err dats naive...these animals are living in an artificial environment where there are no constraints to resources, space and no external threats. There is of course no reason to fight one another in such environment. Reality is different: We face constraints. Find me such group of animals in the wild.

Spotted hyenas can do that, but other types of hyenas can't. I'm pretty sure this one is striped (or brown). Their ears are pointy instead of round.

But wait untill they begin to receive and process info.
The core reason Hyenas and Lions are the sworn enemies because they both are competing each other over food source while they live in the same geographical location.
While both are babies, they don’t care about food source because the food is been provided to them by their parents (just like human kids). BUT as soon as they became adult-ish and aware they have to be the provider of the food, then they realize the importance of fights to stay alive.
The quarrels between Lions and Hyenas stems more so from their social behaviors. Hyenas live in clans. Lions live in Prides. If neither were social, they probably would never fight.
The interesting dynamic between the two only gets enhanced by the difference in the average success rates of the species. Hyenas have far more successful hunts on average than lions despite lions being much more powerful animals, this leads to hyenas thriving and lions KOSing them whenever possible to increase their food supply.
Honestly i have always doubted that theory. There is more than enough prey to go around, and always has been. I think there is much more to it than just eliminating competition, especially when you consider scavenging is common among both species. The more predators around taking down prey, the more opportunity to scavenge a free meal.

Hmm, I'm not sure if hate is the right word, that's a human trait. Carnivores don't see it that way, only that they are direct competition.

Yes, but Spotted Hyenas ARE also called laughing hyenas.
They look very similar in the face and ears, and have the same sloped backs. You’d absolutely think they’re related lol
