i never got to meet eyedea, but i feel like ive lost a close friend, i suppose it just shows how much his music has touched everyone, and the insperation he has given me and others. and the fact then when you listen to his songs, its just him. no autotune, no random words, everything has a meaning behind it so i feel like i knew him Eyedea's never die
thats right hes a real mc not a corporate rapper like kanye, ross, or lil wendy(wayne). he wrote to release what he felt and it gave us an opportunity to listen to him. not for the money. I never met eyedea but i too feel that he IS an amazing human being...he was able to put how he felt on cd for all to hear for the rest of eternity, that was his mission not to get rich or live a "happy" life. he did what he felt and didnt let others tell him how to run his life, i respect that.
@glass509 I never thought I would be talking about eyedea in the past tense, kills me everyday too. Atleast he had hip hop to show the world how intelligent and incredible of a person he was. Hard to try and put in words what his music will always mean to all of you and myself.Everything I couldnt find the words for, he did . R.I.P Eyedea
@glass509 exactly. If Eyedea wanted to be on MTV and radio stations he could have been, but luckly he knew what he was doing and continued to put meaning in his words for everyone who could relate to hear.
@infinitetension I feel the same as you.. I thought allot of the ideas i thought of were irrational and all my own, just goes to show that we really aren't alone.. Eyedea helped me realize that.. he is by no means dead, he lives on through his music and Eyedeas.
@glass509 I meant expand on this style. I really like this song and I just mean it's too bad he didn't get to experiment with more stuff like this. Though he surely left his mark on this planet and I appreciate everything he did do in his short time. Eyedea inspired me in countless ways as well. I get what you mean entirely
This CD is available from a sight that was set up on behalf of Michael's mother. It asks for a donation (but not required) and I would highly suggest you donate what you can. Face Candy "Waste Age Teen Land Mural" comes out on May 24th!!! hxxp://micheallarsen.bandcamp.com/album/freestyles
I don't get it. On his Wiki it says an EP titled 'Freestyles' was released in 2010. On his BandCamp page these four tracks are available for purchase ($10) or to just listen to. 'Duluth is The Truth' is on his Wiki too but it says it was released in 2009. And then I find this on his Wiki too: "In 2011, an EP of 4 of Eyedea's freestyles, previously released in 2010 but only sold at live shows, were made available for 'pay what you want' download".
Eyedea read a lot of philosophy. Everything he's rapped about has be said and recycled. He bottled it tightly for easy consumption. Some of his direct obvious influences: Krishnamurti, Alan Watts, Buddha, and the great Greek philosophers. A great resurrection of many lost ideas. As far as his genius goes, I think that is neither here nor there. He was eccentric like many great artists. Just a few words to ponder out in the vastness of space.
@g0tcadaver what do you mean he didn't get to expand? i hope you don't mean become more popular and well known. because eyedea wasnt meant for that. the people he touched, he touched deep. he expanded my life and mentality so much i feel like he should be regarded higher than einstein. he did get to expand. i know i'm not alone when i say that this man spit the most intelletual, touching, in depth, truly above humanity lyrics ever to be said. fuck what everyone says, eyedea was the best...
Or just find all 4 tracks, compile them and burn your own. (If you can't find one of the fifteen originals. . . and if I hear about Mikey's mom getting robbed. . .)
Eyedea is not gone. We are Eyedea!
Mickey's music helped me through my addiction and i am ever grateful
