is. It looked good already once you had by the platform so will be interested to see the final version. Stephen
Thanks Stephen, thatll probably be a while. See how it goes. If I can crack the design quicker, you never know. I do know a manufacturer wont be making one any time soon. :(
Absolutely fantastic John ! Just goes to show what you can do when you have the right tools at your disposal. Version 1 looked the part when it was sitting alongside the platform 😊.
Top tip for the redundant 170 bodies: You can potentially relivery them into the old FTPE, EMR or new Northern livery so they can still be used on the layout.
Yes, although Dapol have announced a OO gauge version in many liveries, sadly not N. Mine will be done and running this year sometime. www.dapol.co.uk/blogs/news/oo-gauge-class-323-emu
Hi John but ive not got a 3d printer 😂😂😂😂 ...to the naughty corner I'm on my way. Its amazing what you can do though will the technology that's available. Once you've got the proper transfers on it'll look brilliant as always. Cheers Andy
Absolutely Andy, I’m looking at getting another printer to have two on the go. The quality has improved amazingly and price has stayed the same as my first. If you change your mind I’m happy to help.
Hi I will but I’m not there yet. Having said that the farish bogies seemed very sure footed, MAY not need it in the two driving cars. The middle coach is where the motor will be. You saw the 170, no weight in this dummy unit.
Wow John sitting in the station that looks great . It shows what can now be done with 3D printing and makes you not reliable on the RTR models. I would like Class 700 but no RTR , there are body shells only on Ebay but they are £200 for 4 coaches . Cheers Kev
Thanks Kev, I honestly think 3d printing, laser cutting or cutting machines etc etc are the way to go. With Hattons going, no more Warley etc, what's next? There is a huge amount of uncertainty brewing and manufacturers maybe are cautious about creating many new models (esp in N gauge). I dont think models like 700 series inc new Lizzy line trains, 185s, etc etc are on the cards any time soon. Even if one is announced itll be a couple of years at least. 3d printers are around £250-270 ish mark, filament is around £25 ish for 303m around 6p ish per metre. The ebay body shells are real rip off they would probably cost around £2-3 to produce, no competition charge what they like, no quality control either. Kev you got me started, lol
Very interesting video John. I admire your patience and perseverance in all your modelling. This was just on another level! Thanks for sharing. Roy.
Really interesting, Mr. Warner-Farish! Regards, Stephen. 😊
Wow indeed John, what a great video and start to your 323 project. Really enjoyed watching it. Susannah
Bless you thanks, still a way to go. Itll be good if I can get it to work. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Great work John, keep up the hard work as each version will get better. Looking forward to seeing it’s progress.
Thank you, next update will be in a while few weeks at least.
Looking good John. You have many skills. What could be better than building your own trains.
Thanks Mike, its a case of needs-must as no manufacturer is making one in N. Dapol are doing OO for now. I also want 185s. These two are part of Piccadilly's back bone.

Amazing work, John! Looking forward to seeing your next update.
Many thanks, glad you like it. Probably be a few weeks before the next.
Wow John your video really does show what can be accomplished with a 3D printer great work.
Absolutely, with rising prices and a limited N gauge range, think many people will be experimenting and pushing the boundries of what 3d printing can do.
Brilliant, John. You're taking modelling to a new level!
Its needs-must Dave, no-one is going to produce a 323 nor 185 in N gauge anytime soon, lol.

Bless you Euan thank you, next to the class 150 its looked tiny bit small. I used the 170 for reference, maybe a mistake lol
Top tip for the redundant 170 bodies:
You can potentially relivery them into the old FTPE, EMR or new Northern livery so they can still be used on the layout.
Absolutely. I was thinking of turning them into a drag train, maybe relivery them: northern or EMR, both run into Piccadilly
Wow, my favourite train
Nice
I wish Hornby or Bachmann made one of these
Yes, although Dapol have announced a OO gauge version in many liveries, sadly not N. Mine will be done and running this year sometime.

@@piccadillymodelrailways yes I had remembered that before posting this comment actually XD
Great job John, admire the effort, will have to have a go with Affinity designer myself to create svg files for tinkercad.
Thank you, I appreciate that. Afinity Designer/ Publisher / Photo are available on PC and ipad, the latter being £19 ish much cheaper than PC version.
@@piccadillymodelrailways I use Affinity photo a lot on PC for my transfers and building posters. Nice package.

Brilliant! May I ask if you need to add weight to the wheel chassis to aid in non derailments?

You have fully embraced the new technology and showing what can be achieved. The Mill being an example of using multi skills . 👍🏾
Would you be able to post the STL files? Very interested in making this beautiful train
Hi, the train is no where at that stage just yet, sorry.
@@piccadillymodelrailways Maybe I could Help; I've made a lots models on Tinkercad
Thank you for the offer, Id rather sort it myself.
