I think the prospective from standing in the bed of the pickup, filming the bus run up the hill is the best that I've seen on this channel. Just seems to capture the event (running up the hill-post rebuild) very well. Oz had a BIG SMILE, that's what Bus Grease Monkey is all about. Great work Scott, and to team member's. Thanks for sharing.
I think this one needs a round table review of the whole process, lot of questions about the troubleshooting and the changes made to the engine. Great video.
That's such a pretty engine now. The silver on the blower and airbox is really pretty. Did you do a video about the inspection "pit"? I've wondered why you never did a pit. Looks like you snuck one in on me. Always entertaining...
Scott, congrats to another successful repair, I am not a diesel mech of any kind, always was a industrial mechanic and did find all kinds of jury rigging by owners and such. Glad that there are fokes like you who have the knowledge and skills to keep these old girls running down the road. Oz definitely showed how happy he was with your skills and abilities.
Daaaa~Ummm, Scott! What a thrill to see that beautiful Vintage GreyDog RUN up "Dyno Hill" like a frisky young puppy!!! I know Oz is rightfully proud. As always, GREAT JOB systematically and logically chasing down the exact root of the problem and 'splaining your process to us... sometimes I feel like I need to reach for the Goop after watching your videos. Mad RESPECT!
Detroit 2 stroke's are amazing . old school , i still work on a few . a lot of people don't get fuel restrictor return fittings and change them to a non ported fitting . i don't know if they ever quit. just usually have an issue . you can pull bird cage covers and look for scored pistons . bus access looks limited. Thanks good vid
Scott, what’s your final assessment as to what the problem fix was that made the big power change? Was it the mesh filters in each of the injectors, or something else?
Great diagnosis - Is it possible to obtain new mesh filters or clean those clogged mesh filters in the injectors? Or is a whole new injector when they get clogged like that?
We see performance problems like that on high mileage Toyotas. 300k and they start loosing a bit of power and set lean codes. We get them after every other part is replaced; Mac, fuel pump, temp sensors, cats and even timing chains! Flow test injectors a they are below 50%. Hard to diagnose if you don’t know your way around. Great job on that engine and Lennies makeover.
Is that Lenny ? Sounds great ...When i rode Greyhounds i remember the sounds of the engine put me to sleep 💤😂. Sounds like its ready to do what it was built for...Time for a cross country trip 😊
That engine was a hot mess all around, with the excessive wear and what turned out to be bacterial growth/algae clear up into the injectors, no small wonder that it had no power! Paired with a lack of return-side restriction….equivalent to attempting to breathe through a straw while running a marathon. Good job on diagnosing the issue and getting it sorted….
Great work Scott and team (esp John)!!!! You guys get all the tough ones and kick their butts into line! This was a good example of working system by system to find the issue.
Wonder if they have the apparatus to "polish" fuel? I know that's kind of a boat thing, but might help here. While they are waiting to get new parts, see how much crud they could filter / capture out of that tank. Or my solution, pump off most of the good stuff and throw it in the caboose stove fuel tank and junk the rest.
Hey Scott, love the channel, started watching when you were doing the marine Detroits on the boat/anyway there is a clip of a Lenny look alike on the movie. Men of honor
fuel system contamination causes absolute mayhem.......it can be slime, water or in the case of sabotage (like in the trucking industry) in the form of sugar and sand.....and yes those DO go through filters.
Hey Scott, if you ever make it to southern Vancouver Island(Sooke on the southern tip), I've got a place on the water for you to park your bus, a 40 ft fishing boat with a 6V53 to take you salmon fishing, and two buses one with a 6V71 and another with 8V71 that are still runners that could use some TLC. Keep that in mind, the pleasure would be all mine. As an aside, if you went to go uphill from a standstill and you had no power and insane black smoke where would you look first. :)
No turbo, I was going to disconnect the filter and give it some direct air, no dust around here. I'll try that first. Just found your channel, love it. The towel story was priceless. Thanks eh! @@BusGreaseMonkey
So the slimy filters in the injectors probably led to the bad return restrictor and this was pissing fuel back to the tank because it was the lowest resistance path instead of forcing it through to the pistons? Not to mention fuel supply affecting the fuel mix possibly led to wacky burn and affecting pistons, rings.. Did I manage to sum it all up?
Internal engine issues caused by over heating. Slime plugged up the injector filters and nozzles. Bent and crimped Fuel lines certainly didn’t help flow.
You should name that grade "Dyno-Hill"!
Broke bus mountain
Passing grade ?
Outstanding job diagnosing the power and fuel issue, Scott!
Tried to eliminate the cheap stuff first
@@BusGreaseMonkey Yes, you're always very logical in your process of elimination diagnosis. I'm always impressed with that.
Oz is so happy. One guy that works so hard. And deserves the best running bus. Another great rebuild from Scott and the Bus Grease Monkey Team.
yep every one was behind him well done great job just like new

Nicely done. This entire series with Oz has been great. Thank you for your content.
Man..Oz has to be thrilled by the new life you have put into his engine! Would be neat to see his bus interior ,too.
What a beautiful bus. So glad it runs like it should now for Ozz.
Fair dinkum! Clean up on aisle 2 on that last hill climb! Cracking job, gents. Oz has got something he never needs to worry about again.
I think this one needs a round table review of the whole process, lot of questions about the troubleshooting and the changes made to the engine. Great video.
Those 2 stroke GM Diesels amaze me. They keep on running despite being complete wrecks.
I'm sure Scott has been called a Hero many of times, because he is 💯
This was a huge success for everyone including Lenny.
So much power! He is close to drift around the corners!😂😂 great work and satisfaction. An absolute win-win project!🎉
That's such a pretty engine now. The silver on the blower and airbox is really pretty.

Always entertaining...
I missed it too, but yes there's a video about the pit ua-cam.com/video/TenzpavFqCg/v-deo.html
She sounded real good when started. Performed as good as it sounds.
You definitely have the expertise for these classics!!! I love it!!! 🔥✨
Love seeing the customer enjoying his new engine, that's great 👍🏻
Your the one diagnose and fix, he didn't have any problems climbing that hill. Thanks for sharing Mr. Scott

Replacing the injectors was the fuel and power issue. Both clogged filters and injector nozzles i suspect
Could those injector filters be cleaned out with Gasoline?
Nice work Scott, glad you got it fixed for him…
your knowledge of these buss"s and engines is a pleasure to watch! thank you!
I really enjoy when you take a test drive when you finish a repair. So satisfying to see your excellent work come to life!
what a beauty of a bus. the inside looks as good as the outside The engine compartment is beautiful too. what a fine ride hes got now.
Great diagnosis - Is it possible to obtain new mesh filters or clean those clogged mesh filters in the injectors? Or is a whole new injector when they get clogged like that?
Or maybe clean it in an ultrasonic cleaner?
Beautiful engine. Thank you for showing the world.
I love them ole school buses with the manual transmission and especially the sound of those Detroit engines
Climbs that hill like a GOAT!
Also worth saying, your bus looks beautiful now.
The two of you made a good team on this one, friends helping friends. World needs more of this...
The engine looks really amazing, and it run,s great too.
Good job.
✌️❤️😁
MAN that has to feel good after all that work! Engine looks brand new!
So glad i got to watch you and your guys fix that bus
...woohoo 🎉
Beautiful looking engine.
I love what that guy did with his instrument cluster and dash area, it looks amazing..
Peck, peck, peck! Good job. Kept pecking away at it until until every problem was corrected.👍
Your customer was almost laughing out loud! I loved that! :-)
Rebuilt engine looks lovely when you open the hood - that was a mean joke about facing forwards😀
What a beautiful bus. Great job.
What a difference. The guy must be very pleased. Well done you guys
Nice looking bus! Glad to see another successful road trip!
Just gotta luv a screaming Jimmy no other engine on the planet can come close to that beautiful sound.

Hope you poured some bio guard or antifowlant fuel treatment in fuel tank I had Mercedes 300D which developed algea in fuel tank big mess
Yes we treated the fuel
i enjoy watching masters of any craft doing their thing.......
That bus didn't climb the hill it flew up the hill! good job!
I had a ford l9000 with that motor 238 2 vavle head I had out of frame rebuilt and then we put n70s ran good dual 4 inch stright pipes
Boy, she sure sounded crisp on that last shot of it going up the hill. Bill
Very cool. Almost looked like you got some air on that last trip up the hill.

Nice Job!! Scott!! gorgeous Bus and it’s a Runner 🏁🚀👍🏼.
Well that ought to be a pleasure to drive anywhere now.
Drives like new. I want one now.
That was cool a episode, been waiting for the end result. Good job guys.
The belts are squealing a bit. But wow what a difference after the rebuilt and fuel system clean out.
I was really looking forward to seeing this!
Great work Scott and team (esp John)!!!! You guys get all the tough ones and kick their butts into line! This was a good example of working system by system to find the issue.
I'm not worried about it not making it im looking for a new record
Super good series. The before/after, i would have a smile on my face you couldnt wipe off with a shovel. 😁
All the first symthoms where fuel starvation, Nice job, Runs nice now!
That Put a smile on his face to see it flying up that hill good job guys 👍🇺🇸😎
Love the sounds of the gms
Fantastic love these old buses ❤ from uk
I sure hope you flush the fuel tank out too. That crud will just foul new injectors after awhile.
Great series on this rebuild!!!
Nice job men ,she,s a runner now😎
Did you have to clean out the diesel tank? Thank you for the video.
Did I miss part of the video ?? Were the fuel lines and tank flushed ???
I appreciate the videos.it's always a fantastic journey.

Man that Jimmy sounds good.
Love those classic buses.
I believe you have to assume that slime is an everything, the lines, the tank
Who needs cable when you have Gold like this!
Gonna need a radar detector now 😎
Hey Scott, love the channel, started watching when you were doing the marine Detroits on the boat/anyway there is a clip of a Lenny look alike on the movie. Men of honor
Could you imagine driving this bus when it was. New !
Those mesh filters from the injectors sure look a lot like what you found in the oil pan.
I can just imagine the expletives when the driver has to reverse down hill.
fuel system contamination causes absolute mayhem.......it can be slime, water or in the case of sabotage (like in the trucking industry) in the form of sugar and sand.....and yes those DO go through filters.
Interesting filter material in that injector. Does it pull apart into a chain? Looks like it does.
Wow. Nice 4104.
Can he be convinced to get propane installed ? Seems like hes interested in more power and driving it fast(er).

Start looking at the air filter. Exhaust leaks if it’s a turbo. Black smoke is fuel and means it’s not getting enough air
No turbo, I was going to disconnect the filter and give it some direct air, no dust around here. I'll try that first. Just found your channel, love it. The towel story was priceless. Thanks eh! @@BusGreaseMonkey
Have you checked your governor's spring I've had one just fail while I was in the service couldn't tell it wasn't even broken
So the slimy filters in the injectors probably led to the bad return restrictor and this was pissing fuel back to the tank because it was the lowest resistance path instead of forcing it through to the pistons? Internal engine issues caused by over heating. Slime plugged up the injector filters and nozzles. Bent and crimped Fuel lines certainly didn’t help flow.
Isnt the metal of the fuel injector filter the same that you found in the oil pan?
now thats something else i was wondering today if yall had ever finished that one up
I knew you'd figure it out .
That's a nice old bus
Man it ate up the hill!
Driver: So what's wrong with the Engine?
Mechanic: Just crap in the Carburetor...
Driver: How often do I have to do that? 🤣
Were the screens in the N65 injectors not serviceable?
Tengo problemas con la bomba de freno pierde por la descarga atrás y se le va todo el aire
Wonder if an ultrasonic cleaner would clean that mesh screen?
Your friends face when he realized he had power awesome
